Pete Thamel article on FSU job

Yep....his olines have been healthy and haven't missed a ton of time. If nothing else, his injury prevention (lower leg) should be looked at by all high schools and junior highs.
I think that's a side benefit the scheme and splits, in addition to whatever conditioning work they do. Less likely to get tangled up with each other

Also a knock on wood comment, but I think the wide splits and the pass heavy offense allow the linemen to block in space, where there are significantly less plays where guys blocked into and rolled onto their knees.

That and he doesn't have to start freshmen who weigh 235 lbs.
True different times but if he did have to start someone like Dillard his freshman year... what did he weigh? We don’t know who we have because there has been a lot of attrition

Speaking of Oregon's coaches, I wonder what Coach Joe's recruiting responsibilities are now. Looking at their roster, they've got one kid listed from American Samoa, who I think actually went to high school in Utah (Penei Sewell. They've got a handful of kids from Hawaii, so I assume that's his territory now? I wonder if he's not really going to AS anymore, and if so, what he thinks about that.

Maybe San Diego too. Joe lived there after coming stateside.

I am not sure he is a top flight recruiter on both sides of the ball. He will always have five functional linemen. He may burn through three classes and turn them over to find five (he currently has no experienced depth). He seems to be able to reload at the other offensive positions as well. The other side of the ball is the question mark.

Kingston, Beresford and Greene are getting reps.

Used to piss me off to no end when the previous regime at WSU would trot 5 linemen out there and not a one would have a brace of any sort on.

Primary job seems to be serving as second-string rah-rah guy on the sideline (behind that strength coach clown).

That and the beach is very important.

Never noticed that? I wonder how many knees we actually had during that period. Their best lineman they had was Gonzales and he broke a leg.

But the beach and knee braces seem to keep lower leg stuff at a minimum compared to other programs.
