Actually what I yearn from the Mike Price days is two Rose Bowl appearances and competitive Apple Cups.Just out of curiosity why were we 3 games under .500 in conference if there weren't recruiting and talent deficit issues.
You think we go to the Rose Bowl if we had to play SC again in 2002 or UCLA again in 1997? Winning the conference now is a different beast than it was during Prices era. Price was still 3-11 in Apple Cups and some of them weren’t even close, ‘90, ‘91, ‘93, ‘00.
You yearn for two to three losing seasons for every winning one and no depth.
And ol' historian Ed might want to take a look at the history books on Price's AC record and "competitiveness." Why don't you tell us the Price's W-L record in the AC, and do the math on the average score too. Hint- giving up 50+ three times and scoring 10 or less five times is hard on the average.
Well...Price was competitive in 89, 92, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 01, 02.--90, 91, 93, 98, 2000 were ugly. Both Leach and Price were 5 games above .500 at WSU. So I do "yearn" for a good Apple Cup and a Rose Bowl....

Who knows but I certainly think we could beat Utah in the Championship game. And an ASU. Or whoever comes out on that end. Been nice to see what Price could have done with facilities and Pac 12 money for coaches. And to Price's credit he had double the Apple Cup wins in the same amount of time as Leach. But your point is taken...I think.
I think Price had finally gotten things at WSU figured out when he let his ego get out of control and lure him to Alabama. I've always felt that if Price had stayed, we would have had a string of bowl appearances similar to what we had with Leach. 2004, 2005 & 2006 were bowl seasons if Doba could have focused on just the defense instead of trying to run the team while his wife's health was declining. I also think that Price was just enough better running the offense to get us over the hump as well.

I agree, at least regarding the defensive side of things. Last year's defensive staff was a dysfunctional disaster. The inability of that crew to get their act together obscures the issue of talent. Could another group have achieved an adequate/mediocre performance with the same available talent resulting in a few more wins? Didn't happen so we will never know. Some positions obviously need increased size and/or speed. The extent of that need is obscured however by, as Biggs put it, "piss poor coaching". I cannot place blame on the kids yet as they were not provided the coaching needed for success.
Well ED has lied on hear for years that he was supportive of Leach. With every post the POS that he truly is comes shining through.

IMO, it was offense and special teams too.
The defense didnt score 13 against Utah and uw. Or 20 against Cal, including giving up a pick 8. Or score 21 against Air Force. None of those teams are bruisers.
The defense didnt give up 2 special teams touchdowns against UCLA or kick the ball short of the endzone against UO.
The defense had a ton of holes and issues. It got jack shit for help from an offense that should have been able to score 28+ against EVERY team they played. Or not turned over the ball 6 times and given the other team more drives and short fields.
The entire staff took the year off.
So would everyone. What your feeble mind can't comprehend is that with Leach we reached the point where the Cheez It Bowl was the floor, instead of 3 win seasons.

Yo Corpus Christi I have supported Leach. Never once asked for him to be fired. Never once when other after a PSU loss hinted we should lean in another direction. If you think it is not supportive when I question who is replacing Fred M at center, and why that doesn't have a tinge of concern that we have no experience at that position, then yeah I guess I am anti any coach.
Yes, I am hopeful, and I am more than happy to let the process play out to see what develops. I simply asked why when we have two people leaving the oline and little in the pipeline with experience and a lot of attrition at Oline over the years that there should not be even a hint of concern.

One, that is relatively new, and the Holiday bowl by where it is played is a better bowl game. I think the attendance by WSU fans to each venue would prove that.

You do get this past season we had a losing record, and we were 3-6 in conference, a .333 winning percentage in conference.
You do get that Price had nine seasons where he won three or less conference games.

The Alamo Bowl has been the better bowl as compared to the Holiday Bow for the last 11 years in terms of payouts and conference tie-ins.
That is when the Pac 12 second choice team goes to the Alamo instead of the Holiday starting in 2009.
Judging by your comments 11 years ago is probably about the time that you stopped watching College football so your confusion is not surprising.
