Had mine in May. The prep is the worst part. The doc gave me Propofol, which is amazing. I took a nice little nap and woke up with no brain fog. Doc came in and had a conversation with me within 10-15 minutes, and I recall it all. No lingering effects for me. My wife had hers about 6 weeks later, and they used a fentanyl cocktail for her. She took quite a while to wake up and was pretty groggy and nauseous for a few hours, had no memory of leaving the clinic.

She also had trouble getting the drink down. I had exactly the same stuff - Gavilyte, I think. I mixed it with lemonade Crystal Light, and it wasn't completely awful. And it was highly effective - probably within about 15-20 minutes of drinking it, I was indisposed.

And, the best part was the doc told me I have "a very boring colon" and don't need to do this again for 10 years.

It's a pretty common misconception that shooters are lunatics and nutjobs who snap and start shooting. That's actually pretty rare. Most shooters are grievance collectors - they perceive things as slights and injustices toward them, and start adding them up. It's not necessarily things that most would perceive as a slight or an offense - their perception is just a little different. At some point, they accumulate these grievances and decide that their best course (or only course) is an attack. They hardly ever "snap." They decide, and often engage in very meticulous planning. Almost all of them leave footprints that can be seen in the aftermath as preparation, which means that almost all of them could have been detected before it happened. Assassins are a smaller subset of shooters, who don't necessarily follow the same general trends, but Oswald (Kennedy), Hinkley (Reagan), and Chapman (Lennon) all "leaked" ahead of their attacks. They were oddballs, so nobody was paying attention to them...but if they had been, someone could have detected them.

From what I've read, it sounds like this guy hasn't left many breadcrumbs - so far there's no reports of any significant research or preparatory activity. Also doesn't sound like he was so outside of "normal" that he would have been written off. Seems like nobody was paying much attention to him - including his parents - which might just end up being a significant motivator for him. This certainly would have gotten him attention.

Hard to really pick an appropriate adjective. For the most part, these are people that are functional adults - maybe a bit odd, but usually not alarmingly so - right up until they attack. Clearly, their perception is outside of normal, and they can’t cope with whatever affronts they’ve perceived. Most of them, though, wouldn’t raise serious red flags until they were well down the path toward violence.

To keep in the context of the general thread, my concern is that an awful lot of the political rhetoric today seems almost designed to provide grievances and encourage people to believe that they’re being personally wronged. Sometimes it’s even planting the seeds of violent ideation. For people who already have a skewed perception of the world around them, that just might be enough to get them to start looking for opportunities. I suspect that we’re going to see an increase in politically motivated attacks, each one feeding the next.

In the operating theater, doc can't get the drip to go, asks me to rest my wrist a certain way so the IV can work, milliseconds later I begin to feel something and I remember saying "hey, did you just start the...." and then nothing. THAT QUICK.

Woke up in the recovery room, though I don't have memory of actually "waking up". I was just there and suddenly conscious. No hang over, no grogginess, but the legs were a little shaky.

As for the prep... I thought the non-stop shitting was going the be the worst part, but drinking that ooze is simply torture. I told my wife she needs to do the pill form because I know there is no way she'll be able to keep that salt concoction down.

Another shows the skateboard guy hitting Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse killed the unarmed guy first, started running, fell down and killed the skateboard guy, then shot the pistol guy.
