***UCLA @ WSU - GAME THREAD***

Touchdown. Good long drive. The defense should be well rested. I hope the defense comes out now and makes a statement by making UCLA go three and out.

Good thing UCLA's running game is so terrible. Their defense is pretty good. And it doesn't need help from the zebras.

Cougs have to be patient this game. UCLA has a good defense and they aren't giving much.
Good use of the running game on that last series. Even short runs make it 3rd and 6 instead of 3rd and 10 or more. Long ways to go in this one.

Sloppy half. This game has upset potential, especially if Rosen was healthy. Always a couple of these flat home performances each season. Hope they take control in the 2nd half.

What the literal fck was that last drive? 2 and a half minutes and that is all they got? Didn't use time outs? Seriously?

Here at the game. Lack of running is inexcusable, and once the weather cleared we didn't throw the ball at all. Jalen Thompson has been burned on the boot 3-4 times accounting for all their yards. Falk has been terrible. Refs are bad too. I don't understand why we play this way against vulnerable opponents. The lack of running while it was pouring was a joke, hoping they figure it out after half. And the 2 min clock management before half was bad as well.

Only bright spot has been the run D, and James Williams doing work as usual (with some bright spots by Morrow).

funny, i'm usually pretty much a negative nellie when it comes to the cougs, but i actually sort of feel like they are in control right now. don't disagree about the sloppiness, but i'm not feeling all that scared of ucla tonight. (at least not yet...)

I disagree. Starting the drive on the one yard line the last thing you want to do is make a mistake and let UCLA think they have life. Better to be safe and go into halftime with a 10 point lead. They receive the ball for the second half kickoff. This is a game they should win unless they give it away.

It is a sloppy game by all three teams on the field. Sometimes it happens.

My problem isn't with them running the last two minutes, only time management at that point was bad. We didn't run the ball for th first 10 minutes? We ran two draw shuffles and one run over the first quarter? That was poor...

Yes. This is only a loss if we give it away via turnovers. Otherwise, we should pull away in the second half.
Look for UCLA to take a couple of deep shots to try to loosen us up on run D.
Hope that Falk or any other players don't turn it over.

Once Dillard got called for the holding penalty, trying to do something inside a minute on your own 20 is probably not worth trying, especially given the conditions, given how Falk played in the first half, given how good UCLA's defense is, and the fact that the Cougs had a 10-point lead. 1990 is right.

Glad Cougar

Ok, I was just reacting to you writing that the 2 minute clock management before half was bad.

This is exactly my thoughts. UCLA has exactly 100 yards total offense. They have only thrown well when they have moved the pocket. The running game has 16 yards on 17 carries.

I wonder how well that their QB can throw deep?

WSU has had terrific field position to start with all night. Not much done with it but UCLA D is blanketing receivers and playing good D.

Still, Falk seems REALLY hesitant to take the easy 3-yard throw for 7 with the YAC - he's hanging back, holding onto the ball and wants to get 15-20 on every play.

Now an INT by the D!

Late on the East Coast, huh?

Turnovers were the only way that UCLA stays in the game. Two by Falk has killed WSU so far.

Nice to hear porn stache Bellotti still cannot find it within himself to say anything complementary towards the cougs.
