USC started it. UW could have stopped it.....BUT.....

Bad news, I drink a lot of tequila.

Siete Leguas (Patron started there), Tequila Tapatio, El Tesoro, G4, Volans, Arette, Fortaleza, Cimmaron, Lalo (Don Julio's grandson), Ocho, Fuentesca, Siembra Valles, ArteNOM (for some distillery fun). All amazing. All made the correct way, no additives.
I had to quit Tequila, it made me crazy. Quit all hard liquor in fact. Got me in too much trouble. Now it's a steady diet of Coors Light. Tastes like water, goes down easy.

The PAC panicked. No “linear” service is going to be able to afford the next round of contracts. I doubt they will be able to see the Big 10 and SEC ones through. The Apple deal is what everyone will have in the next 5 years.
The issue is streaming will not be as lucrative as linear.

That’s almost certainly true. The growing media contracts have never been sustainable, but both the networks and the conferences have ignored that for the short term payouts. The networks are now starting to crack under the weight of those deals, and it’s entirely possible they’ll cave before the term runs out. (And really, how poetic will it be if 5 years from now the Big 10 contract payout is zero because ESPN went bust?)

The next round of contracts will be based on streaming and subscribers, and there’s no legitimate reason that can’t be set up on a per team or per game basis. that model will destroy the incentive for superconferences.
