I'm not a Newsom fan, but the other way to look at this...fully supported by the facts...is that if it can spread so easily with specific sectors "locked down", then if it were not "locked" it would be much worse. We've had two weeks in a row now where every CA hospitalization measure dropped significantly (admittances, ICU, etc.), so clearly it is working. The biggest advantage has been that we haven't had any "party" holidays lately. Goal has to be to get cases really low before St Pat's day, since the morons will probably once again fuel a big spread on that day, if they follow what they did for Easter, Memorial Day, 4th July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Christmas/New Years. We are our own worst enemy, and it is truly unfortunate that Newsom has to try to be the adult in the room (he doesn't do that very well, but regrettably he has to give it a shot).
Tell that to my local eateries who are shutting down while that J-off dines w/his cronies in Napa.
Yes, that was certainly a low point. One of the things I don't care for; he can be a big hypocrite. It appears that he has learned at least something from that, though. Haven't seen anything that stupid in the past 3 months, and it is not like people are not looking.
You do realize that INDEPENDENTS, BUSINESSES, some democrats(The ones not controlled by AOC/PELOSI/ETC), Republicans, Libertarians, Conservatives, Centrist, Moderates, some liberals, leftist(Again, the ones not controlled by Pelosi, etc), are trying to RECALL NEWSOM FORVL EXTREMELY GOOD REASONS.
And they are pretty close to getting the RECALL on the Ballot, and that there is about a 50/50 chance that he gets RECALLED.
Californians are getting TIRED/FED up with his LOCKDOWNS, SHUTTING DOWN THE ECONOMY, RUINING THE ECONOMY, KILLING JOBS(Due to his LOCKDOWNS, ETC), his HYPOCRISY, his UNCONSTITUTIONAL orders, his not getting the CA LEGISTLATURES to RATIFY his orders, his not letting people sing in church, not letting people have church, only allowing 25 to 50 at church, SHUTTING DOWN churches, DISCRIMINATING, SHOWING FAVORITISM AGAINST churches, religeons, etc, while allowing millions to ignore anti covid rules and RIOT, PROTEST, SPREAD THE VIRUS, While allowing casinos to not abide by the same rules as churches, by letting big box corps like Wal Mart, etc, not have to abide by the same rules as ma and pa businesses, stores, fast food joints, etc.
You dont and shouldnt have to do what Newsom does, did(Locking down), to fight Covid.
Also that is needed to fight 1% Mortality rate Covid is:
1. GOOD HYGIENAL PRACTICES:
WASH HANDS, ETC.
2. SOCIAL DISTANCING(MASK, 6+ FEET, ETC)
Thats it.
If your worried about a lack of compliance, and that need to lockdown to force compliance, you dont lockdown.
Instead you EDUCATE the Masses.
You ram mask, social distancing down everyones throats, and arrest, charge, jail, throw the book at antone who doesnt wear mask.
Thats better, preferrable over locking down, shutting everything down, and ruining economy, and killing jobs, and not reopening, and ruining economy, killing businesses, jobs, etc.
Its just not necessary to lockdown, kill everything, jobs, businesses, economy, etc, to fight covid.
And if you do do that, everyone has to do it, no favoritism, no discrimination, no racism, no hypocrisy, etc.
And thats why the piece of crap Newsom is at risk to rightly be RECALLED
Exactly. No one on the left talks about or attempts to quantify the horrific downside.
