Have a happy 4th everyone!

I believe you meant to say "Happy Independence Day". Remember what the holiday is truly about and that nobody ever says Merry December 25th.
Well, unless you’re British. Then I guess we can skip the greeting altogether, and just silently acknowledge who kicked who’s ass (and still can).

Over/ under on mass shootings nationwide today?

I'll put it at 2 1/2. And I say "over". That's all I have to say about that.

Speaking of recipes what’s going on the grill/smoker for everyone today? More importantly maybe what variety of beverages are going in the ice chest?

Have been marinating a couple pork tenderloins overnight. Will Traeger them later to make BBQ pork, with red food color and everything. Just like the Chinese restaurants have. Made a rhubarb pie yesterday, so will have that for dessert, and a slice soon for breakfast. :) Might have a beer later, or a margarita.

Brats going on the barbie later.
Bloody Mary with my lady friend this morning. Waste a couple hours at the casino this afternoon.
Tribal fireworks, vodka cocktails we learned how to make in Mexico and the aforementioned brats when the sun goes down.
Keeping it simple 😉

What’s the vodka Mexican cocktail recipe? I have some vodka and I’ve never had a bad Mexican cocktail!

Solid work stretch! Smoked ribs on the rectec, brats, burgers, and homemade tater salad for us. My potato salad hack…dice up some sweet heat jalapeños and pour in about a tablespoon of the liquid from the jar and mix that in. Ads some killer flavor and a nice little kick.

I typically crock pot my pork loins. A little water, a splash of BBQ sauce and some chicken Mrs. Dash (I don't eat salt), a few hours and yum. And maybe a few red potatoes.

Hawaiian style this year - chicken has been marinating for about a day and a half. It’ll go on kabobs with pineapple chunks, onion, sweet peppers, and mushroom caps. It all gets brushed with reserved marinade. It’s done when the marinade (which is heavy on brown sugar and pineapple juice) starts to caramelize on the chicken. That will coincide with the pineapple softening through.

Best part is the grilled pineapple, but the chicken and mushrooms are pretty damn good too. The peppers and onions are just spacers that provide accent flavors.

I think we have to know what the normal daily number is, and then pick the over/under on the deviation.

Which is pretty sad.

What's wrong with mass shootings? It reduces the population and helps (by extension) reduce carbon emissions and "climate change." It's all good!

The sad part is that there is portion of this country who likes the potential political ramifications of increasing mass shootings. They secretly approve. It's all about the political narrative. Sickening, eh?

Dang! Tried to insert a picture of the tasty and tender meat, but it didn't work. Just use your imagination, everyone. It would have fallen off the bone if there was a bone!

That reminds me…my wife accidentally picked up a jar of mango habanero pickles on a recent shopping trip. Then on Sunday we were out of relish so I used them on a burger.

I swear, as happy accidents go, this is up there with the discovery of penicillin. They were awesome.

Keep it safe and relatively sane!

And remember... alcohol, roman candles and metal garbage can lids are a recipe for disaster 😁😁😁😁😳

No injuries or catastrophes, but we took my daughter's boyfriend to my redneck brother-in-law's house and he decided to show the boyfriend the wonders of Tannerite. Shot a 2 lb jar that was under a plastic drum. A chunk of the plastic drum just about landed on the roof of my newly purchased Ford F-150 that was about 100 yards from the launch point.

'Merica!

WTF. Had to Google Tannerite, never heard of it before. Man you Midwest hillbillies can really bring it.

While living in the Tulsa area I knew a guy who used it for prairie dogs. I ran into him at a conference last year; we got to laughing at it being the forerunner to Fracking....

Looks like 5 on the 4th itself. Not counting today's tally.....

Well…it still depends what counts as a mass shooting, and CNN sets a low bar. I think they use 4 shot and don’t necessarily exclude domestic violence. Many sources use 4 killed, not counting the shooter, with indiscriminate victims in a public place. These two things really aren’t the same.

Geezus F-ing Christ. Gawd what is wrong with you midwesterners? Between that clip and Noodling, I'm speachless. :)

We don't have mountains....we don't have oceans. All we have is football and guns.

My daughter's boyfriend is from Hawaii and he'd never held a gun before this weekend. He got to shoot a .22LR pistol, my 9mm XD-9, my Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine and my Winchester Model 94 lever action (44 magnum). You could see the beard thickening on his face with every squeeze of the trigger.

spent the weekend making up for several summers of RV'ing and not keeping our yard pristine, so a lot of sand and gravel and pavers and mulch and plants and....

Anyway, that was all so that we could host a dozen people for a bbq, cornhole and outdoor movie. One of my favorite things to cook is bbq chicken thighs and drums. I used to do 90 to 120 minutes in the oven at 250 before putting them on the grill to sauce them up, but I have a pellet grill now and that makes it a ton easier. I don't put any smoke on them (or very little), and seasoning them up before grilling is a must. I never fail to get a ton of complements on them.
Fireworks are banned here because I'm surrounded by leftist cucks, but that didn't prevent a ton of people from shooting them off.

Little bit of push in that model 94 with a 44 Mag?

I've been looking at either a Henry or Marlin lever in a 357 for plinking. I grew up with Marlins and like how the scope mounts better than with the Winchesters, but the Henry looks like a slightly slicker Winchester.

Anybody on the board have experience with either one?

Reminds me of introducing my ex-ex GF to guns. She had never held or shot one. I bought her a pink 20 gauge shotgun, and took her out shooting a couple of times. Got some great pics of her with that gun and my .22 Ruger pistol. F- I grew up with guns. Best times were on the Palouse where me and buddies would take our .22's out and hunt ground squirrels in the wheat fields, With a six pack of course. They kind of disappeared in the 80's/90's, not sure if it was disease or what.

And while I don't hunt anymore, and never shot Bambi, I did sluice quite a few pheasant and quail in the day.
