The game wasn’t over when we stuffed them at the two either. I was doing some mathing and I think I figured they’d have had about 40 seconds to work with. That’s if we got a punt off with our second punter (he wouldn’t have had time to do his rugby kick he’d have had to do a quick traditional punt as they’d have been coming after it with less room to operate)

So you’d have two scenarios. They probably get the ball around our 45-40 best case scenario on a punt with a chance to win it in 40 seconds with no timeouts. Very doable. Or…we take the safety and free kick it to them. They probably get the ball around their own 35 down 3 with a chance to tie it with 40 seconds on a FG. Also very doable.

Either way that was gonna be dicey until they jumped offsides and Mateer smartly slid in bounds.
I was busy explaining the logic of taking a safety to my son but thankfully the Huskies made that unnecessary.

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

My assertion was stated above. I'll copy and paste for you:

First, WSU has to have enough confidence and pride to NOT be the former husband living the wife's basement after the divorce because rent is high.

Second, if the financial situation is so dire, play body bag games. Get a real payday from Tennessee, tOSU, Alabama, or whoever. They pay way more than $1 million, and you know that.

And, as you are fully aware, it's not that hard to get body bag games. Off the top of my head, we played at tOSU in 2002 and at ND in 2003. We played at Wisconsin in 2007. We played at Michigan in 1993. We played at Tennessee in 1994. We played at Nebraska in 1995.

The reason the body bag games stopped is because Leach said no more.
We lost all of those games. We just beat uw. You don't think that game last Saturday was worth more than one million?

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

Well there goes the theory that we are going to be some juggernaut against the MWC teams. Not sure where anyone got that idea, Boise States been recruiting on our level for years.
Not only is there the Boise example from when WSU was P5, but the fundamental issue is that when WSU is at the same level as schools like Fresno State, there is little reason for a kid to leave most parts of California to to go WSU over schools like Fresno State or SDSU.

WSU got nearly all of its recruits because it was the only P5 offer or was competing against another offer from one or two bottom-tier P5 schools. WSU would still win 99% of those battles when it was the only P5 offer. That's gone now. And yes, I'm accounting in the former 99% figure for this kid actually being from the Fresno area, not a couple hours away.

What a awesome video. The video shows why WSU won, and shows why WSU will go 4-0, 5-1, 4-2, 11-1, 10-2, 9-3, 12-0.

Also this video should be shown to all potential recruits, and the WSU recruiter showing the video to potential recruits, should say "You want to be part of that. You want a lot of playing time, more then rotting on bench at USC, Michigan, Ohio St, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, etc. You want to beat UW, Wisconsin? You want to goto NFL like (INSERT NAME)? You want to be a part of the PAC8/10 that have WSU, OSU, Cal, SMU, Memphis, Tulane, BSU, Fresno St, SDSU, CSU, that just as good as Big 12? You want to be part of WSU being PAC champ, and going, playing in the CFP? You want to work, play hard, get developed, improve, become better, the best, at WSU, then elsewhere? Then come to WSU, and you will have all that, and have this(Show video again).

Then try to get recruit to tour WSU, the games, coaches, players, meet NFL cougs, etc.

Also offer them NIL packages.

That will increase, better WSU recruiting, and WSU would get 3 star, 3.5 star, 4 star recruits to come to WSU.

Hope Dickert, WSU, the WSU Collective, etc, is able to do that, those things.

I was there but this video really captures the moment. In the last 2 minutes I found myself thinking how many times have I watched the Cougs lose in the last couple of moments. I was so elated when we stuffed them at the 2. I might have even joined the rush on the field if not for the fact that I'm 75 and we were in the 3rd deck. Great win. I was at the Apple Cup 3 years ago that the Cougs won but this one was even more satisfying.

Come on dgibb....Neither do you. Your assertion is that we drop the Apple Cup in favor of annual games with Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State. I mean, sure, but we'd be lucky to get one of these games every 10 years.

OK so UNLV. WTF?

I heard rumblings that UNLV was looking at the AAC.....Taking Tulane and Memphis out of the AAC will be a pretty big hit to that conference. Tulane is projected by Massey to run the table and Memphis is the probable G5 representative in the playoff if they beat Tulane to finish the season. If we get those two, the appeal of the AAC drops somewhat. Get UNLV and Air Force to get us back to the Pac-10 (ish).

The PAC 6/2/8/12 should try to get Memphis, Tulane now. If ACC falls apart anytime after Jan 1, 2026, Memphis, Tulane won't join PAC. Better to get Memphis, Tulane to join PAC now, BEFORE, ACC falls apart. And should try to get UNLV as well, but if have to take Nevada to get UNLV, then no to UNLV, Nevada. And if UNLV goes to AAC, or when, if say no to UNLV, Nevada, then don't get Airforce, and get UTSA, Rice instead.

Airforce while it has done ok due to superb coaching, Airforce has strict Militiary Academy, Govt rules, etc, that limit recruiting, spending, budget, hiring, getting better recruits, coaches. Yes their coaches have been superb, but Airforce got very lucky to get those coaches, recruits. Also Airforce does NOT bring value, and UTSA, Rice, Liberty, James Madison, bring more value then Airforce, and should try to get one of them, if can't get Memphis, Tulane, UNLV.

UTSA is ROCK SOLID. Delivers San Antonio, Texas Recruiting, and UTSA has been doing good, and has no significant college competition in San Antonio, and has a semi lot of TV eyeballs, and brings a lot of value, and will probably continue to bloom like a rose.

Rice is in AAC, G5, and gives PAC a piece of Houston, and only other college in Houston, is the Houston Cougars. Rice also used to be in the SWAC with Texas, etc. Rice, if it joins the PAC 8/10 could blossom like a rose. Rice is also in the Southwest, and better delivers Texas as a recruiting ground for PAC 8, then North Texas, Texas St, and is about tied with UTSA. The only reason why Rice hasn't been good, is Rice has been unlucky, semi incompetent, etc, in NOT getting good coaches, NOT getting good recruits, etc.

Liberty went 12-0, was MAAC G5 Champ, and if in PAC 8, could blossom like a rose, and is in a big city, has semi lot, a lot more TV eyeballs then people think, and brings more value then people think, and has more value then Airforce, Wyoming, Utah St, North Texas, Texas St, NDSU, etc.

James Madison is worthy because they are usually one of the G5 champs, 1st runner up to champ, 12-0, 11-1, 10-2, 9-3, 9-4 year in, year out(Not AAC), have a lot of value. Only problem with them is they in western Virginia, so some might say that if gona get James Madison, why not get USF, in Florida instead, since both Virginia, Florida are both very far away from west, are not western.

Of course these are all just assumptions and projections at this current time...but going off your link of western Kentucky getting $1.9 mil as a starting point along with the projections of this past apple cup netting $4 mil...I think it's safe to assume the Apple cup generated at least half that projected amount.

If that be the case then we came out on top with more money, a victroy and more national press. Taihtsat
I'm assuming that you have nothing to show.

See how assumptions work?

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

Somethings that ya all are overlooking.

1. The recruit says he is decommiting to stay close to home. If it wasnt for that, if WSU was close to home, the recruit might probably have still committed to WSU AND stayed committed to WSU, and would have permanently chosen WSU over Fresno St.

2. Fresno St is a real good program that recruits well.

3. While point 2 above is true. Point 1 above, AND that WSU is a slightly better program, recruiter, Trump's point 2 above.

4. Fresno St's recruits, while good, are usually not as good, not better then WSU recruits, as long as WSU has a decent, ok, semi good, etc, HC, recruiter, etc. If WSU has a Paul Wulf type coach, WSU's recruits are worse then Fresno St, and will get out recruited by Fresno St. Dickert is decent, ok, semi good to good, semi great HC, that recruits at least equal to, an or out recruits Fresno St. If the recruit hadn't wanted to stay close to home, then he would have played for Dickert, WSU over Fresno St.

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

Losing to the only "strong" team on your schedule doesn't help you. You're better off being undefeated and untested, than already showing you're not good enough to beat the 5th-8th place team in the B1G.

While that's partially true, what your saying seems to forget, not account for, etc, that WSU has beaten 5th thru 8th place teams in Big 10, Big 12, in beating Wisconsin twice, UW 2 out of last 4 times that played them, and Texas Tech.

That's WSU beating 5 Quality P4 teams 5 times out of the last 9 times that played Quality P4 teams.

If WSU, OSU had remained the P2, WSU's rate of beating Quality P4 teams would have went down to 0,1,2 times out of 9,10 times.

If WSU had joined the MWC with BOTTOM feeders, WSU's rate of beating Quality P4 teams would have dropped down to 1,2 times out of 9,10.

When the PAC 6 becomes the PAC 8 of BSU, SDSU, Fresno St, CSU, Memphis Tulane, WSU, OSU, WSU's rate of beating Quality P4 teams like Winsconsin, UW, Texas Tech, etc, will probably be 3,4 times out of 9, 10 games.

It's not going to be 0 wins against Quality P4, like you seem to be saying, suggesting.

I hope we are done talking about boycotting the Apple Cup

Show your work on that assumption. Please.

9/11 Survivor Story

Well…here’s the funny part Stretch. Maybe you don’t know who she is, but you are hanging on her words…..wanna know how?

Trump’s spewing her nonsense during his debates and interviews. And we damn sure know you take everything he says as gospel.
Just FYI, I don't take everything that ANY human being says as Gospel.

Meanwhile, you remain all in for the cult of the MSM (aka DNC Propaganda Arm).

9/11 Survivor Story

You think I am fascinated by Laura Loomer? Someone that I don't even know who the Hell she is? Someone that I have never been to her website, if she even has one? Or followed her X account? BTW, I do NOT have an X account at all, do not follow anyone on X, and only see X things when they are posted here. Kind of like you, apparently, since you seem to know a lot more about her than I do.

So you are hitching your wagon to a couple of wild conspiracy theories that probably have about a 1 in 100,000,000 chance of being true? Good plan!

Yeah. We need to move on this. But interesting twist - the scheduling agreement stipulates that the Pac-2 has to pay this $43M within 30 days after teams announce their withdrawal intentions. So the question becomes when does the MW distribute this windfall? Could UNLV and AF hang tough and collect this poaching money, then bolt?

Seems weird that we will/may have to pay this penalty almost 2 years before they actually leave. I hope whatever they signed is ironclad. What if they changed their minds? SDSU did, although they didn't have an offer when they announced their intent to leave a couple of years ago so there was no agreement to join the Pac or anyone else.

I can see AF bolting to the AAC. UNLV, not so much. Wish I was a fly on Teresa's wall right now.

With regards to the 57,000 attendance- as a fan base we control that.
Lumen Field only holds 68,740, so we are 11,000 short of a sell-out, which happens in Martin Stadium frequently. Next year will sell out.

Second- which Power 4 team would you rather beat than Washington? We aren't going to win the National Championship, and most bowls are crap, so this is why we even play the sport.

Third- years ago a WSU administrator was quoted as saying the most important factor in lobbying the state legislature for funding was for WSU to win the Apple Cup. We need this to compete with UW for high school kids to come to Pullman as students, for our athletic programs to stay relevant, and for our state support. None of that happens with a win over Rutgers or Indiana, or a loss to Tennessee or Penn State.
If we're just spitballing on that question- Texas, Georgia, tOSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri, Miami, Oregon, Penn State.

Those are the AP top 10.

I think we should all take a moment and think about Pat Chun

Yep you fire a guy over one bad game .

What about taking the number two team in the country to the last second of the game and giving up 24 points.

If his reliable kicker (normally reliable) hits chip shots we win against Cal, Stanford, ASU and maybe the UW .

WSU was ONE play away from beating the UW. If the refs were consistent they woukd have called holding on the 4th and 1 from their own 29.
Yeah it’s weird how we didn’t give up 700 yards in this AC. Almost like it might have had something to do with the fact that UW had the best QB in their history and we were missing two guys in the secondary 🤷

Biggs is a dumbass Ed, let it go.

Crap, that is so disappointing. I thought sure we were going to have some POV video of Kurt violating that unwilling fusky scum! :-(

I did love the video though!
Yes, I too saw the thread title and figured we would see some gay porn. Or an invitation to meet in some Men's room. Kurt - as a poster who has to put up with never-ending shit because of some random comment(s) I made a month or year or years ago, I can guarantee that you will be haunted forever by your admission of giving or getting anal (perhaps both) to celebrate the Apple Cup victory. But some of us will embrace you through it all. :)
