Worst 7-1 team in the country?

I glanced down the above posts, going quickly past those more interested in name calling than offering actual thoughts. Here is where I land, for the one or two of you who care:

- Our punting has been outstanding when you consider that a placekicker is doing it. And the place kick game has also been good.
- There is no denying that we are winning close games. That alone is such an improvement over last year!!
- The difference between attitude of the offense with Mateer vs. Ward is shocking to me. I'll take Mateer, warts and all. Better leader.
- If I could make only one change in our D it would be continuous review of tackling fundamentals. If I could make 2 changes, I'd ban the soft/ prevent defense.
- There is no doubt that our coaches can develop players. The recruiting stars have always been somewhat of a joke, but to be 7-1 with so many starters that were walk ons/unrated/minimal P4 offers is significant.
- That said, the tackling fundamental thing (while improving slowly) is still an issue.
- We held most of the team together last season with minimal NIL money. That makes it clear that the players believed this was going to be a good season, with a good coaching staff.
- Our staff clearly favors aggressive play calling. I'd rather have that than be fully predictable. But we are probably a bit too far into the aggressive side of things at this moment, at least when looking at the risk/reward situation. Still, no one can accuse us of not using all of the playbook, or of not leaving it all on the field.

Bottom line? We are 7-1. It has not been pretty, mistakes have been made, it took several opportune (lucky) breaks, and we may really be (as the thread title suggests) the worst 7-1 team in the country. But don't tell the team, because they won't believe you. And that reflects well on the coaching staff.
Agree with a lot here. muffed punts aren’t generally a coaching issue, I’d throw that in the “unlucky” category. We’ve had our fair share of shit luck over the years I’m ok having some good luck roll our way.

There’s plenty to clean up and get better at I think we can all agree. There’s still some questionable stuff in regards to offensive play calling and in game decisions (did not like going for it on fourth when you’re in a defensive game), but some of the nonstop hate for Dickert when we are a top 25 team in November after all the shit we’ve had to wade through over the past few years is insane to me.

I do have one problem with this reply. I have it on good authority (Facebook).....that the only fans that have trouble finding accommodations for a football game are WSU fans. Every other college in the country plays their games where there are hundreds of super cheap hotel rooms available within a 20 minute drive of the stadium.
Or...

You're Auburn and have a 900 unit RV park within 30 minutes of the stadium that's packed to the brim for every home game.

Totally agree about the 7:30pm games.

The 7:30pm games end at 11:00pm (no overtime). For me to get to my home in S.W. Washington after a 7:30pm game in Corvallis takes about 3 hours. So, I get home at 2:00am. I've tried numerous times getting a hotel room in the Corvallis area so I could drive home Sunday morning, but those are always booked well in advance.

I think you’re going to see more and more of this. As ticket prices get more insane, you’ll have more of the fan who can afford to travel be perfectly fine dropping $500 per ticket.

Honestly doesn’t bother me a bit. As long as people behave and aren’t trying to fight (sometimes they dont). There are several NFL venues where home field doesn’t exist any more. Vegas, Los Angeles, Arizona, etc. two solutions for those places…don’t out price your local fans and put a better product on the field.
Its a disservice to the actual fan base. There are SEC programs that will pull your tickets if you get caught doing this.

There are plenty of Seattle fans that would buy those seats and attend, but Jody Allen only cares about being profitable as is evidenced by how the two teams she owns has made zero REAL effort to field a winning team. Trailblazer fans certainly deserve better than the absolute dumpster fire she has given them the past 4 years. Oh, and the Moda center lower bowl was filled with Warriors fans on opening day - shocker.

You could have donned a bills jersey and fit right in at the 100 level.

This business of selling tickets to visiting fans is gross.

I know what you mean, it takes me a minimum of 2 hours to get from Pullman to just north of Coeur d'Alene. We have gone to Corvallis several times and never had a problem getting a room in either Albany or Salem. Probably don't want to wait until Friday afternoon to book the room though.

OT- Oops, voter fraud is underway

Stretch....when I read your stuff I envision someone tying themselves up in a pretzel. When the President says "cmon guys, all I need you to do is find 11,780 votes", sure doesn't sound like a guy making a call to do a fourth audit. They told him he lost and there was no fraud that would change the outcome.

But that isn't my question. My question is, what if what has said he does he follows through and it isn't just "campaign rhetoric". Are you ok with him sending in the military against protestors who are peacefully protesting? What happens if he fires Jack Smith. Doesn't Jack Smith work for our judiscal system and doing his job? What if he goes after his politically enemies, like Smith and Pelosi. What did they do outside their jobs?

What if he goes after Mark Millie and John Kelley for voicing their opinion? Are you ok with that, and if not what will you do?

Last question, when was the last time a democratically elected dictator like Victor O of Hungary just step down and not corrupt the election process?
Pretzel logic? That's rich, coming from you!

As I have stated many times, look at the context. If Trump called up and immediately started demanding that GA took whatever actions necessary to overcome the Biden vote lead, you would have a point. When he said he just needed to find those votes after the hour long discussion, where they presented their evidence/arguments that they firmly believed were irregularities, then it is an entirely different situation.

I really, really love all your far out hypothetical questions that you always throw out there. Do you actually believe all the lies thrown out there by Kamal, MSNBC, CNN, etc? Do you actually believe that Trump (or any other president) will activate the military to ATTACK strictly peaceful protestors? That is just bizarre. But how do you define "peaceful" anyway, because that is the key to the issue. If it is truly peaceful, then Hell no you do not send in military to attack protestors. But if they are protesting peacefully like back in 2020 where there was billions in damage, buildings and neighborhoods burned, or they are breaking laws by not vacating when told to or blocking PUBLIC roadways, then I have no problem having National Guard, even enlisted military take whatever actions are needed to restore order.

Jack Smith doing his job? Yes, he is doing what he is told to do by his boss Garland and his boss Biden. All the "lawfare" unleashed on Trump is quite obviously politically motivated. Would Trump return the favor and tell the DOJ to prosecute Biden for his security violations, Hunter for his crimes, etc? I doubt very much he will. I need to remind you that he already declined to do that with Hillary, which would have been an easy case to win, and he said he is thinking about a pardon for Hunter.

Pelosi? That hag went after Trump with a vengeance. Two ridiculous impeachments, and the kangaroo court on January 6th. All those actions totally one sided, she wouldn't let the R's participate, and they did a Salem witch trial, withholding evidence that they didn't like. Evil, pathetic.

Why do you believe Kelly, guy that was fired and has an ax to grind on Trump, when five other named officials (not the typical anonymous source) all say Kelly is wrong? TDS? And what do you mean by having Trump go after someone for what they say? Have them arrested? Is saying your opinion a crime? Do you believe the ridiculous bullshit about Trump being worse than Hitler? And asking what I would do if Trump does "go after them"? WTF can I do? I guess I could agree or disagree on an internet message board, but we all know that is a pretty impotent thing to do.

While we are at it, what are YOU going to do about Biden, Harris, Obama, Schumer, Kelly, Hillary, etc all telling lies about Trump, Republican, and by inference those of us that support Trump and/or other Republicans/conservatives? They are creating a terrible division in our country, so what are YOU going to do about that?

Did anyone notice during the Hawaii game that the feed was super choppy? It may have been a comcast/xfinity thing but for more than half the game, the live feed for the game was laggy AF. It did smooth out during the 3rd QTR.
I heard that as well. Puck was complaining about it on his YouTube show. My feed with Astound Broadband in Kitsap County was fine. So, it may be specific to one provider.

OT- Oops, voter fraud is underway

Well that is f-ed up then. I stand corrected. Mark it on your calendars, as it is a rare occurrence. Like Hailey's comet. :)
Some more info for you on how people that are not eligible to vote are able to make it happen. As always, hope this helps you.

BTW, here is another question that it would be nice to hear some kind of rational explanation for- Why is it that the Dems/Libs oppose asking a person's citizenship during the census activities every 10 years? Couldn't be because it is to their benefit to include aliens to increase their electoral votes, right?

EDIT: Again I ask why the libs fight tooth and nail against efforts to keep legal and illegal aliens off the votor rolls? What explanation is there other than they are trying to enable the opportunity to have non-eligible people vote!

This was posted on X by former US Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy today:
"A panel of 2 Obama-appointed judges and 1 Biden-appointed judge has sided with the Obama-Biden DOJ in opposing Virginia’s effort to bar aliens from voting in the election — notwithstanding that it is a federal crime for aliens to vote."
Hmmmmm-Dem appointed judges, I guess they need to recuse themselves from the case.

OT- Oops, voter fraud is underway

Well, there's no proof of who exactly did this unless Antifa is claiming to have done so publicly.

Also, this was in the northWEST, Portland and Vancouver WA.

Finally, I fail to see the purpose of burning ballots: if you're radical left, the vote is almost certainly going your way regardless, and the converse is true for the radical right, so what's the point? If you were to argue that anyone would be responsible for this it would make more sense that the radical right would do this to sow lack of confidence in the election process/ results.

Cougs 22nd in both polls.

FWIW, at some point, you are who your record says you are. We are 7-1 with wins over a pair of Power 5 schools and a road loss to the #15 team in the country. If we win out, that's better than the formula that Boise State, Houston, Memphis, and Tulane used to get into NY6 bowl games in the past 10 years or so.

KSU fans are grouchy about how their team struggled to beat KU this past weekend. I still remember the Auburn fan bitching about the game against us in 2013.

We've had plenty of years :)cough: 2023 :cough:) where our team was clearly better than the record indicated but that didn't change the fact that based on our actual record (5-7), we were just not that good of a team and not worthy of a bowl game. We can play woulda, coulda, shoulda all we want....last year sucked. It's okay for you to be suspicious of the team....but it's different when someone is choosing to be an irrational dickhead about it (i.e. Biggs). You can be as annoyed as you want with the way that we've gotten to 7-1 but if we win out and make it to 12-1, I guarantee that WSU will tout this as one of the greatest seasons in school history and they won't be wrong. All we can do is play the teams in front of us and as long as we win...the style points don't really matter in the long run.
I'm going to try to lighten up and enjoy the ride.

The feed on the umpire’s Go Pro was not great. I don’t recall any other issues.

We read the comments on Facebook about the poor video quality but the feed we had on YoutubeTV was fine and didn't have any problems. Ironically, the CBSSN feed on Saturday night was much grainier in comparison for us..

Its ok to be wrong, and you are.

It does matter how they got there. And there is reason to think they won't continue to be ranked and creep up a spot or two every single week. The Cougs are stumbling their way to W's despite seemingly not being competent at football fundamentals and being just talented enough to pull off a couple of big plays vs lesser opposition.

Maybe Arbuckle is a mad genius and purposely rolls out a completely different offensive gameplan every week to keep the opponent on its heels - anything is possible.

Finally, how dare you challenge anyone's loyalty if they don't drink the same kool aid you do. I root for a W the same as anyone else every week. I want my Cougs to be a beacon of awesomeness to Pullman. But I've seen enough seasons of football to know that what we are seeing is not sustainable. I'd love to be proven wrong.
