Deontay Burnett

Deontay was just named MVP of an all star game.. I had forgotten all about him. I viewed his all star game performance and his HS videos. I was very impressed. He looks like Bambi out there, very graceful and completely under control. I wonder if his reported 4.69 40 time is accurate? He looks very young and will not be eighteen until later this year. He was said to fly under the radar and he sure did. i believe that his best days are ahead of him as he matures and gains about 15-20 pds of muscle. The cougs got a very good one in Deontay.

If we have a hole...why not take this guy?

Saw the linked article today.

Easton Bruere - #2 QB prospect in New Mexico (#1 is committed to Michigan).

I know we've got Falk, Bender, and Hilinski, so we look pretty good for the next 3 years or so, but if there ends up being a slot available this kid looks like a reasonable option...and having quality competition at QB ain't a bad thing.

Also note in the article - "the (U of New Mexico) Lobos received a commitment from 3-star JUCO passer Austin Apodaca in December."

UPDATE: Michigan offers Burnett...

Washington State receiver commit Deontay Burnett picked up an offer from Michigan today, according to Rivals analyst Adam Gorney. The Gardena (Calif.) Serra product talked about his interest in the Wolverine program yesterday, which can be found below. I'll work on seeing if a visit will take place this weekend.

UPDATE: Here's a bunch of nonsense...

Washington State has offered Humble (TX) Summer Creek running back DeUnte Chatman, according to Rivals analyst Jason Howell. The 6-foot, 218-pound running back is currently committed to New Mexico State.

Chatman also holds offers from Army, Florida A&M, Illinois State, New Mexico and S.F. Austin. Chatman committed to the Aggies last weekend.

UPDATE: NO OFFER HAS BEEN HANDED OUT, FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD. SOUNDS LIKE THE FATHER RELAYED SOME NOT SO GOOD INFORMATION.

UPDATE: New DL target from CA (1/27, 4:44 p.m.)

Sacramento (Calif.) Grant defensive end Carl Granderson has been offered by Washington State. The 6-foot-6, 185-pound defensive line prospect committed to Wyoming this week, however it appears the staff is going to make a run at the edge rusher.

Granderson, who also holds an offer from Boise State, racked up 172 tackles, 34 tackles for loss 15 sacks and two interceptions as a senior. Granderson is teammates with Washington State offensive line target Darrin Paulo.

I'm hoping to have more on Granderson soon. It wouldn't shock me if they're looking at a grayshirt offer for Granderson.

UPDATE: New offer out to 2016 linebacker...

Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty 2016 linebacker Krys Barnes has been offered by Washington State, according to his coach. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound inside linebacker, who is being recruited by Roy Manning, also holds offers from Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Nevada and Utah.

UPDATE: Wazzu visits three-star safety...

I just exchanged a couple text messages with Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill safety Mike Bell who says Washington State stopped by today and there's a chance the three-star safety will take an official visit this weekend.

Bell, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back prospect, de-committed from San Diego State this weekend. Bell visited Fresno State last weekend and also holds an offer from San Jose State.

He didn't have a lot of time to talk and is supposed to be calling me back later tonight.

NEW: Mele officially named ST coordinator...

Washington State head coach Mike Leach announced Tuesday that Eric Mele has officially been named special teams coordinator while Brian Odom, who we reported was joining the staff this morning, has been added in a defensive quality control position.

"Eric did a nice job coming in midway through last season," Leach said. "He is organized, hard-working, energetic and has a great rapport with the players."

Odom, who spent the last three seasons at Houston, will take over a similar role that Mele filled last season, however it will be on the defensive side.

"Brian brings a great work ethic and an experienced football mind to our staff," Leach said. "He has been a part of football staffs that have seen a great deal of success and he will be an asset for our program."
