"The 2nd Half all year our production was beyond poor. The 3rd Qtr being the absolute worst in the terms of Yards gained and Points scored.

  • 3rd Qtr, deLaura Avg'd 19 yds passing in 4 games
  • 4th Qtr, delaura Avg'd 43 yds passing in 4 games

  • 3rd Qtr, Cougs Avg'd 3.8 pts per game in 4 games
  • 4h Qtr, Cougs Avg'd 6.8 pts per game in 4 games

Yesterday, we had 39 Total Yards of 2nd Half Offense with 2:06 left in the 4th Qtr. We finished with 108"

Somehow the 2019 Leach Team and Tracy Claeys weight will be the reason for our poor 2nd half offense this year, but knowing we didn't play Cal and UW, who tend to be some of the better Pac12 defenses, I wonder what these numbers might have looked like??? There's more to the RnS Playbook, but this has to a point of emphasis next year.

When is the last time we can say we didn't make a first down in a half of football?

First drive of the 4th quarter was 6 plays, 24 yards ending with a punt (there was still hope at that point). The last drive was 11 plays, 74 yards ending with Harris' fumble.

And the only reason we didn’t end with 39 was because the Utah DB took it to the house. He gets tackled there we end with 39.
I said in the game thread I’m not sure Wulff ever crapped out a half of football that bad. DGibbons was going to take that challenge and do some research, anyone look it up? I’d bet a 6-pack <39 yards never happened w/Wulff as putrid as many of those teams were.

Check the stat book instead. We had 6 first downs in the 2nd half. All in the 4th quarter.

From your drive chart, we had a 6 play drive starting at 12:01, which means there was at least one first down (a 17 yard pass from Cooper to Bell). There was also an 11 play drive starting at 2:06, which had to have multiple first downs (5 - 1 rushing, 3 passing, 1 penalty).

???? I don't think this is true. We were awful on offense and did very little, but I'm pretty sure we had a couple of first downs in the second half. The Cam Cooper drive at the end alone produced a couple of them.

But again, if your point is the offense was terrible.....heck yes, that's true.

Glad Cougar

Well, you guys have cracked the case. Rolovich = Wulff.

Bummer since the COVID related financial losses make getting rid of him impossible for the next 4 years.

No kidding. The sky is falling!

We scored 28 in the first half...but the geniuses on the board are declaring Wulff.

This team has showed they can play with good teams(except USC)...in yr 1 with no spring ball...and no experience at qb. Not to mention last yrs defense was one of the worst in recent memory.

From all accts, it looks like we have a pretty decent recruiting class coming in and the book on Rolo is that he can recruit.

I certainly don't think we are seeing his whole offense. I mean, the guy played in it so I seriously doubt this is representative of the finished product.

We have been able to run the ball on some good defenses...quite well in fact.

This looks nothing like Wulff.

All Rolo has to do is misgender somebody in a tweet and suddenly WSU finds the money and installs Beau Baldwin with his run game coordinator in tow.

That will create some Happy Holidays in some areas, but not all. The lack of equity is appalling. I'm outraged.

I think WSU might be able to term "for cause" (no buy-out) if he has 2 consecutive seasons with 4 wins or less.

I'm still optimistic on the hire and will support him. I am not so optimistic on our half time adjustments or our discipline to care for the ball.

You guys are taking this too far. Saying one half of football is Wulff bad does not equal Rolo is the next CPW. I still have great hope for Rolo, some concerns sure, but he’s certainly a more engaging fella for starters. And I haven’t seen him go knuckles deep up his nose on the sideline yet so that’s also a plus.

We aren't the ones saying that. We..or at least I am basically quoting the people on here comparing Rolo to Wulff...and there is even a thread with that title. So there are quite a few people comparing Wulff to Rolo. And it is ridiculous.

I think the Rolo style and culture of playing fast, loose and fun will work. We saw that with Mike Price. Pete Carroll did well with this. I'm a fan of that style.

Again - so nothing gets lost in translation from my point, take care of the football (Pete Carroll preaches this) and come out ready to win the second half (coaches too).

I think otherwise. Cause would be something like committing a crime or a NCAA violation.
