Well, Trump is cleaning up the mess from Biden's watch (which extends back to when VP Biden was tasked with foreign policy for Ukraine during the Obama presidency).
I've been consistent in saying that the future of the United States is much more closely tied to Asia than Europe, and that the United States is not prepared for a military conflict with China. That's not Pro-Russia. That's pro-America. That's fighting battles that matter instead of a Cold War redux. "Most of the free world" is free to fund Ukraine's war effort and economy. I certainly don't care if they do.
We all agree that China is morphing into a bigger threat than Russia. That said, history says that it's a bad idea for us to pretend that we won't get pulled into a war in Europe. We can't afford to pretend that Russia isn't a problem just because China is a bigger problem.
And for what it's worth, if we don't care about Ukraine, why don't we leave instead of going full Mafia Boss and saying, "Hey...somethin' bad might happen if you don't give me some of your valuables to show that you respect our protection". Why are we trying to get a half a trillion worth of rare earth metals and other natural resources if we don't want to be involved?

The world appears to be shifting toward multi-polarity from globalism. One of the strategic failures of Biden's foreign policy was China and Russia getting closer. The "no limits" friendship. That's bad for the US. Unfortunately, the only other potential player out there to balance out a China-Russia alliance is our limp wristed "allies" in Europe many of who do not fund their own defense, and badly want to re-hook their economies to cheap Russian gas. If there are three key players, do we want to the one, with the two others allied? Or see if we can drive a little wedge into the no-limits?
And the Russian side of the deal hasn't really been in the media. Just a lot of hysterics from the neocon warmongers.
I still don't understand why so many people want more Ukrainians to die. One generation is gone. And that's on top of a demographic problem so bad that 18-25 year old males not being subject to conscription.

It’s probably going to be difficult at this point to find raw and uncut video of this Oval Office disaster. I didn’t bother looking for it on X, Fox, ABC, CNN, etc, but found some longer versions from international sites. Vance accused Zelensky of “attacking” the Trump administration, but I didn’t see that happen. Really, the whole thing reminded me of the first Trump/Biden debate in 2020, when it was complete chaos and just continual interruptions and talking over the other person. Vance, once he got started, wouldn’t let Zelensky actually respond. Once Trump stepped in, taking dubious offense to a comment that he clearly mischaracterized or misconstrued, then Zelensky was barely allowed to speak. They kept talking about how disrespectful he was, and wanted to know how many times he’s thanked Trump *today*.

Europe pretty much did surrender to Hitler. The Royal Navy and Germany’s lack of sealift capability meant the UK could hold out. Had the Luftwaffe continued attacking radar stations and airfields instead attacking cities the world may be different.

The word seems to be that Zelenskyy deviated from the script. Today was supposed to be- Sign the mineral deal, say thank you, go home. Next was peace deal.

So what was today's meeting supposed to be about? Last I knew it was to sign the previously negotiated agreement for the US to benefit from some mineral resources that the Ukraine has as some compensation for our tactical and supplies that we have furnished Ukraine since Russia invaded. And that was the extent of the agreement, limited to the natural resources, no ongoing security commitment, no troop support offers, no NATO membership, nothing past the resources, which would benefit both countries. (Not getting into if it was balanced or not, but it would have benefitted both of us)
So given that, do you and the other TDS folks here think it was a good idea, that it didn't break any political protocols, for Zelenskyy to come into the Oval Office and start trying to push for additional support from the US? That seems like a pretty stupid thing to do from my knothole.

For those that might think that body language is telling, (I think a lot of poker players do) there were a couple things that stood out in today's scuffle. The first one was after VZ started off the shit show and JD started talking he leaned back and scowled, with his arms tightly crossed, giving off a strong signal that he didn't give a shit what was being said to him. Not really a good thing to do when you are invited onto someone else's home turf, and they are attempting to give you some urgently needed help.
The second clear body language signal was after VZ had embarrassed himself by rudely talking over his host like he thought he was on a MSNBC talk show, the cameras caught the Ukrainian ambassador with her head in her hands, shaking her head with the realization how big of a cluster**** her boss was doing. It was classic!
