Ali to Hawaii

He would have started. The new guys recruited to play PG do not have the skill set and shooting ability to play the point. He has the customary first year juco year problems which most all jucos have, This leaves one true PG on the squad.

Smith has been pretty clear about Robinson having the inside track. Ali was a defensive liability who doesn't bring enough offensively to offset his weaknesses at the Pac-12 level. He's the type of player who can absolutely torch Big West offenses though and won't be matched up against 6-3 PG's who are as quick as he is defensively. Wish him well, but he wasn't going to see more than 20 minutes a game here.

Robinson has the skill set of a reserve guard. He is fairly solid but does not have any real strengths He will be sorely outmatch by the better guards in conference play.He does not have outstanding physical talent but should be used a reserve when one s top Pg gets in foul trouble..

Of course this is correct. Smith plays an entirely different style than Kent. Ali, if he had stayed, would have been instant offense off the bench. Smith believes that defense is important. Ali just was not physically capable of being a decent defensive player. Robinson is just a better fit for what Smith wants to do. Good luck to Ali, as I have nothing negative to say about him.

Interesting from someone who complained so much about the shortcomings of Daniels and Skaggs. Ali was a pretty one dimensional offensive player last year and was a major liability on the defensive end. Smith prefers a PG who will pass first and play decent D.

Well he will have that and no more.Ali at least has the capability to be a decent defensive player. Skaggs just was limited by slowness afoot ,poor reactions and a lack of physicality at any level. Daniels tried hard but did not posess any play making skills. I re thought that Robinson was a great backup guard and a asset if used correctly

Ali is gone, one wonders why we care? Clearly he felt that other places were more in his interest.

A reserve guard is USUALLY not good enough to put up a lot of points, etc, against the better, best players(college players, pros, Wroten, etc), like Jervae Robinson, CJ Elleby, Noah Williams did in the JAMAL CRAWFORD NBA PLAYER SPONSORED PRO AM.

Usually players who PRODUCE, play in the Pro Am, START, PRODUCE in college.

Isabell who played in the Jamal Crawford Pro Am, went on to score about 23, 25,27 ppg for a GOOD MID MAJOR TEAM as the STARTER.

Sometimes a Jamal Crawford Pro Am player will sometimes not start, but that is RARE, and if that happens, its usually because the PLAYER PISSED AWAY OPPORTUNITY, NOT lack of talent.

Also Smith put the writing on the wall, that Robinson was obviously going to be the starting PG, not Ali.

If that was wrong and Ali was going to be the starting PG, instead of Robinson, Ali wouldnt have transfered.

But Ali saw that Robinson was going to be the starting PG, so thats probably why Ali transfered.

And if your saying that you know better then Smith, that Smith shouldnt start Robinson, that Smith should have been willing to start Ali, instead of Robinson, so that Ali would not have transfered, because Ali is better then Robinson, because you know better then Smith, and better then the Jamal Crawford Pro Am, then:

YOUR WRONG
