Thought that I'd mention that Bernard will be running in the US Olympic marathon trials on Saturday. At age 45 he will be trying to make his 6th Olympic team. He would be the oldest Olympic runner in US history (of course that is a record he already holds - he placed 6th in the 5k four years ago at 41).
This could be the last significant race of his great career because he's definitely a longshot to make the team. His qualifying time is not in the top 20 in the field. He's only run two full marathons ever. He just returned from six weeks of intensive training in Kenya to prepare for this.
