You can pick up an easy five grand in Las Vegas if you guys feel that way. The betting line now favors the cougs by 1 to 1 1/2 pts. Just put your money down to back your thoughts. As i said before i will not touch this game.

Only one 'UW' will win their game this weekend. Which one will it be? Hint: I consider the weekend to start Friday after 5pm. Don't Badger me for more details.

As for our game against a UW?
WSU 28
UWyo 17
We miss 2 field goals to start off but get on a roll.
Hopefully, we will go 2-0 against UW's this year. But, I'm at happy hour and already on the optimistic side of life :).

New QB, new DC, question marks on both lines... not to mention Leach’s recent history with openers. Everything here points to a Wyoming victory and therefore the Cougs will probably win.

31-28 WSU

Thanks Chop. Assume you will update this list before gametime. And I - uh I mean we - will laugh later at the fools.

One thing I don't understand is why so many predict a low scoring game. I think Minshew is going to light up the sky in Laramie. Beneath these Western Skies as Chris LeDoux (Wyomian, RIP) would say.

And I fixed your comment above.

32-17 WSU

Phelps invented the Speed D with his tweaking of our line. Grinch was a secondary coach. Manning was a ra ra guy, recruiter. Phelps trained under Claeys who shut down WSU in the Holiday bowl. Our defense should continue to improve.

Let me spell it out, then: since I put quotes around "speed D" it was to indicate that "speed D" was a term that the previous coaching staff used and most likely will not be used by the current coaching staff.

I expect Minshew to come out trying to prove he should be the man and throw 4tds/2int, 300+ yds. Add in a rushing score and a FG and Crimson goes for 38.

The Jimmy rustlers D won't have the speed to keep us from going vertical, but they will get to GM 3 times and hold the rushing to under 100.

Their offense will attempt to shove it down our throats, but our experienced LB corps keeps them in check and forces them to take to the air, leading to 2 picks for the Cougs. They will be able to capitalize off one of the GM picks though as well as get into fg range twice leading to 13 total points.

Crimson and Gray 38
Poop and Pee 13

For clarification, I choose to be negative until proven otherwise for the following reasons.

We start slow
We lose openers against teams far worse then WYO even when we were a far better team
We are outplayed when a team has a long time to prepare
We don’t fair as well in adjustments against good coaches
We’re breaking in a QB
We have a Dline that on paper is not good

Realistically I see this game as a 28-20 WYO based on the fact that we won’t stop their RB, and their D could stifle our inexperienced qb. I will not be shocked if we win by 2-3 td if it’s all clicking, but history says otherwise.

The late Las Vegas "smart money" is going on the pokes. The betting line now favors the cougs at -1 and there was one "pickum "among casinos and offshore betting lines.. Easy money for the coug fans thinking cougs win big! I have no prediction other than not to bet on this game. There are too many variables I expect a very close game .

It’s freakin Wyoming

52-10 good guys.

If you knew what you were freakin talking about, "It's freakin Wyoming", then you wouldn't embarrass yourself so badly. The Wyoming defense was ranked preseason #10 in the whole nation for FBS, and yes that includes all of the P5 schools. Andrew Wingard (6'-0", 215, Sr.) was preseason First Team All-American at Safety. Carl Granderson (6'-5", 261, Sr.) is a first team MWC DE and from reports with NFL GM's if he had come early last season he would have been no worse than a 3rd Round Choice. Youhanna Ghaifan, (6'-4", 290, Jr.) DT is a physical freak in the weight room, played soccer in Africa before coming to America, is also being looked at by NFL scouts this preseason. Logan Wilson (6'2", 250, Jr.) MLB that is being looked at by NFL scouts. Behind these guys are a lot of depth and experience.

Interesting note on Carl Granderson, I follow WSU recruiting as well as Wyoming (I graduated from Wyoming but lived in Washington State years ago, both of my daughters were born in Washington State so I followed the Cougs for a long time.) However my main team are the Pokes and I will be in the stands rooting for my Pokes with all my might. But back to Carl, he was a Wazzu recruit as well. Went on a recruiting trip to Pullman that last weekend but the Cougs didn't offer. He came out of HS at 6'-5" 185, so I guess the Cougs didn't want a project. Wyoming has a great training program and he went to a place where he flourished, and as they say the rest is history, and this weekend Carl will break the heart of the Cougs in Laramie.

I think that it will be a close game, but Wyoming lost nothing from the defense that was the No.1 turnover defense in America last year. I know that New Mexico St. isn't a great team but when you hold an FBS team to -9 yards rushing for the whole game that is impressive. The lone New Mexico St. score came with about a minute left in the game with our 3rd team defense in.

The Wyoming offense will be the question in my mind. But the Pokes will be playing at home at 7,220 feet and I am sure we won't be held out of the end zone. The Wyoming defense will be one of the best that Wazzu faces this year in all honesty, and there is no way that Wazzu scores 52 on the Pokes. I fully expect the Pokes to come up with several turnovers against the Cougs. I think that the game will be tight but the Pokes pull it out in the end as the Pokes have an excellent Kicker and Punter and Coach Bohl prides himself on playing field position with his special teams.

Wyoming is a strange team to figure out. My brain tells me the Cougs could run away with this but my gut is telling me it's going to be tight. Looking at Wyoming's results from last year it feels all over the map. Oregon blew the doors off them, but they had a nice win against a decent Colorado State team. Any team with a decent defense was able to hold them down point wise and that was with an all star QB leading the way. So if the Cougs can stop the run and force them to throw I like our chances.

Cougs 31 Pokes 17

Sorry (not really), but the Pac-12 Cougs should beat your WAC - Oops MWC - team handily. Your team that went 8-5 and 5-3 in the WAC - oops MWC - with your first round draft pick QB, and lost big to the two Power 5 teams it played, including to the 7-6 Ducks - at home.

So if you win, come on back and I will eat some crow. Until then, yeah it is freaking Wyoming. Home of Chris LeDoux and jackalopes and Yellowstone (all good), and Dick Cheney (pretty much the devil incarnate).

And home state of Wyoming alum Matthew Shepard (also good), just not what happened to him.

How do you like your crow? I am really going to enjoy coming back and serving it to you.

Bringing up the Matthew Shepard stuff is about as low as someone can get, that happened years ago. Frankly his death, which was a tragedy, was a cause for the Gay movement, and frankly what I heard from people in Laramie, his death was due to a drug deal gone bad.....but that doesn't fit into the LGBT game plan so guess what, the press follows what is popular. Frankly you disgust me for bringing up a tragic event that happened years ago and has absolutely nothing to do with the game this weekend.

Considering what the far left has done to the once beautiful city of Seattle, filthy and littered with drug needles, I don't think that I would start running down another state. Dick Cheney's daughter is a Congresswoman from Wyoming and frankly I voted for her and I have the utmost respect for Dick Cheney. Obviously we do not agree on politics and frankly your bringing up the Matthew Shepard tragedy so you could use it against the State of Wyoming and the football team is classless and then interjecting politics when and where it doesn't belong indicates to me you are not a person that does a lot of actual research on your own but let others do your thinking for you.

Of course you’re confident in your teams chances on Saturday. That’s how it should be.

First of all, this is WSU's site. So don't come over here and tell me or any other Coug what to "bring up" on OUR site. Or tell me what belongs on MY site.

Second, the Matthew Shepard murder was a "drug deal gone bad...,from what you heard from people in Laramie"? Geezus Christ, WTF is wrong with you? He was beaten and strung up on a fence by people who admitted they faked being gay so that they could rob him. Then they beat him half to death and strung him up to die on a fence.

And finally, anyone who has the "utmost respect" for Dick Cheney, who got multiple preferential military deferments during Vietnam and later said that he "had other priorities" during that time rather than serve his country, but turned out to be the biggest war hawk on the planet, sending young men off to die, has a little research of their own to do.

You pretty much validated every pre-conceived notion that people might have about Wyomingians. Congratulations.

I second the apologies. I have a lot of respect for Wyoming's football team and know this game is one we probably lose if we don't play pretty well in. Plus Cougs really need to back off trashing another program for the historical strength of a football team.

The Shepard stuff is weak sauce as a flame. The sort of thing a Husky would do.

Dick Cheney is a c*cksucker who stole billions upon billions of tax dollars from U.S. citizens, and led us into one of the worst military endeavors in America history in Iraq which has let to brave men and women fighting a war based on “bad intelligence” to pad his own pockets while veterans have arms and legs blown off and can’t get medical care.

He is one of the worst human beings in American politics and honesty what he did as a public official would be considered treason by the likes of George Washington and other founding fathers.

Now I am getting pissed off. You apologize to a fan from another site who comes over here to talk $hit? And the "Shepard stuff is weak sauce"? Please explain that comment. And go back and read what that Wyoming redneck said about that horrible incident and explain it again. I don't give a F if it isn't football talk. You perpetuated it, as did the Wyoming Cheney loving redneck. So tell us why it is "weak sauce".

We have a rule that politics can't be brought up on the main sports forum over on the GoWyoGo page just for this reason. There is another forum where people can talk about anything that they want. We learned that talking politics allows some posters to hijack the page for their own personal gripe session and it runs off people who just wanted to have a place to discuss sports.

Loyal - calm down... have a Snickers. hirta wasnt talking $hit. He made some valid but potentially bias points as to why he thought Wyoming would win a closely contested game. Chill out. You are coming across as an A$$ hat. If you want to torch the guy, at least use football references.

hirta - sorry about that. You make some interesting points. To be honest, I don't know what to expect. I think we have better talent overall, but we typically under perform in these games... and Wyoming certainly has playmakers on the defensive side that could give us fits. Our run D was pretty solid last year. I'm not certain how it will be this year, but my guess is that we will make you throw the ball.

Not feeling good about this one at all. Wyo D looked very good last week (granted against NMSU.)

We suck in openers and especially road openers under Leach. This could go the way of the 2012 BYU game which was 30-6.

Heart: Cougs 42 Wyo 17
Head: Wyo 27 Cougs 18

You are absolutely right when you say that "my guess is that we will make you throw the ball." I have no doubt that the Cougs will pack the box, just about everyone does. I think the general perception of Poke fans is that our QB (Tyler Vander Waal) will have to throw well to win. One of our issues is our OC....he will keep running the ball even when it isn't successful sometimes. We feel that Tyler can throw well, he is a big young QB who is known to be a very accurate passer, but he still is a RFr.. He was in the system last year and knows it well. There really are a lot of variables in the game this Saturday.

Wazzu hasn't played a game yet this season and lost its DC and a fair amount of experienced talent on the defensive side from last season. Wazzu also starts a brand new QB with a number of new assistant coaches in the whole staff. But Wazzu runs an offense that is well known to be a successful offense on a yearly basis. What Wazzu runs is close to what BYU runs, so the Pokes are somewhat familiar with it. Just for my own info, I wonder how much Leach did to use up good feelings with the fan base when it was reported that he was already out the door to Tennessee?

Wyoming on the other hand already has a game under their belt that they played well in and this game will be in Laramie. Wyoming brings back virtually everyone from one of the most productive defenses in the nation last year. Several schools attempted to hire our DC but we upped his salary amongst other things and he stayed. The biggest questions for Wyoming are on the offensive side for sure. The OL is improved from last year, and that was a big problem from last year, but the Pokes have a young QB with not much game time under his belt.

Should be an interesting game.

Just FYI: Tracy Claeys and our HC (Craig Bohl) have known each other a long time. Bohl was at North Dakota State for 11 years and knew Kill and Claeys. My point, is that there will be no mystery about what the coaches will run, the only question will be in the execution.

28-20 Cougs. A hard earned 28 against a solid Wyoming D but Minshew is going to bring a swagger to the offense that we haven’t seen yet since Leach has been here. D does enough to hang on.
