I really wish we’d learn to make judicious use of a QB’s legs when we have one who can run. Some design QB runs would give the D something else to think about. The zone read run scheme isn’t gonna work. The OL can’t block them. They’re in the backfield taking the hand off.
They can’t block them 5 v 4 and the offense has done nothing to make the defense change. It’s all gas no brakes at the OL.

Not that it matters when the OL can’t block the base scheme.
There's 7-8 yards each play to run. Take it until they adjust. The QB running would help the OL immensely.

When USC goes to the Midwest, can they take the Refs with them. It should be part of the package.Refs took the over on game length also
I don't get why you sit in the pocket and make reads 3-4 seconds in...take the yards and move the chains. Then kill them with the passing game once things are open due to the legs.Yes. Move the chains. First downs lead to touchdowns. Make the defense prepare for run, pass and qb run. A running qb is a third dimension to your scheme. It takes pressure off your OL to hold blocks or steam roll guys. Make 2-3 reads and go. Run the pass game open.
Impartial officiating this game goes down to the wire. Not saying we win but the refs made this a game they had no chance to win. Sad for the players, spectators, viewers. Inexcusable but the conference continues to allow it/encourage it with no shame.Cougs showed that they can play with anyone in the conference. OSU game is a huge one on the road but if WSU plays with the same effort as tonight then I like their chances.
Need to cut out stupid mistKes, like lining up offside on a crucial 3rd downCougs showed that they can play with anyone in the conference. OSU game is a huge one on the road but if WSU plays with the same effort as tonight then I like their chances.

it starts with the visorLincoln Riley is giving me heavy douche vibes.
100% agree. You can’t burn up downs gaining 0 yards. For a long time coaches taught qbs to throw the ball away. Well shit man, how many times in a game are you gonna do that? Make the defense defend the pass and the run on the same down. Don’t let them focus on one or the other. The future of football is a running qb. The days of standing in the pocket and throwing downfield like Bledsoe and Leaf are coming to an end. Coaches like their $3,000,000+ salaries. At some point you can’t get fired because you were afraid of the qb running the ball. There is no supply shortage. WSU can find another runner at qb easily. Coaches can’t find ridiculous paychecks as easily.
We need to stop with the notion that CW is a prestigious runner; I've yet to see him get the edge on anyone or make anyone miss. He takes ridiculously long strides that makes it hard for him to change direction. Brink was a better runner imho, if we're comparing guys of similar size.I really wish we’d learn to make judicious use of a QB’s legs when we have one who can run. He’s fine if he climbs the pocket and takes off up the middle. He doesn’t have the speed to run around on the edge of the pocket. He’s athletic but he’s no Kyler Murray. Seems like he’s getting better at taking space in the middle of the field and moving up in the pocket, but most of the scrambles outside end up as throwawaysWe need to stop with the notion that CW is a prestigious runner; I've yet to see him get the edge on anyone or make anyone miss. That being said, if its wide open then yes of course get the 5+ yards and slide before you get your head taken off.
Not saying that he’s going to be a 100 yard rusher or anything, but if he gets 40 per game - picking up 5 yards here and there instead of throwing incompletions - that’s going to mean first downs, which is going to mean points. It’s also going to soften the pressure, because the defense has to think about it.We need to stop with the notion that CW is a prestigious runner; I've yet to see him get the edge on anyone or make anyone miss. I feel like the word on him while we were recruiting him was that he was a dual threat qb. I could be wrong about that, but I seem to remember thinking this kid is going to extend plays with his legs and be a threat to run, based solely on his scouting report. He's good at keeping the play alive, but he doesn't product a lot of positive results from running around for an extra couple of seconds. Not saying that he’s going to be a 100 yard rusher or anything, but if he gets 40 per game - picking up 5 yards here and there instead of throwing incompletions - that’s going to mean first downs, which is going to mean points. It would be interesting to get some wide lens views of what the receivers are doing when he’s scrambling around. They should be breaking off routes and moving with him and/or forcing DBs into holding penalties (not that they would have been called last night anyways). It’s very difficult to cover for that long, either Cam isn’t seeing guys break open or receivers aren’t working hard enough after their route. Also, against a pass rush like usc get back to the line and run a play. They are going to be gassed chasing him around.I feel like the word on him while we were recruiting him was that he was a dual threat qb. Renard Bell would've helped tremendously last night. He's probably the best at doing what you describe– helping the QB out on extended passing plays. It would be interesting to get some wide lens views of what the receivers are doing when he’s scrambling around.
