Let's for discussion purposes say I have in cash 200k to remodel, but I choose to spend 300k on the remodel which I don't have. Good luck with the remodel. I just put an 8 stall horse barn, was thinking about a remodel on the house but am going to wait it out for a couple years with hopes that lumber prices come down. A huge problem with politics now is the media. Candidates can’t get coverage by being reasonable. They have to find an issue and set it on fire. Extremes and outrage get attention, not common sense. We need moderates and 3rd party candidates, but they can’t get any traction in this environment. They need grassroots effort, and that’s pretty hard to pull off in a national campaign.
What do you guys think you are accomplishing with these incessant political debates among a handful of people on a WSU football message board with, at most, a couple dozen active posters? Serious question. Even if you write the most convincing political diatribe ever, managing to convince all 4-5 people on the other side of the argument of your view, what are you accomplishing? Very little even in that illusory hypothetical, and nothing in the real world. Is it to make the other few guys feel badly about themselves for being foolish enough to have different views than you, or to convince yourself that all that time wasted checking out your echo chamber of choice had an upside? Do you ever give this cost/benefit analysis serious consideration?

There is no doubt that the people supporting the truckers would be losing their minds if it was brown or black people blocking a highway. Freedom only matters if it matches your demographics and world view. In some peoples view of the world, brown people should remember that in the good ol' days, they understood their place in the world as laborers and servants.

FWIW, I have zero patience for protesters.....liberal, conservative, libertarian, whatever.....when they make the choice to have a protest that negatively impacts others for an extended period. When I say extended period, I mean more than an hour or doing something disruptive or criminal. Yell in a public park all day long, but don't block off streets for hours on end and don't tear stuff up.
I really don't care about what people are protesting about as long as they aren't screwing with someone else's day. When protesters damage property or refuse to allow access for others in public (or private) rights of way, they should be held accountable.....no matter what their protest is about.
