I’ve seen Ferris Buehlers day off about 100 times so I’m an expert on the laffer curve and voodoo economics.
Biden won’t because he’s had one and know what it will show. No other reason to refuse.That's pretty funny 90!And probably not that far off.
Speaking of Biden, I managed to see most of the disappointingly short interview in bits. Here's my take. Biden should take the cognitive test, whatever the F that is, and share it with the country - good, bad or meh. Voters deserve to know. With the caveat that Trump takes the same test by the same (impartial?) doctors. Aside from that, Biden's indignance doesn't play well with me. He's lost a step (at least). Shit when I'm 81 I will have lost several steps if I'm not dead. So answer questions directly. Don't avoid, like he did the cognitive test question. Admit that you have lost a step, but that you have plenty of steps left to do the job. Angry Joe can't match angry Trump. Thoughtful, relaxed, contemplative Joe may have a chance.
Remember that he forgot what year Beau died.
It's really said that these two are the best we can do. Both are obviously in serious decline. Watch any Trump rally, he has no idea where he is and routinely confuses people that he's talking about. Goes on weird rants that his uncle was a prof at MIT, and he himself passed a test to determine if he needs somebody to wipe him on the regular. So, he's super smart before going off about dying due to being electrocuted from a battery on a boat or getting eaten by a shark. And Joe, good gravy, the dude hasn't lost a step, he's lost the whole flight of stairs. Anybody thinking either one of them is fit for office is bananas.
I sat down and watched the entire interview earlier today, and actually thought Biden did pretty well. If the debate hadn't happened, I don't think he would have gotten much flak at all from the interview.
But he F-ed up the question about the cognitive test. Let the highly cerebral Loyal One provide two better answers:
1. " I'm going to say no right as we sit here, I don't need one. But, I have been thinking about it. If it is the only way to silence the doubters, maybe I will."
2. (Loyal's preferred answer) " Tell you what - I'm willing to take a full mental and cognitive test if Donald Trump will submit to one as well. And release both to the nation. Same impartial doctor(s). Of course, he says that he aced one when he was President, 4 or 5 years ago was it? Trump says that one was administered by his doctor, and I quote him, "Dr. Ronny Johnson". Oh wait, his doctor at the time was Ronny Jackson, not Johnson. Could it be a sign of cognitive decline when you can't even remember your doctor's name?"
That 30 seconds of Ben stein explanation was easier to understand than my entire semester of Econ 102.
The Laffer curve should have died a quick death under the mountain of evidence that it doesn’t work. But…it fits republican dogma so well they keep it around. If it somehow finds conditions where it’s accurate, government revenue increases and they look like geniuses. When it doesn’t work, revenue doesn’t go up (or goes down) and then they can say we can’t afford social programs. Either way, republicans get what they want.
I had never really heard of the Laffer curve (I blame Econ 102 and 202 at WSU. And/or 301? Have to dig out my transcript). So I did a lengthy read. The basic premise is outstanding - tax rates of -0- or 100% result in no tax revenue (what a concept), and the ideal rate is something in between. I should have just stopped there. My dog could have come up with that. Master, if you don't feed me I will starve to death, if you force feed me constantly, I will blow up and die. Something in between is ideal. Woof!
Have to throw this article and video(s) in, with regard to Trump and Project 2025, that Trump "knows nothing" about and has "no idea" who's behind it. In addition to the article itself, scroll down and watch the 2nd video where the guy lists all the former Trump staffers who authored the various chapters of Project 2025. And shows us a recent Trump post where he compliments the Heritage Foundation's President, Kevin Roberts. The Heritage Foundation is behind Project 2025 and Roberts authored the forward to the plan.

Apparently there is a story starting to bubble up about the White House physician consulting with a Parkinson's specialist.
Not so sure this is a bad thing. "Cannard has been a part of the broader White House medical team of doctors since 2012"

Editing to add- I had one case that dealt with a cognitive test. There may be others, but I believe the most commonly used is called MMSE. This is the version used in BC. It appears consistent with the one I saw.

And your Trump annual physical article is 4 years old. mentions approximately -0- about any cognitive tests being performed, and implies that his last "full" physical was in 2019. So how does that equate to 2024?

Why else would Biden not agree to take a test and release the results? I'm sure he and his campaign would love to move past his decisive victory over Medicare, the internal battle in the Democratic Party and the media scrutiny.
Offhand, the doctor should be able to assert doctor-patient privilege.
Kinda surprised the Rs played that card so quickly. Seems like the smarter move would have been to let that story linger for a day or so, then issue the subpoena.

And Biden says his doctors told him he "was fine". There are no results that they aren't releasing, because, IMHO, he hasn't gone through whatever the F the tests are. So why else are they not "releasing results" (your words buddy) from tests that didn't happen?

Today, KJP is refusing to identify the neurologist that has been to the White House eight times in eight months, and trying to stand behind some privacy concerns about veterans that are supposedly treated at the White House. Why do you believe Biden or KJP at this point?
The most obvious thing for Biden to do is to take a test and release the results. Biden is refusing. Why would he do so? The obvious answer is that he (or at least his staff) knows the results. Think about the opportunity he has to erase concerns about his cognitive ability. If he's fine, why not do the damn test on TV? Let America see him being asked questions about what country, state, city he's in, and Biden's answers.
I appreciate fact that Trumpers never change. It's obvious to everyone that Biden is in decline. I was worried that the debate would be a disaster for Biden and it was worse than that. I also think that watching Trump spew out his word salad, confused ramblings are proof that he is also in decline. However, you don't want to see that tested because you fear the results, so you pretend that four years of aging for Trump doesn't matter. Just like everything else, ,you'll stick your head in the sand to ignore anything negative with regards to your dear leader.

Uhhh. I’m here to tell you if that’s your response you know nothing about Parkinson’s. My dad has Parkinson’s. My parents have a number of friends with Parkinson’s through foundations they work with. I can tell you they are all different. They might label it Parkinson’s but it’s like labeling a kid with autism. There’s almost limitless variations of the disease.
