Yeah, BYU clearly watched the Stanford tape. They are using their safeties to take away the over the top stuff we saw vs Stanford. The intermediate routes hash to hash have been open, especially with Harris. I think they need to keep hitting it to get BYU's safeties to pull up. Maybe some slants. Otherwise I'm not liking the play calling.

Another key play was the int by de Laura. Penalties also stopped 3-4 drives. BYU played it clean.
WOW....my guess was that Algier was going to get the ball on 3rd down.
The guy is a tank but I thought the Cougs were going to get the ball back with 50 seconds left.
BYU is a decent team and played smart but I wanted to see that last drive.

If I counted right, Cougars only had 3 offensive possessions in the 2nd half. Scored on two of them. Just not enough. Missed PAT attempt was a killer, as was the inability to stop Allgier in the second half. Good effort, no question that the team played hard for the interim coach and each other.

All things considered, this wasn’t terrible. We could easily have not showed up at all this week, but instead played pretty well and we’re in a position to win. Could argue that 4-5 plays had lack of focus that cost us, but it was not a disaster.
Trips to Tempe often go really badly for the Cougs, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next week. We still need 2, it’d be nice to get 1 of them before UA.

Guess what you guys are saying is a team loss, part coaching, part offense, defense and special teams. Have to agree. De Laura pressed too much, tried to make too many big throws instead of letting the the faster, better athletes do what they do. i.e. make small plays big plays.
I've been complaining about this all game...and I normally don't complain about the refs....but how TF do you go 11 plays without holding?!
I have to admit, Chaz did a decent job today. Kept the commentary on the Rolo situation neutral, didn’t make many bone headed mistakes, and stayed very positive even at the end.
Yeah at least on my first watching as a fan, we just got beat. Missed extra point hurt. But we had the game on 3ed and 7when we knew they were gonna run...and couldn't stop them. Take your medicine..have. a shot of Buffalo Trace and on to the next
This was win-win for Coach D and the Cougs. If they win, they “overcame adversity.” If they lose, it is Rolo’s fault. Either way, they come out smelling like roses.
