Pat Chun accused of verbal assault...by a Pullman councilman.

No, the definition of CRT is pretty widely publicized and accepted. The recent hysteria caused by fragile white people does not change that.
White fragility this...white supremecy that.

Next thing you know you are gonna make like Jamele Hill and tell everyone how white supremecy won the Virginia election....even though the liuetenant governor elect is Black...and an immigrant

But those racist Republicans...

ok...well that was my interpretation of the event. If someone says they are voting a certain way on a certain issue..but can't explain what the issue in question is, to me thats dumb.

Anyhow, not sure what this study of one proves.

This is a legit question...what is it about CRT that is so bothersome that even if it is taught that it creates such an uproar? According to what I have read Youngkin couldn't produce one district that "taught" CRT, yet it was being protested over. I get woke can be overdone. It is annoying, but what policies have affected our lives? The frickin dems can't even string together an infrastructure bill, so what policies over the last 10 years have impacted our lives? The only one I can think of is the affordable care act.

BLM? What changed by that slogan? What policies have been enacted to support that movement? How about defund the police. Great slogan, dumbest one ever. Didn't seem to get tractions. Even Al Sharpton is against defund the police.

Those seem to be hot buttons, cultural stuff that has yet to drive policy. What we have seen is the conservative party spend money the last four years, redistrict, change voting laws. Why were there voting laws changed this year and not in 18/16/14/12/10/08 etc? What was different about 2020? And the truth is the natural course would have reversed like it did in Virginia. And in the end, it is very shortsighted on the Republican's part, cause what happens if the demographics keep on changing...and why are there only recounts in certain suburban areas? Maybe it is only coincidental.

You know the answer to this one too Ed. When your position on a lot of the issues are unpopular, you have to make up fake issues to bullshit people about and drive fear. That’s the only playbook right now that can win, along with making it difficult for folks to vote. My kids have never heard of CRT and they are in middle/HS. No teachers or administrators are bringing it up. It’s 100% BS.

Lot of questions there..

I'll just talks about the CRT aspect.

When parents are being interviewed that their kids are coming home asking if they are bad because they are White...that is a problem.

Why do you think it is such a hot button issue with parents...many who are minorites who I have seen interviewed?

Constantly focusing on the color of ones skin seems to be the democrat strategy all day every day.

From what I've gathered from the interviews and videos of parents speaking at these board meetings, the focus is on demonizing white people and teaching black people that they are victims.

Aside from being F'd up, how does that prepare the kids for life?

It is a top down strategy from the Whitehouse and media on down. You just had Joy Reid on MSNBC how dangerous the Republican party is and that we are all white supremacists.

It's divisive to day the least.

And you have a relative in the school system. You can ask that person what is going on

Let me ask you this: What do you like about it? What good is coming from this? Why are parents so pissed off?

It surely isn't because of Tucker Carlson and his magical powers.

Ed,
Police has been defunded in several cities to the point of being a crisis, Portland being front and center among them. This isnt right wing propaganda, it's real and verifiable. Crime has skyrocketed in Portland since, especially violent crime and shootings. Again, real and verifiable.

The state of WA made the BLM Manifesto part of the Black history month curriculum, again true and verifiable. Go read it and tell us what you think of their 13 points.

Be better, do some research.

Racial divide isn’t anything new. Affirmative action isn’t anything new. There’s no way to have programs like that and not have some reverse racism and frustration come out of it. People of every race are racist that’s not new. Attaching a new label to something racially driven and pounding it into peoples heads to drive fear is the political strategy.

You're right, and every new generation thinks they've discovered it for the first time and that they have the unique, new solution for it.

Get your facts straight here.... Non-white republicans are brainwashed pawns that only serve as a mouthpiece for the white-supremacist agenda. Surprised you didn't know this already!

So it should be taught in schools then...whatever the label?

Should history? Yes…because that’s all “it” is and “it’s” been a part of American education since forever. Slavery, The civil rights movement, women’s suffrage (let’s see if that trips anyone up), are all components of the so-called CRT which has been around since forever. Should that stuff be included in history? It always has been. It’s not like anything materially is changing with how history’s taught or there’s some big movement. It’s a false flag that’s being amplified to drive fear. And yup it’s working.

You obviously don't have kids in school and if you do, the gaslighting needs to stop. At the core of CRT is baseline judgment of individuals based on skin color, simple as that. If you are white, you oppress. If you are brown/black, you are a victim. Get over yourself and do some reading on the subject and the associated folks pushing this garbage. You will be enlightened.

History has always been taught in schools. We didn't have this sort of division when I was growing up or pissed off parents.

The difference now is how it is being taught and being framed

When a presidential candidate says if you don't vote for me, you ain't black, mainstream media painting all Republicans as racists and white supremacists, it not hard to see that it trickles down into school systems run by the far left.

Apparently parents believe their kids these days. Who would have thought?

I can answer some of your questions. But is this the real issue? "the Republican party is and that we are all white supremacists."? That people who are Republican are seen as white supremacist's? I think the Republican party is multifaceted. What has come out in the last 4 years is more of a tolerance of those groups. They have been empowered.

Does that make all Republican's racists? Nope. But there lack of action can have the same impact. Do you disagree with this? Do I think the fact only urban areas are accused of ballot fraud is racist? I think it has as much to do with power than someone actually feeling ill towards a group. Do I believe Brian Kemp is racist? Impossible for me to know what is in his heart, but over the years have I seen statements and policy that shows that he is? I have not. However, his action and inaction around BS election fraud has changed how elections are conducted. What is the difference in the 2020 election and all previous elections that prompted changed, especially at the Sec of State position? Why make that change and why have a revamped system in 2020 vs any other year? Could it be because minority turn out? Do I think Kemp said "hey I cant stand black people and let's not let them vote? Nope. I think he said I want to stay in power and I will do what I need to do along with the rest of my party. However, whatever the motivations are there is an impact. Do you disagree with that?

In terms of speaking to speaking of race in the classroom, I don't know why parents are so upset. In Texas the kids from a school where the parents were protesting said they had enough, that the school wasn't even teaching it and there were way more important issues.

Do I believe CRT should be taught at a young age? As Bill Maher said, if teaching CRT is to learn about something fine, if it about guilt and reparations then no he isn't, and I believe that is solid. And for little Johnny coming home and asking if he is bad because he is white. The answer is no. That is what parenting is about. You can't be responsible for something that happened in the past. All you can do is be a good person and aware in the future.

And through each passing generation, they are seeing race less and less. What I can tell you is I recently saw a birth certificate, and on it the race was "negroid". Now this is someone who fought in WWII, and met his wife overseas. That person couldn't vote after putting his life on the line for his country, but his wife who eventually became a US citizen could vote before he could. That isn't all that long ago.

Now his grandfather was white, his grandmother was black, his father was bi-racial and his mother was native American. When his granddaughter was born they (US census) wanted the parents to put down black even tho the mother was multiracial, and the father was white. That was less than 25 years ago. Why do you think that is?

So with each passing generation the more the music and pop culture intermingles, the less race will matter to these generations. So the parents trying to save their kids really might not need to be the ones who are saved. However, there will always be those who want to hang on to the old days. Some for power, others for ideology reasons. And maybe a form of CRT is important class to understand for the kids where all of this comes from and why.

History does not or should not include telling white kids they are evil, bad, and are masters, etc, and telling black kids that they are slaves, victims, and have no opportunity, etc, and that the american dream is closed to them because they are black.

That's what CRT is, whether its acknowledged as that or not.

And that CRT being taught, pissing off parents, is wrong, bad, and is in fact wrongly taught in a COUPLE, FEW, SOME, places, schools, school districts, by a couple, few, some teachers, to some kids, whether acknowledged as CRT or not.

The parents are not lying, saying what they are saying for no reason. The parents have shown up close video proof of marked, highlighted, CRT stuff, words, concepts, etc, on official curriculum papers, and reading it aloud as well.

This proof is not wrong.

And these parents are not wrong, not lying, and are not pissed for no reason.

They are pissed because either their kids have told them about some CRT stuff being taught them, an or the parents had, have found CRT stuff in the curriculum.

I have seen these sources.

You obviously don't have kids in school and if you do, the gaslighting needs to stop. At the core of CRT is baseline judgment of individuals based on skin color, simple as that. I have two white kids in mid/HS thanks. This is not an issue, nor has it ever been. They have been in two different school districts And yes I’m an involved parent I meet the teachers, I look at the curriculum. This is a big nothingburger.

I can't comment on Brian Kemp or the voting issues you talk about as I know nothing about Brian Kemp. I didn't follow that whole situation.

I do believe in Voter ID laws. I know, the left think its racist. I think its racist to suggest that African Americans are incapable of obtaining ID.

I agree with Bill Mahrer. No problem there.

I disagree with your quote about each generation seeing race less and less.

A wiseman once said "Its all ball bearings these days". Swap ball bearings with race and you have an accurate statement.

Everything is about race these days. You can't escape it. Its all the leftist media talks about all day every day. Jemele Hill just said how we love our white supremacy here in America after the Virginia election.

When that sort of statement is acceptable, Houston, we have a problem.

Doesn't mean it is not happening in other school districts across the country just because it is not happening in yours.

Ahhh the whole "Racist dogwhistle" argument. Being a liberal yourself, you definitely know how fear is used as major tool of the Democratic party platform to get elected. This is not a fear driven issue for Republicans. This is a major concern for people of all party affiliations that hate is being taught in schools and is being used to establish and promote a new generation of victimization. CRT is not a curriculum as much as it is an ideology of the left of which many educators are a part of. Its happening here in the small town that I live in. My nephew has shown me projects and materials related to discussions related to CRT type propaganda. You live in la la land.

One, I would encourage you to look into what Georgia and Arizona did and tell me what you see. Tell me if it is racist, a power grab and if it affects those who have every right to vote in this country.

Two, Stacey Abrams came out in favor of voter ID (as a negotiating tactic to eliminate other voter restrictions) and I believe Joe Manchin put voter ID on the table in a federal voter reform effort. Yes, ideally everyone gets to vote. If I were voters of color, and I was having a hard time getting the proper ID to vote, go get a hunting license in Georgia. The dems just need to be smarter than they are.

It is interesting you see Jemele Hill as a threat. She was taken off ESPN if I recall correctly, and what is her current platform? She doesn't have a national audience. That's the voice you choose to listen to? Meanwhile, there is Tucker who is on the largest news channel with a greater appeal and spouts off the lies he does and that doesn't move the needle. Hill isn't even the fly in the ointment. Tucker is the ointment.

In terms of parenting and what kids are saying, while I don't consider myself the only expert on the matter, I do have experience of having two kids and know all their friends. CRT isn't the issue that is bothering them. Many of the kids were at the BLM rallies until things started to go the wrong direction and they got out. IT would be akin to Charlottesville when there were those who came to the party strictly honoring the monument, then when the Tiki torches came out the good people should have left. Just as my daughter did and her friends. They don't see BLM as a terrorist org, they see their support for their friends.

Yes, race will be continue to be an issue. Three guys hunt down and kill a black man who simply was out on a jog. The three men "thought" he stole something from a construction site. Did they see him steal anything? No. Was he armed? No. How was it a gun went off and killed this black man? If you thought you saw a suspect why weren't the police called? NONE of these questions were ever asked. WHY? How is it nothing hapopened to these men for two months until a video surfaced?

Now the jury is seated in the trial. A trial of his peers. Eleven white jurors, one black. You wonder why weren't these guys questioned more before a video came out and showed what had happened. Just shotty police work? Maybe these aren't signs to be concerned about, but sure makes me say hmmmm.

And yes, race will be a concern and more of one since Trump seemed to have awaken a dangerous element in our society. And when we see a kid in Wisconsin walk past cops with a loaded AR 15 and said he shot people and they let him walk, but unarmed black people are shot in the back, yes there will be a sensitivity to it. If you are being honest, if what happened at the capitol on Jan 6 were armed and unarmed black people, how many do you believe would have been shot? Personally I think it would have been way more than 1.

Well the convo was about CRT...but the things you mention are horrible. Yes, there is racism in the country...but now everything gets blamed on racism and white supremacy.

Where I have a problem is when Joy Reid and her cronies say things like Republicans are dangerous and white supremacists. Jemele HIll as 1.4 million twitter followers.

I don't feel like going back and forth on this anymore.

You thought Chop/Chaz was ok...even when I told you that I heard gun shots outside my window on at least 2 different occasions during that time and had to call 911 several times.,,so we aren;t going to change each others minds.

You seem to think it is ok what is being taught in some schools. Just because it is not happening in your school district or 90's doesn't mean it is not happening. Again, ask our relative what is going on in their school district.

I personally think parents have a right to be pissed off....but apparently that is all just fear mongering.

Jason Rantz dug up some training documents for Seattle City employees and their anti-whtieness training...I read it and it is pretty disgusting...so not hard to see how that trickles down into leftist dominated school districts.

And I have seen plenty of Tucker...and haven't caught him in lies or say anything racist like others accuse him of being. Can't say the same for Don Lemon the race baiter.

You are correct. I do have a problem with parents are protesting CRT when it isn't being taught in their school or district. How do I know this...out of the mouth of babes. I have zero problem when they are in high school being taught history. All history. If we have to l know about the holocaust, I don't think it is out of line to tell people that we went to the continent of Africa to get free labor. I have zero problem with letting people know our ancestors threw woman and children over the side of the boat because food rations were short. I have zero problem telling the truth about black men being hung because of the color of their skin.

In terms of Chop/Chaz....yeah we will disagree. I said it was a novel attempt to reduce tension so more violence did not occur. If chop closed down two days earlier it would have been a brilliant success. It was portrayed as this violent area 24/7, and it was not. Trump was wanting to send in the national guard. How do you think that would have turned out.

Durkin tried something and ultimately it didn't work. I am not sure firing guns at peaceful protestors like your niece and her friends really would have been good either.

Well we certainly see Carlson in a very different light.

Donald Trump wanted to send the national guard in because you had that stupid rapper Rezza or whatever his name is on video passing out assault rivals like they were Halloween candy... as well as plenty other reports of guns as well as the fact our mayor did absolutely nothing about it. Just allowed for to continue.

Heck, I saw someone I knew that I used to work with at Belltown Billiards back in 2000 being interviewed and you could clearly see the gun he had in him.

In addition, there was at least one rape reported inside chop.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how that could go wrong...and it did...just as I said it would.

And Mayor Durkan has blood in her hands for allowing it to happen.

As for what is being taught in schools, teaching hate is wrong. Plain and simple.

And that is why the parents are pissed.

History is factual. Present it as it happened - good and bad, pretty and ugly. No need to editorialize it or project. Just the facts, ma'am.

Nobody today threw anybody off slave ships. And factually, as a descendant of Scandanavians and Irish immigrants, none of my ancestors threw anybody off slave ships either.

There you go again…calling me a liberal. I’ve told you and your buddies over and over I’m not. At all. I lived in Seattle and hate what those dipshits did to the city. I don’t want to take your guns. I see both sides of the abortion argument. I grew up Christian. In a republican household. I believe my eyes and ears. I don’t have to go chasing the next boogeyman to reaffirm what I want to believe. Get it yet?

Sponge. I’m not arguing that some of this shit isn’t happening at all. It probably is. The 2% rule always has and always will be. Bad cops. Coaches that cheat. Embezzling businessmen….you F’in name it. What I’m arguing is there’s nothing different going on today with the 2% of asshats pushing that crap as there was 10 years ago or 50 years ago. What’s different is the label tied to it politically to get all these parents pissed off about something that flat out isn’t an issue 98% of the time. Just as it’s always been. Hell there’s political strategists bragging out loud about how they turned this thing which was nothing into a vote changing machine. The people who are amplifying the message for political purposes are admitting it’s bullshit at its core.

Doesn't mean it is not happening in other school districts across the country just because it is not happening in yours.
I don't think CRT is good or bad all by itself. I have zero problem with kids being taught different perspectives, in fact I think that's a great idea. Probably would be good if a lot of their parents learned it too.

But it's got to be delivered in way that provides information and context, but not passing judgement. Most kids are going to look at objective information about the slave trade or the Indian wars, and they're not going to think that's the way it should have been. There's no need to shame them for it.

Problem is there are too many times (and I think it's about the instructor more than the district) that the value judgement is being made before the class starts, and spoon fed to the students. It would be so much better if we gave kids information and let them reach conclusions - you know...critical thinking - rather than giving them the desired conclusion and then telling them how we got there.

Well....not sure the assault rifles are illegal, but I digress. Were any of the assault weapons used? Chaz worked until it didn't. Charlotte was a peaceful protest until some guy got behind the wheel. So it didn't take a brain surgeon either to see where the protest in Charlotte would go.

So if innocent people got hurt if they used more force, Durkin would have had blood on her hands as well. If she cleaned up two days earlier people would have said it was a brilliant way to deescalate the problem.

But I only have one question for you...are you against teaching the truth about our history of slavery and what happened during that time?

If we are to believe anything in the S Times article that just dropped on Rolo's appeal, Chun sure does seem like a tough guy. At least he thinks he is a tough guy, makes this whole deal make sense now.

Never had an issue with teaching the truth. That's not the issue As observer said, just the facts mam.

I am pretty sure handing out assault rivals like candy is illegal...I can't believe you think this is a good idea

Pretty sure I mentioned the rape that happened. So no it was a never good idea

Also can't believe you thought it was good idea after I told you at least twice there were shots outside my apt. Good thing I wasn't taking out the trash.

I guess tell the parents of the kids who got murdered in Chop what you thought of it and see how that goes.

Wait are you being sarcastic about fake tough guys?!

Sponge....I have very few things in a discussion that make me scratch my head. I try not to put words in your mouth, but you just did that to me. Please pull out the statement I said it was "still a good idea". I said I understand the rationale behind it. If no one was shot it would have been a good idea. But to use excessive force on that crowd wouldn't have made a ton of sense either. All I said if it ended a day earlier Durkins idea would have been considered brilliant in this instance.

Have you ever seen or heard gun violence before? So while chop may have been too lax, there has been gun violence before and not sure that is totally out of the norm. Maybe it was....

There is a case where a kid carried an AR 15 during a BLM rally, shot and killed two people. Fox presented as he did it in self defense. He walked up to cops with his hands up, people said he shot people and nothing happened to him. So people do get killed whether it is at chop or the streets of Kenosha. We will see if he is convicted or not.

Also, you and I am in complete agreement then about teaching history as it was, the unvarnished truth. No different than the bombing of Pearl and other historical events.

Hell, the same thing has happened here on this forum, just at a different level in society... At some point in time in not-so recent history, this used to be a place for people with a common Coug interest to get together to talk sports. That's long gone. Possibly for ever. Now it's degraded to a place where FRINGE issues (that strategists have elected to use as political fodder and we as society have bought in to) are used by our own members to bust each other's chops. Seems like that any time a new sport related thread is started that it's a race to see who can use it to grandstand their own political or fringe views and slam anyone that dare oppose those views. If this whole thing weren't such a sad indicator of our society it would be funny... And yet we keep feeding it (even in the midst of a pretty cool football season that is quickly turning into a feel-good story due to our players and coaches adamant attitudes to ignore all the bullshit).

I agree, no one today threw anyone off the boats. Not sure what your point is?

He’s a innocent white guy and no one has the right to make him feel guilty for anything or he’ll raise some serious Cain at the next school board meeting?

Ed,
Police has been defunded in several cities to the point of being a crisis, Portland being front and center among them.

This is not what is happening in Portland.

“Be better, do some research”. Lol.

Research. I do not think that word means what you think it means.
