Someone with name and cache that doesnt need the money but still wants to coach .

Short term they probably should step out of the bowl game .

Timing sucks as Jason Eck would have been a nice fit.

Eck would have been solid. WSU is a better job than UNM. Not that either are all that great at this time.

Maybe he Mike Price'd and didn't sign the contract.

That's a hard no, and also Meyer isn't ever coaching at Wazzu. Neuheisel? When did he coach in college last time?

How about when was the last time Neuheisel was actually successful? 2000?

Find an up and comer, build the program, and try to cultivate potential internal hires for continuity.

Should try to get the James Madison coach, but I'm a) doubtful we could afford him, and b) is WSU a better job?

Any thoughts on how Dickert will do at Wake Forest? Tough job. About as good as he could get, though.

By the way, Wake Forest's endowment fund is about double that of Wazzu's. Small school. He's going to have a tough time winning there, even if the unstable ACC is a not strong conference.

Ed, with all due respect to your suggestion, those two coaches harbored killers on their teams
I don’t think grabbing guys who’ve been enjoying the tv life is really the way to go.

They’ve made their money and had their success at the highest college level how motivated are they gonna be to win a p12 title which is basically the equivalent of a MWC title?

Gotta find someone hungry to win at the FBS level. I think there’s plenty of guys that can coach, recruiting is the wild card. Its always been hard selling Pullman, it’s become that much harder in the last couple of years.

This business is as dirty as it’s ever been though, so I say F it and go all in on being dirty. Have strippers in the FOB, ignore “dead periods” and contact players whenever you want to. F the NCAA, they aren’t policing shit anymore anyways.

Strippers? Like Oregon does?

😆

The last thing an accomplished coach who doesn't need money wants to do is step in at WSU. There are numerous reasons.

Since this is a ridiculous thread anyway, I'll just say Pete Carroll. Not that it will ever happen.....

We need a name that buys us three years .And if it costs an extra mil we dont have, find it.

These guys very rarely get coaching completely out of their blood

Pete is tanned rested and ready to step in @USC
I'm thinking Bama fires DeBoer next season and Jennifer Cohen hires him at USC.

HHusky...what say you? Plausible??

Neuheisel isn't a name. And he's a bum. I guess Myer still has some cache. But it makes no sense.

Kicking the can down the road three years does what? Creates a HC opening for Jerry Neuheisel?

I just gave Idaho a call. They had to put me on hold because a call came in from Dennis Erickson. Then I called Anne McCoy. She couldn't talk because she was waiting for a call from Dennis Erickson.

Oh I am sure Dennis would love to coach again

WSU is a three year job.. so you hire Montana States coach and he sniffs success. Your roster and coaches and coach get swept away

Meyer does for WSU what Deon did for CU

Your brain is stuck in 1983.

We’re going to have to build the program as being a stepping stone.
