SDSU leading the charge to get the 8 best teams into the Pac

Agree with them...if we can get schools quickly, we likley can retain p5 status.

Media deal would suck, but we have the Pac-12 networks which could produce the content.

The PAC only needs, wants the Top 7 MWC, SDSU, BSU, UNLV, Utah St, Fresno St, CSU, and 1 more.

8 is too much because 8 doesn't allow the PAC to Also get ALL of Memphis, SMU, USF, Rice, Appalachian St, Gonzaga, NDSU.

If the PAC does get the top 8 MWC, then the PAC needs to Memphis, SMU, USF, Tulane, Rice, Appalachian St, Gonzaga, to get to PAC 18, that would get 16 to 26 mil per team, and 1,2 CFP, 1,2 NY6, P5 STATUS. NDSU doesnt make the cut if Top 8 MWC, instead of Top 7 MWC.

I think you go with the AAC and MWC best programs.

We just need to move quick...

I could be wrong, but isn't Memphis, USF, Appalachian St, not in AAC

Memphis, USF, Appalachian St, are ABSOLUTE MONSTER FBS MIDMAJOR FOOTBALL OR BBALL programs.

Memphis, SMU, USF, SDSU, Appalachian St, Tulane, are the BEST BLOODY DAM FBS MIDMAJOR FOOTBALL PROGRAMS ON THE PLANET

So you don't just grab ONLY MWC/AAC, and pass on Memphis, USF, Appalachian St, not if the PAC wants at least a 15 to 25 mil per team media deal and wants to stay P5 for 4 to 7 to 10 to 13 more years, and wants 1,2 CFP spots, and 1,2 NY6 spots, and not if they want to pick up ACC LEFTOVERS.

There is a phrase in the NFL draft BEST Player AVAILABLE.

The PAC needs to follow that strategy of getting the BEST TEAMS AVAILABLE NO MATTER WHICH CONFERENCES THEY ARE IN, NO MATTER HOW BAD THEIR ACADEMICS ARE, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION IS.

AND THE PAC CAN STILL DO THAT FAST, DOING THAT.

That said, I don't think the PAC 4 leadership is smart enough to do that.

Maybe SDSU leaders are smart enough. And Stanford might go independent, if the money isn't good enough for them.

If the PAC is the PAC 18 composed of, Stanford, Cal, WSU, Ore St, Memphis, SDSU, SMU, USF, Tulane, Rice, BSU, Fresno St, UNLV, Gonzaga, Utah St, CSU, Appalachian St, NDSU, the 16 mil to 26 mil per team, and 1,2 CFP spots, 1,2 NY6 spots, and future ACC leftovers, and then a even bigger 26 to 28 to 30 mil per team media deal, is probably enough for Stanford.

But the PAC 4 is not smart enough to do that.

Problem is more you water down the conference the less your $ per team is. Gotta find a happy medium/right teams and numbers to make it work.

The latest rumor is that the ACC is now looking at Stanford, Cal and SMU. Seems like a bit of an odd add, but SMU has the cash to get out if they want.

Apparently the AAC buyout is $10M if you give 27 months notice, higher if you give less. Schools exiting previously have paid around $18M. If they joined the ACC, that buyout probably gets paid back inside 2 years.

Still don't really see the benefit to the ACC, sounds like they would not get to up their rate by adding teams. It just waters down what existing teams already get, and with FSU, Clemson, and Miami already agitating for more...this just makes things worse.

Maybe the ACC authorities recognize that it probably doesn't matter what they do, they're going to lose those 3 eventually anyway. If they get Stanford, Cal, and SMU now, they're in position to expand more into the west once the inevitable occurs.

That's true if the teams are crap teams, programs.

Stanford, Cal, WSU, Ore St, SDSU, SMU, Memphis, USF, Tulane, Rice, BSU, Gonzaga, Fresno St, Utah St, Appalachian St, CSU is COMPARABLE, Almost semi equivalent to ACC, and could give the ACC, a run for its money as a P5 conference wise, because the ACC is TOP heavy, and the rest is not that good, wherein Stanford, Cal, WSU, Ore St, SDSU, SMU, Memphis, USF, Tulane, Rice, BSU, Gonzaga, Fresno St, Utah St, Appalachian St, CSU is PRETTY BLOODY DAMN EFFIN GOOD, INDIVIDUALLY, AND AS A CONFERENCE, and is worth at least 14 mil to 23 mil per team at ultimate extreme minimum, and is worth P5 STATUS, 1,2 CFP spots, 1,2 NY6 bowls, and 3.5 NCAA bball tourny bids.

Those BEST BLOODY DAMN EFFIN FBS MID MAJOR TEAMS ON PLANET THAT NOT IN P5 YET, is what will increase the media deal, prestige, stability, etc.

That's why the Big 12 got a bigger, better deal for adding Houston, UCF, BYU, etc, to 12 to 14 teams.

And getting these Best of the Best available programs, makes it so that can get ACC, Big 12 LEFTOVERS, and as a place for any who can't stand the Big 10, SEC, etc, anymore. And doing that, getting those leftovers, returnees, would increase the media deal to 28 to 30 to 32 mil per team.

But it's kind of a moot point, as PAC 4 leaders not smart enough to do these, those things.

The ACC adding two schools that would get run over in that conference, with the travel etc., makes ZERO sense for all parties involved.

Stanford if they don't like the Pac-12 reboot, should drop its affiliation immediately.

Power conferences need doormats too
