Cougs took on No. 6 UW Thur. night in Pullman. Battled hard, but lost in 5 sets: 22-25, 25-15, 25-11, 20-25, 15-4. Fifth sets are 15 pts.

Too many unforced errors to overcome a UW team that rarely made mistakes. Mims and Woodford looked really good at times. The freshmen class in general look the part.

One of the great rule changes "in any sport" of all time.
When volleyball went away from side out scoring and adopted ping pong scoring. Dang those matches used to last 5 hours.

The best indicator from this match is how the team bounced back from getting spanked in sets 2 and 3 to force a fifth. Still missed a shot at an upset, but an encouraging sign nonetheless.

Hopefully the students show up Saturday and they are able to follow up this loss with a win against Utah.

I think they will show… It was so loud in there, it was truly fun to be in that place. When it's fun, it's fun to return. When it's boring, why return?

Looked like a lot of fun and seemed to sound like the Frederick days. Also liked seeing a lot of coaches and athletes from other sports attend as well. Think and hope you are correct.

There were several football players there, supporting, that just didn't make the screen, as well. There were several women's basketball players also but the Men's Basketball made a very concerted effort, as a team, to come out and support. Had a section that was deliberately sectioned off for them next to the band (that didn't just happen on accident so they organized it). Agreed, THAT was very cool. I think as long as the students feel like the team has a shot at winning, they will come. If we start getting blown out by anyone/everyone… that's what takes a toll. A small venue like that, which gets crazy loud, is just fun to be in. Bohler is a cool, cool place.

That all sounds beautiful. Hopefully, the volleyball team turnaround will happen this season. It really is great how many of the programs really are supporting each other instead of just giving lip service.

Last year our volleyball team started out looking pretty good in the OOC games then fell flat in conference play. This had me a bit worried but no longer. The uw had not lost a single set during OOC contests. They had outscored their opponents by a factor of 2 to 1. They gave up two sets to our ladies, their first lost sets of the year. Still some anxiety about the season's outcome but it looks like we will be competitive in conference play this year.

Odd game really. The Cougs were in it and won sets 1 and 4. The other three sets we got out butts kicked. Not even close to contending for a win. If they play like they did in the two winning sets then we are fine. If like the other three sets then....... Still a respectable outcome to push one of the highest ranked teams in the nation to a fifth set.
