9/11 Survivor Story

Riveting story. Very sad. Although it begs the question - this 23-year-old tragic story has exactly what to do with 2024 and the Presidential election? This board (sorry Rich) is not the History Channel. It has been hijacked to be about the 2024 Presidential election. Doesn't redstate.com or the Federalist have a message board that you can hang out on with others of your ilk?
loyal, who started the political threads you’re crying about now?

I was one of the first to acknowledge Kamala won the debate.

Why so angry?

A VERY Powerful Testimony

Sure, fix things in every country on the earth by dumping our money into them. By giving away money we don't have and will just drive inflation up further for those of us left here in the United States.

But let's say we want to fix the problem in say.....Venezuela. Which method do you prefer-sending boatloads of money and supplies to the country that will get purloined by those elites in charge of the country, or should we invade the country, take it over and then throw all of the corrupt officials in prison? I'm sure those methods will work well and cost only small amounts of money and/or lives.

Of course, we COULD go ahead and do something on our end, and that is to spend a few billion dollars on finishing the wall to reduce the flow of illegal aliens to a trickle. Of course, the liberals will immediately blurt out that "Walls do not work", which is really rich just a month after holding their national convention in a facility guarded by two and three wall barriers. LOL, oh, the hypocrisy!
You realize of course that the vast majority of border crossings (legal and illegal) occur at US Ports of Entry. Is it a f-ed up mess? Yes. Would more walls in certain locations be a good thing? Sure.

This comprehensive article is pretty good informative. And while it doesn't set out to do so, it completely dismisses you BFF Trump's claims of 20 million immigrants illegally crossing our border under Biden. When you get done reading redstate.com and The Federalist, perhaps you should give it a look-see. BTW, the Annenberg Public Policy Center is non-partisan.

9/11 Survivor Story

A very riveting story from a very lucky World Trade Center occupant.

Memories from a very horrible day. I imagine all of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we first heard about an airplane hitting the WTC Tower.

I am not reasonable? What, for pointing out that there are conflicting information/reports out there and saying we need more information/confirmation on the issue? For not immediately swallowing what a city employee puts out there? I am not buying into one side or the other, just waiting until everything comes out.

Was I also not being reasonable for not immediately swallowing the report that Jussie Smullet was attacked on a freezing night in deep blue Chicago, by a guy wearing a MAGA hat? And how did that turn out?

Was I also not being reasonable for not immediately swallowing the claim that the "NASCAR Noose" was a terrible racist threat? How did that turn out?

Was I also not being reasonable for not immediately swallowing the claim of "Hands up, don't shoot"? How did that one turn out?

Was I also not being reasonable for not immediately swallowing the claim of Russia, Russia, Russia? How did that one turn out?

Was I also not being reasonable for not immediately swallowing the claim that Hunter Biden's laptop was not real, but Russian disinformation? How did that one turn out?

If not being one that immediately swallows the Blue KoolAid that the MSM puts out there makes me an unreasonable guy, then I will gladly accept the mantle of "Unreasonable". Thank you very much.

Regarding abortion, why do you think it is that Democrats all refuse to put ANY limits on that procedure? I'll tell you-it is because they don't want someone to get into trouble for getting or doing an abortion late in the term, even allowing the child to die after either a birth or having the abortion procedure fail and the child actually comes out living. See the former governor of Virginia, for instance. If you won't come out and condemn a procedure like abortion, then that means you are for it, you wish to allow it to happen. Not defining a limit means you are in favor of abortions at any time in the pregnancy.

EDIT- Crap, I forgot to add the call to dispatch report about the Haitians carrying geese. So how informed is the city official? I don't know, but possibly he doesn't have all the information available about the issue. It IS possible, you know.

I notice that your link to the Federalist (article, call to police or police report) does not mention cats or dogs. That is what we are talking about here. The written police report refers to "Larceny". Stealing geese from a park is larceny? In my community, I wish someone would come and grab some of the many geese (invasive Canadian Geese) that are turning my local park into a poop-fest. And the reporting guy was close enough to identify them as Haitians because of the language they were speaking, but not close enough to grab license plate pictures. OK.

As far as all your examples go, I have no idea what you are referring to. Apparently, I need to spend more time on your favorite right-wing sites. Like the Federalist. I went over and perused that site. Every single article is an attack on all things Democrat.

I did look up Jessie Smullett. Sorta vaguely remember that case - from 2019 - where he staged a hate crime. OK, so how exactly is that odd case relevant to the 2024 Presidential election?

I also looked up the NASCAR Noose thing from 2020. I now remember that too. A much ado about what turned out to be nothing after the (corrupt?) FBI investigated. Although it is odd that, per NASCAR (link below):
"So across those 29 tracks, and 1,684 garage stalls, we found only 11 total that had a pull-down rope tied into a knot.
"And only one noose — the one discovered Sunday in Bubba Wallace’s garage."

Reason to get excited I guess if I was the only Black NASCAR driver. Again, that has exactly what bearing on the 2024 Presidential race?

So yeah Dude, WTF is wrong with you?

A VERY Powerful Testimony

This will be a controversial idea, but...

The single largest reason people come across the border into the US (especially the southern border) is that their country sucks. They're poor, it's crime ridden, the government and police are corrupt, etc. They come here because it's supposed to be better. They get a work visa, enter, and don't want to go back. Or, they don't get a visa and just cross the border, because even if they live with the threat of deportation, it's better than going back.

So, we spend a pile of money to build walls and fences, to hire border guards, to bust coyotes, we make rules to make it harder for employers to hire migrants under the table. We fight the problem at its end - not at its source. As long as conditions suck in the origin countries, the people are going to keep coming, and we're going to keep pouring resources into fighting a battle we can't win.

I'm not really sure exactly what this looks like, but it would be more effective if we worked on improving things in those countries. Make it so those people will stay in their country instead of coming here.

The US has been pretty shitty at picking its friends in south and central america historically, and the current conditions can often be traced back to our prior influence. So, fix it. Make better choices. Control the corruption (with either money or military). It won't be cheap, but it should at least have an effect. Trying to block them at the border or round them up and deport them will never work.
Bingo....Build a chips plant in Honduras and take away from China ...

Oh Stretch. I thought you were reasonable. No the falsity of the pet eating thing is not TBD. It is complete and utter BS. Read the article below from the Columbus (Ohio) newspaper. The part about how the cat-eating woman is in Canton and she is apparently not Haitian. The guy carrying the dead(?) goose picture was taken in Columbus. And while not mentioned in the article, the "citizen" (not citizens) whose "report" started this whole thing, was quoting what her "neighbor's daughter's friend" allegedly said. No police reports, no evidence, nothing. If someone had your cat hanging from a tree wouldn't you call 911 immediately?

I mean really. WTF is wrong with you? See the "executing babies" link below as well. So I ask again, WTF is wrong with you?

Not exactly executing babies either. Google it and you can find numerous similar articles:
"in rare circumstances when a newborn has a condition “that will lead to their death in the very near term and there is nothing that could be done to save the baby’s life … parents can decline attempted resuscitation and other heroic measures. …"

JD Vance seems to redirect the tangent back to the main point doesn’t he?

Let’s try this another way shall we?

What benefit is there to a Midwestern town of 58,000 to have 20,000 Haitian immigrants dumped on them unexpectedly?
IF what you say above is even true, that's a WHOLE different topic and worthy of discussion as to the immigration problem.

This could easily have been brought up rather than resorting to apparently ridiculous and racially provocative imagery intended to paint a whole group of people as scary "others" to be watched out for.

But your depraved party doesn't operate like that. Taihtsat

You’re free to ignore the people who live there, on video, testifying at their city council meeting. Or, you can tell them they’re full of it.

I’m not in Ohio. Poor/Mediocre to average readers will note I never made that claim.

For a creepy cartoon clown, you seem upset.
You link a lot of bullshit. You should be able to find a link to these council meetings and these other videos...for starters. Then we can go from there. Taihtsat

Problem is that it's unlikely that a president could just close the border by executive order. Statute allows that he can close "any" port of entry "temporarily." It's not at all clear that he can close all of them, and he certainly can't do it indefinitely. It's also necessary to point to a specific threat to justify closure. So the idea that they could roll Joe out of bed at 4PM and get him to sign a "bill" most likely exceeds the authority granted by statute. It would also be unconstitutional with respect to any citizens or permanent residents trying to return.
Trump did.

Remember Joe’s “First Day”?

Wipe your chin.

The Haitians weren't dumped there. They came on their own seeking existing employment.

OT - new NIL lawsuit

You have got to be kidding me. A QB who last played in 2010, and a WR who played in 2004, wanting in on the NIL settlement cash. Which is ridiculous in the first place.

Since the court ruling came well after their careers were over, I don't think they've got much of a claim. There's one thing that gives it some credence: if the school and the networks are still showing replays of their highlights now (and any time they've showed those since the decision), they might be due a little bit of compensation from that. But they'll have to get a court to say the initial 4-year statute of limitations doesn't apply.

In the meantime, it's simple - every network has to stop showing replays of anything that happened before 2020.
