WSU and Kansas State seem to have a lot in common

Pretty encouraging that the Wildcats played in the Sugar Bowl in January and will play in the Sweet 16 this week.

Two well-respected land grant universities located well off the beaten path geographically-speaking, but each has seen more than its share of success.

For Flat (and any others here), are WSU and K-State as similar as they seem at first glance? What led to the 'Cats runaway success in football and men's basketball and what's the best way to replicate it in Pullman?

gu vs ucla

This is a tough one.

I went to A LOT of gu games in the 70s and 80s and was a big fan when they first started their tournie run until about 2010. I grew tired of their arrogance when they were overrated and once they cancelled with WSU they pretty much dropped down to neutral at best when it comes to the tournie.

UCLA has been the pride of the PAC in hoops for decades. But the fact they are ditching for the BiG makes rooting for them in the tournie feel dirty. I am however, a big fan of Jaime J and to a lesser degree Tyger C for sticking around for a full college career. The PAC could use the money if they make a run so there’s that to consider as well.

With that being said, I’m rooting for San Diego State.

Fun new off topic - Ore-Ida

Sounds like a bag of potatoes, eh?

I assume some of you have been following this thing. I've only been to Eastern Oregon a few times (Wallowa Lake, Milton-Freewater). But there must be some serious rednecks in that 2/3 of the state. I mean really. I guess Eastern Washington is next.

Drunk in an airport MWC opinion

Opinions on if thing went “worst case” and we were relegated to MWC w/ OSU. Travel destinations of Oahu, San Jose, SDSU (assuming they don’t joint Pac), Boise, Logan (basically Salt Lake), Tahoe, Vegas. This is probably a .1% chance that things devolve drastically and we end up that SOL. But in my opinion, I would actually enjoy that travel schedule. What’s your opinion on the very small chance we end up in that position? As an adult those destination seems pretty pleasing.

Kyle Smith

There things that happen during a game that I cringe. Then I watch them get better over the season. But if I were to ask you who were the five best players last year you would probably say Efe, Flowers, Jackson (when healthy), Roberts, MG, the JaKI.

Yes I get it we are .500, and the portal changes the dynamics of recruiting. But smith like no other coach here ever has taken a roster, transformed it over night and probably six plays for being an NCAA team.

We glorify Tony, yet he is the only coach ever to lose to a 16 seed. Then loses to Furman today. He weas 8-10 his last season in Pullman. Kyles Smith was just 11-7 in conference play.

Kyle has done a good job of recruiting talent. He just neeeds to get a PG who makes the right decisions down the stretch.
