Brett Bartolone

A post on brand X reported that Bartolone is done with football, at least as far as playing goes. It's on the internet so it must be true, right? That shoulder injury of his never seemingly healed fully. Now, according to the report, he is a WR manager- whatever that is. Too bad; I liked the kid. Gave a good effort and some good results during some dark times. I assume and hope that he now has a medical scholarship. He deserves it.

WSU Gray Helemts

I like the uniforms we have except the gray helemts. I really liked the all white look we had last year, but the gray helmets I feel need some adjustments. They just seem so basic so I decided to make some slight adjustments.

First here is the gray helmet.

It's not bad. Just well...kind of plain. It has a sort of practice helmet with a WSU sticker slapped on it kind of feel. Honestly I miss the silver helmets, but silver isn't our school color, and I don't miss Cougar script. I much prefer our logo. So here's a few adjustments.

This first one I wanted some texture to the gray but still to be gray so I wanted to make it look like marble. There have been a lot of marble quarries in Washington and I like the idea of a stone textured helmet. I also don't like the dark WSU Cougar logo. So I brightened that up.

Not a dramatic change, but enough to make it look less plain.

Then I wanted to do a darker gray. So I made this one.

I don't like it as much... I think the emblem is too dark. but I feel like the gray helmet could be improved on with just a few small adjustments.

Leach on ESPN's Ryen Russillo Show

Not sure if anyone else heard this, but I think it speaks volumes about the mind-set of the players on the roster when Leach entered Pullman. Leach was interviewed last week when the Pac12 coaches were making their rounds at ESPN.

Leach said something I don't think I ever heard him say before about the state of the program.

He said something like:

One of the biggest issues early on at WSU was that he felt he had guys on the roster that were more excited to dress and travel than to actually enter the game and play. He said he had never experienced that before in coaching. It meant more to some of them to be on the sidelines in uniform to be viewed rather than actually in the game competing.

BX reporting new JC walk on kicker

Blake Levin out of Santa Barbara City College

Here's his tape

hit 9 out of 10 was perfect from 45 or less.

That makes a total of 6 kickers heading into fall camp.

We definitely will have somebody... punting will have to be determined as well, but having that many kickers makes me feel comfortable we will have somebody that can place kick.

Kickoffs should be easy. Whoever can blast it the farthest gets that gig.

So just Punting is what will be unknown.

The trouble with the internet and rankings......

I was strolling through the internet and found CFN's list of Top 20 wide receivers.

Cougs getting some love

Dom Williams is listed 15th and Cracraft is 18th. Clemson is the only other team with two guys listed. That list doesn't include Marks, who was arguably our best receiver before he missed a year because of injuries. You look at ESPN's rating of Pac-12 units and they say we have the 7th best group of wide receivers in our conference....let alone country.

It's amazing how subjective so much of this stuff is.
