The Pac-12 announced the all-conference teams tonight and senior receiver Vince Mayle was the only player named to the first or second team, earning Pac-12 second team honors as a receiver. USC's Nelson Agholor and ASU's Jaelen Strong were named first team receivers.

Washington State had four players named Pac-12 honorable mention: linebacker Jeremiah Allison, cornerback Daquawn Brown, quarterback Connor Halliday and offensive lineman Joe Dahl.

Washington State running back coach Jim Mastro was in Atlanta today checking out Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County running back Sihiem King, who will take an official visit to Washington State in January, I'm told.

King, at 5-foot-8, 175-pounds, is rated three-stars by Rivals and also holds offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and several others, in addition to Washington State. King also has a visit set up to West Virginia on January 16. He'll likely be in Pullman the week after.

The Cougars are recruiting King as a running back, which makes sense considering three-star running back commit James Williams' knee will take some time to recover. The Cougars were previously only going to take one running back in this class, but that has obviously changed.

Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe offensive tackle Davis Perrott visited Washington State for the Apple Cup. He has one more visit before making a decision next week and the Cougars are currently in his top two.

Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson defensive tackle Tim Settle confirmed on Twitter that he'll officially visit Washington State this weekend. Settle officially visited USC last weekend and is also considering Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.

it may just be our passing game that gave their DB's so much trouble. Sonny Dykes fired his first defensive coordinator and based on results should can his second.

Between Cal and WSU I have never seen so many receivers run free in my life. I understand getting physically beat every once in awhile, but how many uncontested TD's did I see between the two teams.

Is it a coincidence these teams struggle so much defensively? Chip Kelly is an offensive guru, a pioneer and yet his defenses were respectable.

So far neither have had a respectable defense. Both have fired their DC's. Could it be that a DC with other offers would shy away from these two jobs?

While not a huge Curtis Conway fan from the Pac 12 network, he often says he doesn't know how it will work without a functioning running game. Maybe a DC really doesn't want to be put in the position where the QB of his team is chucking it 65 yards a game, and then is middle of the pack in scoring offense. I wonder if it may come down to a philosophy problem.

Who cares about the current Cougs. Let's focus on Baynes and the SA Spurs.

That's almost a double-double both games. Both wins.

Baynes is playing a lot because of Tiago Splitter injury combined with the Spurs' desire to rest 38 year old Tim Duncan. The Big Banger is making the most of his opportunities.

Said it was a direct result of Breske getting canned. According to his dad we're still in the running but everything will hinge on who we hire as the new DC.
He's visiting the ewe and donkey state this week/next week.

What an awful weekend. Brutally cold weather, a stadium that wasn't properly prepped before kickoff, and a dismal performance by our football team. For those of us who made the trek from Western WA, the 2-hour traffic delay on Snoqualmie pass was icing on the cake. It took us over 7 hours to get home.

I'm still on Leach's bandwagon. I think we're going to improve over the next couple of seasons. Regardless of all that, and despite what any of us think of the state of the program, Leach is on the clock next season. In year 4, you have to show improvement; particularly when you make 3 changes within your coaching ranks. I'm all for the coaching shakeup, as our defense was as bad as I've seen in Pullman. Thing is, if we stumble to another 3-9 record next year, all eyes will be on Leach.

Kalani Sitake. He is currently the DC at Utah. He is out of contract and is reportedly not happy with the administration at Utah.

Four-star cornerback Taeon Mason tells me he remains committed to USC following his official visit to Wazzu... However, he did say the Cougars have recruited him just as hard as the Trojans and if there is movement in the class, I'd expect Washington State to have a great shot at landing him...

Cody Clements, a former Coug was their starting QB this year. If he wants to play another season he'll be at his 4th school in 4 years.

It would make some sense. He wanted to work for Leach. Then left to be DC at UTEP. He's at UW now.

He could coach LBs and be the DC.

Then hire a solid secondary coach. Or, split the safeties and the dbs up.

Graham Harrell to coach DB's? I think that guy to do magic on the recruiting trail.

I just assumed that Oregon got the most Nike bucks of all Pac-12 schools. Nope. The fuskies. I understand that W. Washington has more people that W. Oregon and are a bigger tv market, Oregon is on a national stage yearly.

Cougs Get $1.65 Mil A Year

According to his head coach, Steilacoom (Wash.) linebacker Fotu Leiato picked up an offer from Washington State tonight following an unofficial visit for the Apple Cup this weekend. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound linebacker also holds offers from Eastern Washington and Wyoming. We hope to have more from Leiato as soon as we can.

Washington State offered Steilacoom (Wash.) linebacker Fotu Leiato last night following his unofficial visit for the Apple Cup. I spoke with his coach today and will have a story this week, but here's a few notes on Leiato's interest and recruitment.

-His coach at Steilacoom, Williams Garrow, described Leiato as a "violent, physical and aggressive" defender.

"We had to stop doing special teams in full pads during high school practices because he kept injuring his teammates," Garrow said. "He really only has one speed, and that's all-out."


-Washington State envisions Leiato as an immediate contributor on special teams, though in Garrow's conversations with coaches, there's still a question as to what position he'll play, and it'll depend on what system he plays in. Outside linebacker or strong safety seem like the most logical spots, but the WSU coaches think his 200-pound frame can fill out to about 215-230, so linebacker may be the best bet.

-Garrow says Fotu is "very excited" about the Washington State offer and it gives him a lot of things to think about. In total, he holds offers from WSU, Wyoming, Idaho, EWU, Montana, Weber State and Montana State. He'll visit Wyoming on Dec. 12 and will likely take an official visit to Pullman. Oregon State has picked up interest and visited him at school today.

-Coach Mele and Coach Salave'a are recruiting him, with Mele the primary recruiter.

-As for his official visit, Fotu really enjoyed it and spent a lot of time with the coaching staff on Sunday morning.

"He really enjoyed himself and was very impressed," Garrow said. "He talked about the barbershop, weight room, heck he even talked about the media room, so I know that was very cool for him."

Thomas Toki says the coaching changes will not change his mind and his official visit over the weekend pretty much sealed the deal. The four-star also had a family member visiting with him this weekend, who he says could very well become a Coug, too.

Riverside (Calif.) C.C. linebacker Jonah Moi will take an official visit to Washington State this weekend, he informs WazzuWatch.com. The Hawaii commit is rated three-stars by Rivals and had an in-home visit with Coach Salave'a and Coach Wilson tonight.

Riverside (Calif.) C.C. receiver informed Chris Swanson of TrojanSports.com that Washington State, USC and West Virginia are his top three schools and a decision will be made soon. The three-star receiver will take an official visit to Washington State this weekend, he confirmed to WazzuWatch.com this evening.

Whitney won't be the only Riverside prospect in town this weekend as linebacker Jeremiah Mitchell.

This week is a prime time to break their losing streak.
