David Shaw is cleaning house at Stanford

How do you share blame when the offense has 6 turnovers and special teams gives up 2 touchdowns??? Not to say the defense played great, they didnt. Remove 6 turn overs and 2 returns for touchdowns and the defense played well enough to win. It wasnt their fault they lost to UCLA.

Maybe I should clarify my statement of poor special teams. When I write special teams sucks, I am not pointing the finger at the field goal kicker. Nor Harris.

I am pointing the finger at kick and punt teams either not covering for shit, failing to kick the ball deep enough or out of bounds or the coaching decisions made to not kick the ball out of bounds or into the end zone.

Haven't we covered this? Oregon would have taken the ball at the 35 if we kicked it out of bounds. Your arguing about 5 yards.

But, by all means, if there's a guy out there that could coach a flawless, mistake free special teams unit for an entire season, we should absolutely hire him.

Urban Meyer fires assistant coaches on the spot. Unless he decides to cover up their misdeeds.

Im arguing about kicking the ball into the endzone for a touchback. Which puts them at the 25. If you wanna see stats, look at the scoring % on starting position. If you have a defense that is struggling, you HAVE to give them every advantage. 5 yards, 10 yards, 15 yards all MATTER! To dismiss it like they dont is stupid.

Agree. Some mistakes dont hurt you. Some cost you ball games. How many games are acceptable to lose because of poor special teams??? Leach fired a special teams coach at half time once for giving up 2 TDs in a game. Think he sides with me on this one. Not you.

And yet, no one has been fired.

You’re the same guy that ARGUED the Palouse Posse would start fights with this offense and Leach because the offense would leave them jammed up. That’s how you’ve overtaken Ed for the dunce cap. Forty points per game is not jamming anyone up.

I see the resident troll dg is still embarrassing himself. It’s to the point it’s hard to watch, really sad.

Let me know which college kickers can put it out of the back of the endzone at will.

I guess we'll find out after the bowl game considering the current ST coach is still employed.

The staff will be interesting to watch. AF will have a well coached, in shape, all day tough, ultimate effort team on the field. They will expose any program that doesnt have the same. WSU is gonna have to beat them on talent cause they sure as hell werent well coached this year.

WSU has one.

Ohhh. I guess that's why his touchback percentage is 59.5 instead of 100.

Biggs has secured the mythical, legendary Cougzone dunce cap championship. Reigning dunce cap champion CougEd was even taken aback by Bianca Biggs' championship efforts this season.

You really need some new cliches.

Says the legendary resident troll. You seriously can’t help but embarrass yourself over and over again. Get help little one.

Appears to be confirmation that this is Sponge's burner account.

Coming from Dunce cap this, unicorn and participation ribbons that...this is rich. And getting a cap from you is a badge of honor...clearly not all of us can be as smart as you. This coming from a guy who has limited playing experience compared to others....

They do not, otherwise his touchback percentage would be 100%.

There's not a kicker in the country that has a touchback percentage of 100%. Even in the NFL, the league leader is under 90%.

Doesnt have to be 100%. It just has to be in the endzone when it’s needed.

Again. You are wrong on the internet.

You mean, when in retrospect, you think the kicker should have put it in the endzone, then Leach agrees with you about something...? Maybe?

Lil one, you continuing to prove you have less than zero football knowledge only confirms what everyone already knew. This is truly pathetic lil one.

Do you need Yaki's number so you can pretend to be clever? Call him, I know he can come up with a funny nickname for Biggs...Mick Jaeggar's ex's first name just doesn't do it....

Bianca seems fitting.

So, what's your argument here?

Do you think the ST coach told him to kick it to the 3? Or, do you think he just didn't get a hold of one?

If it's the former, then yea, that's really stupid and the ST coach needs to answer for that. If it's the latter, then that's on the kid, although every kicker in the world kicks one to the 3 at times. Can't blame the ST coach for that.

Aside from Bigg's argument, how well do you believe the ST's were coached?

Because there is a B and an I in there names? Even you can't be that simple.

Ed, Ed, Ed. Besides the B and the I, Bianca in Taming of the Shrew show up when it really matters. Kind of like our Bianca Biggs. Doesn't attend games, doesn't donate, doesn't do anything but bitch and moan.

Oh, look. CougEd attempts to move the goal posts. While conveniently ignoring things like stats that show STs were pretty good. As in upper third of CFP eligible teams. Also ignoring things like the WSU having the Pac-12 1st team kicker and a Pac-12 2nd team all purpose special teams player in Brown. That's ignoring Harris finishing 30th in the NCAA as a kick return man and Draguicevich averaging 45 yard per punt which was good for second in the Pac-12.

I'm pretty sure that Drago doesn't appear on any NCAA stat lists because he's below the minimum number of punts. 45 yards per punt would put him tied for 16th in the NCAA. Must be because that darn offense is always leaving the defense and special teams jammed up....

That is a pretty simplistic answer. You can do better than that.

Well, I think it's far more nuanced, thoughtful and descriptive than anything you could do.

Tell me your thoughts about an onside kick that we weren't prepared for. Let's start there with "nuance". Then we can get into the punt where every ASU player turned their backs and our punter would still be running the ball today if he took off.

It is a mixed bag with the special teams coach, and I am not say to fire him, but I did see some things that could cost them a game.

I already posted a link showing the combined special teams units were ranked 32nd, so I think he did fine.

That said, that score is probably boosted by having a good kicker and punter, which Brock has nothing to do with really.

Look, if he leaves or is sacked, I'm not going to blow a gasket over it, especially since it would open up a spot that could be filled with a guy with some SoCal recruiting ties. I just object to the suggestion that the ST were awful and were responsible for 2 losses this year.

Dude, come on. The onside kick was a fluke play. First, it happened with 7:30 remaining in a 3 point game. Did you want Brock to have his hands team out there? Even then, it flukishly bounced off Justus Rogers and right back to the kicking team? What is a coach supposed to do about that?

Maybe Brock should have been taking Rogers out of drills and firing balls out of tee shirt cannon at him every practice to better prepare him for that.

This is the best you've got? A mixed bag? They were prepared for Oregon State. That's why they were all bunched and broke out when Oregon State broke out. The kick richocheted off at least one guy and OSU recovered. They got one. Give them credit. They were behind and needed to make a play and made one but still lost the game. It's not hard to spot lack of preparation versus lack of execution. You should try it some time. WSU popped a big kick return versus Stanford. Does that mean Stanford wasn't prepared? Obviously, with the kind of 20/20 hindsight you expect coaches to have Stanford's ST coach should have had it kicked out of bounds.

At the end of the season you can always claim there was a mixed bag. Apparently the best thing you can come up with is that they didn't run a fake against ASU. That's pretty weak given the clear and obvious other success. And remember that WSU had scored the go ahead FG with 2:30 left (whatever you do, don't credit WSU for making a key special teams play there). Who knows why that didn't happen. Maybe Leach didn't want to do it. Maybe Drago had a bad wheel. Maybe the coaches saw something you didn't see. Maybe it was the first time ASU had shown they could get burned on a fake punt. Maybe the coaches felt like ASU's return man had butter fingers and the odds were better he would muff one. Maybe they thought pinning them deep was a better choice.

Lets start with the OSU game. Which dlineman did it hit? Kwete? Are you really making the argument they had the HANDS team up on that?
