Is Rolovich finally in our rear view mirror forever

If you ask Google where they are, you'll find that the companies that operated this kind of tanker all went belly up, and the tankers have been sold to airlines for conversion into cargo aircraft.

You might also find that air operations start getting dicey as winds go above 30-40 MPH. Windy conditions create turbulence near the ground that make it increasingly unsafe to operate at low altitudes. The higher they drop from, the less accurate the drop, and the more it dissipates. Increasing winds exacerbate this - the 50-80 MPH winds they've seen in these fires mean they would have to drop from higher altitude, which means the wind carries it even more/farther, and makes them less effective.

As for the reservoirs - apparently this passed in 2014. For most of the period between then and now, the big news out of California has been continuing drought and declining reservoir/lake levels. I don't see a lot of point in rushing to build reservoirs when the ones you have are drying out. In the last 12-18 months, the drought has eased in northern California, but most of the south - including the entire LA area - remains in moderate to severe drought. Which is a big part of why it burns so easily.

As for "cleaning the forest floor" I don't know if you've been in SoCal much, but there's not much forest there. That's not really something that's relevant to the current situation.
If there’s any opportunity to suck trumps cock and blame “leftist government” for anything in the news cycle some posters just can’t help themselves.

That said I have work colleagues who’ve evacuated their homes and aren’t sure if they’ll be standing by the end of the week, so leaf raking and fire hydrants aside, praying for the folks who are dealing with this mess…very unfortunate and scary situation.

I was skeptical from the beginning.

2.7-3.4 Million dead in 30-60 days, mainly the young and healthy they said. Remember?

I do.

Then came 30 days.

Then came 60 days.

Coming back to you yet?
So...you're basing your end of pandemic evaluation on initial projections that were continually re-forcaated as new information came in?

Boy, you sure are good at talking out of both sides of your mouth, but thats nothing new. Fact of the matter is, WSU and many other state institutions went above and beyond in their overeach to require a bogus Vax. And now that "data" shows it was bogus, none of these institutions will be held accountable, a sickening reality. I pray that when the next round of overreach comes, more will stand for freedom and reject draconian measures of Inslee and Co. from the last round.
Just to be clear...when you say "bogus vax" what exactly does that mean to you?

That it didn't work at all?

That it didn't work as well as (originally) hoped?

Update on the fire hydrants with no water. The storage tank(s) ran dry. The main power to the pump stations that refill the big reservoir is off due to fire damage. And the backup generator building was burned; total loss. Per my guy on the scene. It has nothing to do with Newsom, dams, or the state in any way. You could probably point a finger at the suburban water district for not sufficiently fireproofing the generator building...and that is something to be considered by other water districts, as well as when this one is rebuilt...but my somewhat informed guess is that no one planned on 100 mph gusts pushing the fire. It is possible that brush clearance was not adequate, but since I have not seen the building myself, I can't say for certain. And even with good brush clearance, enough wind can defeat a lot of clearance.
Fire resistance and safe space are things to be looked at, but if the storage is dry, the pump stations are irrelevant.

Reality is that there’s only so much man can do. You can prepare for what’s likely, but if nature doesn’t cooperate all your preparation is for naught. When fire is pushed by winds of 80 MPH, you’re not going to stop it. Same idea with earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes. You can build to resist 6.5, or 150 MPH winds. But if you get a 7.5 or winds of 180+….forget it.

There's a long X thread on the "I told you so" to California "progressives" who mocked T in 2018. Happy to provide the link. It's tremendous and embarrassing for the utopia-creator types. 😆

Again, I'm not saying that the government didn't fubar the response....but COVID absolutely did kill people whose only crime was being old or infirm. This gal I mentioned above worked at the hospital with my wife and her dad never went anywhere because he knew that he was high risk....but she got sick and gave it to him anyway.

So....a government mandate to limit the spread of COVID from one person to another is an entirely different topic than how to handle heart attacks, cancer or driving in snowstorms. I personally think that states like Washington lost their frickin' minds and went too far. The extra pandemic paychecks were stupid and the whole paycheck reimbursement program was a huge scam for businesses and there are a lot of folks who should be in jail over that one. The government fubared it for sure....but the melodrama from the anti-vax crowd does go overboard at times.

FWIW, my daughter graduated high school at the height of COVID and just graduated Magna Cum Laude with her ChemE degree from the Colorado School of Mines and has her full time job lined up, a guy that she is probably going to marry and only $15k in school loans thanks to scholarships and the bank of Mom and Dad. Not all kids were sacrificed.....
I don’t think the older kids are where the big impact is. My wife works in early elementary and that generation is in trouble. Huge spike in kids not knowing basics. Letters, numbers etc. Some kids are fine because their parents made sure they knew things but without pre-K, K and early grades operating we have a wave of low performers coming.

It is much more than that. California had been run by corrupt utopian-loving "progressives" for decades. They've ruined a once great state.

Yeah, the high school kids already had the basics down. They may not have learned trig and calculus, but they could already add.

I think the biggest problem is the kids who were roughly K thru 2 for the shutdowns. They’ll be in 4-6 now. They didn’t learn the fundamentals that everything else depends on - or didn’t learn them well. The problem is compounded and has an echo because if teachers are going to catch them up, they don’t teach the younger ones as well.

I learned about a lingering effect this year. My youngest is in 3rd grade, reading on a 5th grade level. Her school doesn’t allow her teacher to provide materials or instruction that are more than 2 levels ahead of grade, because it distracts from students who aren’t as far ahead. While I sort of understand the logic, I think it should be pretty easy to just let the kid go to the library and pick their own stuff. Instead, they’re slowing some kids down so that they don’t get too far ahead.

Let them run.

Epic <name withheld> rant from a hotel after the LA wildfires forced to evacuate from his home, where he predicts Hollywood leftists will be so frustrated by the rebuild effort that they will not vote Democrat:
"You guys all voted for Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles. You all voted for Gavin Newsom, and now you ****ing get what you get. now that your house is on fire.
So here's what's going to happen. All these people who are deep blue Democrats are now going to have to pull a permit to rebuild, and they're going to get the 28 year old bitch from the Coastal Commission telling them to go **** off and then they're going to vote for Trump or whoever's Trumpian next.
When they start getting the regulation, they're going to go nuts. And when they start running into the bureaucracy and the red tape, they're going to start going nuts and they're going to vote for Rick Caruso next time.
They're going to find out they're going to get bit by their own snake. They're going to convert. I am telling you, these are the bluest people on the planet and they're going to be ****ing rip shit pissed when the City and the Coastal Commission tell them to **** off.
We're going to have to restructure the whole thing because we can't have nine angry lesbians controlling everything that goes on in Malibu, the Palisades and Santa monica."

This is why Californians pay the highest taxes: So that their government can completely fail them in their time of need.

I see. It's all about GDP performance. Nice.
Hmmmm.... let me put on my feminine cap and see if I can connect the dots for you

Lower GDP means the economy is faltering, that people aren't buying goods and services. When people shelter in place whether on their own or mandated they are not spending money, and when that happens businesses go out of business, people lose jobs etc.

Our government, Donald Trump came out with PPP money to keep money through the system, people spent like no tomorrow, keeping our economy afloat.

I know of one industry that had their best three year run, profits at their highest level and got so much PPP money they are buying planes, 10 million dollar houses etc.

Then there was a client who had to always buy drinks for everyone after golf. 50k in credit card debt. Got 100k in PPP money , paid off his credit card and had 50k to put down on a new construction.

I know that is stimulus. That debt somehow goes in different bucket and somehow we don't need to pay it back .

You should forward the names of those recipients to your local US District attorney.

A Spokane dermatologist is currently under investigation for use of PPP funds to buy luxury automobiles and other items of that nature. It is an emphasis for the DOJ.

That would seem to be a reasonable solution to those who abused the system.

Wait, are you saying the three trials, same as they do for other drugs, did not have data for the spread of covid 19? I want to make sure I am reading this correct?
Your posts reflect what you say, and are memorialized on this website for all to see.

Stopping the spread was immaterial to the emergency use authorization. If you don't know what immaterial or other words mean use the internet to look up the definitions.

The studies you refer to showed (if they showed anything) that the the vaccines may have been helpful in stopping the spread of the variants that were circulating at the time the vaccine development began. The virus mutated before the vaccine was available. The vaccines did not stop the spread. Flu vaccines don't stop the spread of influenza. Even if the vaccines were capable of stopping the spread, because Covid is highly contagious and was mutating quickly, a months long vaccination drive wasn't going to stop the spread.

And if you've been paying attention, the vaccine did not stop the spread. Covid is endemic. But, by all means continue to believe the propaganda. I assume you're still watching Joe and Mika.

You serious... that is just a drop in the bucket.
I would be shocked if your clients didn't abuse the system and you arent aware tgey did . So much waste. It was the "smart" people who knew how to fill out paperwork that got the money ....

Well when the vaccine came out, it was covid 19. There was a window before it mutated. We as a country didn't get enough shots in the arms. Are you saying that is not the case. Once it mutated to delta the horse was out of the barn, about time they were dealing with Rolo.

Rolo couldn't do the job he was hired to do, and he was worried about Gates putting a chip in his body. As like, who is Rolo....
Yes there was a window before it mutated. How many shots would have been needed in what period of time to stop the disease? Please tell us that Ed. I'd love to read that post. Make sure to include how many vaccines were available on a rolling basis.

Your post again shows your total ignorance. Travel to European countries that implemented restrictions opened in June of 2021, if you had been vaccinated with the vaccine that was never meant to stop the spread. Many countries never implemented any restrictions at all. The "time we were dealing with Rolo" was months after June of 2021.

If you knew this when you sold your client more debt, doesn’t this directly implicate you in his debt fraud?

Yes - -absolutely. Why not? A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

Seems like a conflict of interest drinking your client's alcohol paid for by the taxpayers who went thirsty.

The irony is that Ed and Rolovich have something in common. Ed stood firm by his conviction to not take PPP money. Rolovich stood firm by his conviction to not take the vaccine.

Of course, Rolovich paid for it with his job. We get to pay for Ed's conviction by his whining clogging this message board.

I know, let's get rid of it....Sell it to Russia. I have always said, let the Republicans run the big cities and let the dems run the states. Mississippi, Alabama, WVa, S Carolina, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma (New Mexico...they are the outlier)...notice a pattern. The 9 poorest and most illiterate states in the country.

Nope...I have had two clients I have walked away from and said their interests would be better served elsewhere. One, a client who in three years managed to increase the value in her home by 350k. 2.5% money came around, and she wanted to refinance and take out 70k for a remodel. In the meantime her husband racked up 80k in debt going for a masters then jumped out of the workforce. She though Biden was going to dismiss the student loan debt, and I told her she needed to pay off the student loan. When she told me another company would close the loan without it being paid off, she jumped at that opportunity.

So I didn't drink their alcohol, besides at my old age I am spoiled, I only drink the good stuff like Monarch Vodka like I purchased during my dads on campus.

So when you say that there was no data because the emergency authorization didn't require it, not accurate, correct. They did have the data from the trial runs.

Second, not being vaccinated prevented Rolo from doing the job he was hired to do. He is back in coaching which good for him. Good for WSU not having to pay for his decision.

Read better. Or just keep making shit up. It's a free country. Your choice.

The Rolo, jab, stop the spread, minimize the health impact, etc., discussions are never going to get anywhere on this board. Not much point in discussing that topic. At this point virtually everyone on the board has made up their mind and new information, as well as denial of old information, will have no impact.

However, PPP was mentioned and I can actually comment on that with both first hand and reliable second hand information.

We participated fully in both rounds of PPP. We kept people working, some of whom would not otherwise have worked during the specified time period, and we followed all the rules. The debt was fully forgiven, as the program promised. The fact that we got more money than we needed to accomplish that purpose was something that many, many businesses in every state experienced...it was inherent in the legislation. I'd go so far as to say that if your work was in construction and/or many service industries you would be rare if that were not the case (I can't comment on other industries because it is outside my personal knowledge). Both of our business banks (we switched at some point during the PPP years because our business bank got bought by a larger bank, who was less competent) told us openly that their estimate was that 80-90% of the owners of their client businesses took the excess PPP money and gave it to themselves. I'm sure that money went to a variety of the business owner's purposes, from a new car to children's education to home remodeling, to anything else you can suggest. I know one guy who used some of his PPP money to pay for his wife's plastic surgery. These conversations with our two banks took place because we used the excess money to instead add equity to the company (we were somewhat undercapitalized, like most private businesses) and the bank reps were grateful that we'd done something that would make their credit officers happy.

The whole first round of PPP legislation was rushed due to the sense of urgency at the time. By the time the second round came around, some of the waste & abuse had been trimmed, and the program size had been limited, but it still had a great deal of pork. Both parties predominantly supported it, each for their own reasons. Was it needed? Just my humble opinion, but I think a case could be made for the first round, particularly if it had been a little better written. It's goal was to keep the economy rolling through about a 3 month period, until things could stabilize, without resulting in a mass economic shutdown. To some extent you could say that it succeeded. I really don't see a case for the second round in any but the most devastated economic sectors (restaurants are an example). But that is just my opinion, and I'm sure some will disagree. PPP and other excess stimulus was a contributor (not the entire enchilada, but a contributor) to all the money floating around the economy right now, fueling business consolidations (I get about one random email per day from someone wanting to buy our company) and mergers of all kinds, few of which offer any real economic benefit to anyone other than the dealmaker.

OK, now you guys can argue about fraud, government waste, taxes, pointless Wall St & merger activity, and other things. I'm bored with talking about the jab.

Oh thanks for the clarification. When I said the data showed the vaccine successful in preventing the the spread, you responded the authorization didn't require that data. I even asked for clarification. So you agree they had positive data on preventing the spread of 19.... so my statement was accurate and you agree. Glad we are on the same page.

And your big brother, and smarter brother Chat GBT disagrees with your timeline. December 20, 2020 is when they first started to administer the vaccines. Of course went to the elderly first. I was not in that category and got my first vax in March 2021. According to Chat, mid 2021 is when 19 mutated to Delta. Do you agree with Chat?

As I said there was a small window.

BTW what propaganda? You know who I listened to...a friend. Way smarter than you on the subject. Told me what to expect in 4/2020, when to take the drug and which one. And the history not only of covid but other pandemics and endemics. Now, he is a subject matter expert. I would never ask him about bankruptcy for example. I would go to a subject matter expert like you or Donald Trump.

Chun let USC and Oregon outscore us 38-0 in the second half? And he made Rolo put our third string QB in? Chun also told Rolo we didn’t need to recruit any linemen?

Damn…I already hated Chun for being the ultimate villain and going to UW, seriously F that guy now. What an asshole.

I was eligible for PPP money and refused it. That’s just me.

My company refused to ask for PPP money. We didn't have slowdowns that would have resulted in job losses and all the pandemic did was to get our backlog down to a manageable amount. One of our local competitors took $5 million and it was 100% pure profit for them.
