Off-topic again - OMG Mich. State

This is more of an issue with media outlets looking for a social reaction than anything else. Yes, it’s silly that’s colleges put this into committee review, but had it not been broadcast, nobody would have known about it.

I believe 15 States still have active sodomy laws banning oral and anal sex. Raise your hand if you’re in compliance.
As Bill Clinton would say...define oral? And is there a statute of limitations?

Its defacto legislation, but you knew that.

Because it's now in writing, someone can file a formal complaint saying that someone else was not adhering to MSU guidelines, and thus some sort of corrective action would be warranted.
Actually I don't know that is "defacto legislation"...legislation is legislation. That's like saying I wrote down some do's and don'ts and it makes it a "defacto Bible".

Just as trannies are mentally ill and need help.
Two thoughts...

1) Do you always put down and discriminate against mentally ill people.
2) What would your view be in say 20 years, they line up 100 boys, 99 want to transition, one who isn't "mentally ill. And 99 of the 100 kids have identical genetic coding, and the one who is different is the one not "mentally ill".
IE there is something in their genetic makeup makes them the way they are?

No and yes. You know buddy, you are really starting to become a dick.
Actually Loyal I asks questions not to make assumptions. Let me help you understand why I would ask such a question that seemed to have offended you.

At my previous employer in which I was there 25 plus years. It was a company my wife and I both worked for, and they had very lax HR policies. It was more a family than work. A bunch of misfits if you will. And no I did not meet my wife there. I dated her before she and I worked for the same employer.

Her best friend at work and my assistant was a woman. She had a nick name for me. Dickwad. She would walk by my office with coffee cup in hand and say "morning Dickwad".

So that was our HR in a nutshell. So let's say one day I am upset and she calls me Dickwad and I report it to HR, or much more realistic if a new employee heard it, was offended, and tells HR.

Would she know her behavior was "offensive". No, cause it hadn't been in the past. Would she be surprised someone was offended. Yep.

How is it a "put down" when it is accurate? Maybe you haven't seen the statistics on how many of the trans people consider and even attempt suicide? I would say that is a darn strong indication of mental illness, mental instability.

Yes wokeness and/or the related "get offended over anything" can stop you from keeping a job. I know that from personal experience.

That said, I agree that the POS's like Tucker Carlson are a worse blight on America.
BTW Loyal, I think Colin Kapernak would agree with you...but may disagree with who is being "woke".

Stretch I said call them what you want. Calling them mentally ill isn't the put down. It is how they are treated.

Any idea why they try to commit suicide?

Well, I do think that way... so yea, you did say me.
Oh....so you think they should be coddled? You think a Governor should prohibit the teachings of black studies at a university?

You think books on Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente should be banned from the library? That seems awful "woke" to me and "coddling" youth and our adults .

I think that is much more dangerous than defacto legislation in an owners manual.

Are the trans people struggling with all of the support they are getting? Do they feel that for some reason they are undeserving of all the accolades they get in academia and the MSM about how wonderful they are, how brave they are, how exalted they are? Just wondering, because that is sure how it looks like they are being treated to me.

Not a trained psychologist and never talked with any about such things, but my best GUESS about why they attempt suicide is because of mental illness. They are messed up in the head, and they think by taking some drugs and having some cosmetic surgery that they can actually change their sex. That is false, and they are only fooling themselves if they believe such things.

I agree that they are messed up in the head. That said, I bear no ill will towards them, but no, biological males should not be allowed to compete in women's sports. Period. And if you still have a penis, you should not be allowed in a women's restroom. Period. All this coddling and special treatment? Why? Why are they special? I never got coddled, and I'm pretty special. Make your choices in your life but don't ask me to do more than just shrug.

It's not the college kids who are fragile and weak.

It's the parents who raised them to be that way.
I beg to differ. The parents that raised the college kids to be that way were stupid! They did not raise them to be strong, to deal with winning as well as losing, to understand that success or failure is entirely up to them, that things don't always go their way, that there is NOT a right to never be offended by something that someone else says or does, and to infuse them with a good work ethic.

And yes, it IS the college kids (in general) that are fragile and weak.

In the interesting timing department, my 30 something niece just left this morning after visiting from out of state with her family. We had some good discussions, and she was complaining about how in her organization they cannot find young workers that are dedicated and want to work hard, to actually do a good job. And I have talked to several different businesses/organizations about their efforts to attract competent employees, and without exception they express their frustration with being unable to find good quality employees.

Whether I agree with you on all of it, some of it, part of it, or none of it, any idea how many kids we are talking about participating nation wide.

This happened at in my daughter's school district. A girl who participated in high school sports and got a major d 1 scholie was born as an it. She was a twin. Parents had to decide at birth which way they wanted to go. They chose to give her female hormones. Should she have been allowed to participate? Clearly there was some gene confusion.

Two things Stretch...one, so you agree that we should not be banning books about Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente, and we should not have a governor banning an elective at the college level of Black Studies. I agree with you .

Pretty big and broad brush stroke about college kids. Trust me our parents said the same thing.

Maybe you need to meet my kids and their friends, and I think you might have a different opinion about being fragile and weak.

Socrates:

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

This is definitely true. I'll hire older workers every single day of the week if given the choice (sue me) but finding ANY talent willing to work these days is increasingly difficult.

Ed, as you may know, the Hank Aaron and Clemente books were reinstated following a review, as the law was designed to work.

Re the "college level" course -- i.e., the high school AP class -- a revised syllabus without CRT, queer theory, arguments for abolishing prisons and reparations, and black feminism, and with BLM studies as optional, with theories like that replaced with facts and lived experiences, was issued by the College Board.

Parents had to decide at birth which way they wanted to go. They chose to give her female hormones. Should she have been allowed to participate? Clearly there was some gene confusion.

Ed your again citing the exception, to make a point about the majority.

Of course as a LITERAL, REAL Transgender, where either have both, or all of boobs, penis, vagina, testosterone, male and female genes, chromosomes, Estrogen, etc, or had to Surgically choose which at birth, she is the exception, and should be able to use whatever bathroom, or compete in both men's and women's sports.

But 99.999% of Transgenders, ED are GENDER DYSPHORIA, or born biologically with either a Penis or Vagina, and are either a Biological Male or Female, and not both, or crossdress as drag queens, or pretend to be the opposite biological gender, sex of their birth, etc.

As such Ed, the 99.999% of Transgenders, the type of transgenders I am talking about should not use the opposite biological sex bathroom, and should not compete against biological females.

Are you aware Ed, that the transgender laws are stupidly set in such a way, in many places, that a Biological Male with a penis, either dressed to look like a biological female, and even still dressed like a biological male, that they can legally in theory, theoretically walk into a female bathroom, with the intention to RAPE a woman, where nobody would know that intention, and where all that person has tp do is say "I IDENTIFY AS A FEMALE, and as such am a female", and they are allowed into the bathroom, and no one is legally allowed to stop, prevent that, and then the person RAPED a female.

There was actually a high profile case that the media, etc, covered up, didn't cover, let die on back burner, etc, because it didn't meet their agenda.

In that case, a Biological Male with a penis legally entered the bathroom. And when people tried to stop him, he said I IDENTIFY AS A WOMAN, AND AM A WOMAN, AND AM ALLOWED TO USE THIS BATHROOM.

Store or school or security, etc, let him use that bathroom. And then he RAPED a woman in the Bathroom.

How would you like it Ed, if your daughter were RAPED in the same way in the same kind of situation?

Would you still be in favor of Biological Males with a penis being allowed into a Female bathroom then?

Females Ed, have the RIGHT to NOT have their privacy violated by a transgender, biological male with a penis.

They also have the right to NOT BE RAPED by biological male with a penis legally or illegally being in the female bathroom with them.

Gender Dysphoric Biological Males, Identifying, pretending to be opposite gender's right end where female rights begin.

That means if you are, were born a biological male, have a penis, you are NOT ALLOWED, or SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED into female bathrooms.

And should not be allowed to compete with females in title 9 sports, etc.

That is not Bigotry.

That is a HEALTH AND SAFETY AND FEMALE RIGHTS ISSUE.

You can stop playing DEVILS ADVOCATE, or just stop being silly anytime ED.

Ed you are misrepresenting things.

None of us and no non bigoted person is against BLACK STUDIES.

And it's NOT BLACK STUDIES that SEMI MODERATES AND SEMI CONSERVATIVES, etc, are against.

I forget the technical name of the teaching of how blacks are all currently slaves, and victims, and how all whites alive now are currently slave masters, and that the SYSTEM is SYSTEMATICALLY against all blacks currently.

That is being taught in 4,5,6 grades, Jr High's, Highschools, Colleges, etc.

It is not a legit Black Studies Class, and SHOULD NOT BE TAUGHT to KIDS.

And it is WRONGLY taught to kids.

A example is that even a BLACK father had his BLACK kids, in LAUDEN(however it's spelled) county Virginia, being taught that SHET, AND RIGHTFULLY complained about it on in a school, parents conference video, where he shared DAMNING PROOF, EVIDENCE.

He said I AND MY KID ARE NOT SLAVES, VICTIMS, PLEASE STOP TEACHING THAT SUPPOSEDLY WE ARE SLAVES, VICTIMS.

Nobody or no non bigots, and moderates, conservatives, etc, has any problem with a Black Studies, history class, where teach about Rosa Parks and other similar stuff.

You can stop acting, being Silly anytime Ed.

That's the name I couldn't remember.

CRITICAL RACE THEORY, or CRT, which is the teaching that the CURRENT government, society, system is SYSTEMATICALLY against black people, that CURRENTLY ALL black people are either SLAVES, VICTIMS, OR EXTREMELY LIKELY, SEMI DOOMED to be such, and that ALL WHITES ARE PRIVILEDGED, and are Slave Masters, and Lords over the Black Victims.

It's being taught in Lauden County Virginia to KIDS, and it's DIVISIVE and can make kids be against each other, and can strip hope from black kids, and can enable APATHY by black kids.

A Black father in Virginia is SICK of it.

CRT and Black Studies that teaches about things like Rosa Parks, etc, ARE, IS NOT THE SAME.

CRT IS WRONGLY BEING TAUGHT IN PLACES LIKE LAUDEN County Virginia, and it needs to be banned, shut down.

Nobody or no non bigoted person, Moderates, Conservatives, etc, are not against Black Studies.

They are against CRT which is Bad, different the Black Studies.

And no Governor banned Black Studies classes.

They rightfully banned CRT, which is NOT a legit Black Studies class.

Ed is being silly again.

Damn.....you have an amazing lack of empathy and understanding. Is it remotely possible that trans people are more likely to consider and attempt suicide is because malevolent, hateful assholes are constantly attacking them because of their gender identity issues?

If you had spent your entire life being told that you are damaged goods, mentally ill and a freak....maybe you would consider offing yourself?

No, it can't be that....

Any idea why they try to commit suicide?
Right or wrong, it’s because they can’t normally assimilate into any societal sect. It’s going to get worse before it gets better, as the LGB community is going to break away and distance themselves from the trans community in the coming years.

That's more true than the LGB or T community is wanting to admit. When it comes down to it, the majority of people have gotten over their hatred of the LGB community. We hate it when Disney or other "woke" companies beat us over the head with it, but for the most part, we just don't care as much as we used to. There is a vocal minority of course, but most people are just, "Meh, whatever" when it comes to the LGB part of the equation.

The trans community has it much, much rougher and they hurt their own cause by tilting at the wrong windmills. They alienate millions of people with their insistence that trans athletes should compete in the sport of their choice which causes someone like me who is generally supportive and turns me into an opponent on the issue.

It doesn't help that it's easier to villainize a trans person if someone is searching for reasons. One, a lot of trans people just look different no matter how they try and we are genetically geared to dislike things that aren't "normal". Second, there are dudes out there that will hit on anything with two tits and some of them live in fear that they'll end up getting to second base with a trans "woman". Fear of deception is easy to stoke. Another factor is that we all know that there are a lot of hetero rapists out there and one of the big arguments against the trans community is their desire to use the bathroom of their choice. Subconsciously, we know that there is undoubtedly a hetero, non-trans dude who will dress up as a woman to rape someone. It sucks that fear of straight people makes life miserable for trans people.

It's a complicated issue and I can see the LGB community choosing to walk away from a hill that's not worth dying on.

Then there is the issue of teachers teaching gender confusion ie "do you think you are a boy or a girl"..."do you think you are a boy or a girl" and encouraging kids to be trans and not telling the parents the pronouns that they are addressing the kids by.

Can't believe this crap is going on.

And here's some more sick shit

About the only good thing to come out of the pandemic is that parents became more aware of what was going on in schools.

We should spend more time focusing on erradicating this than placating to those who get offended by Christmas trees and Easter bunnies.

Well 425 you simply made my point. One, the class was optional. Just like philosophy was optional for me in college. There was nothing "factual" in it, yet it wasn't legislated out of the college curriculum.

Pulling Hank Aaron's and Roberto Clemente's books off the shelf? Why? We want to shield our kids about their stories and struggle cause it might make them uncomfortable? That is the text book definition of making our kids soft. Shield them from a truth, or what Hank Aaron and Clemente went through.

Did they pull the books of Micky Mantle and Pete Roe off the shelves? That can tell kids they can gamble and make money on sports.

Rosa Parks being pulled off the shelf?

Are you wanting to not teach the kids the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor because our kids will bully kids that are of Japanese descent? Or that the Germans turned their heads when Hitler was in power and now we might make a divide between kids at school?

All I can do is observe the world that is around me, and the kids that are around my kids. I remember my oldest was down in an AAU tourney called End of the Trails. And there was a kid from a Portland team that could have been a dude. You know what the team did? Strapped on their shoes and played. Years later I asked both my girls what happens if you played against a trans kid. "Dad we play against who we play against. That is their business and their struggle."

Kids today don't see stuff as the older generations do. I remember going to a AAU tourney for my younger daughter, she was a junior in high school. One of her AAU teammates introduced me to someone that came to watch her play. Her teammate says this is my girlfriend. At first I was thinking it was a friend that was a female, then I asked my daughter later, is that her girlfriend girlfriend, like a partner? "Yes dad, what's the big deal". I had to tell her no one in my era came out in the high school.

Parents have every right to have their kids read what they want them to read and learn what they want them to learn. But the problem in doing so they are only sheltering them for so long and making them soft in doing so...or snowflakes was the term that is being tossed around here.

Eugene Oregon, go figure. What confuses me is the guys testimony doesn't jive with the link showing the assignment. Are these 2 different things?

Yes they are. Heard last night on a talk show a columnist who was gay said the exact same thing, and in his personal opinion if they didn't have sexual reassignment that they would have lived their life as the writer has, as a gay male.

It sounds more like a teach who is perving out and they haven't either caught him or haven't gotten rid of him. These stories are long before gay trans etc was front and center. There is a church that shielded conviction and moved clergy from church to church.

It could have been a different assignment or teacher...but they were both from the same school district

Or mass shooting at schools, and solving the problem.

I agree. In the former, if you talk to a kid about sex, you should be arrested. Period.

Same if you encourage a kid to be trans...question their gender, refer to them by a pronoun other than their birth gender etc.

I did not make your point, Ed. I corrected your ignorance or disingenuousness regarding those books not actually being banned and the AP course remaining with revised contents that cut out those elements I described. Funny how you didn't mention any of that.

The books weren't banned. A local official pulling them, with them being reinstated following the review contemplated in the law, does not support what you appear to be arguing for, although it is unclear. Nearly all the books that were, in fact, banned were sexually explicit.

Further, the course being optional is not dispositive. Public school funds were used to hire teachers to teach that course and otherwise provide the infrastructure, so the state used its authority to prevent things like CRT, queer theory, arguments for abolishing prisons and reparations, and black feminism from being taught in the high school elective course. Experiences, especially those covering people suffering from discrimination, slavery, and other abhorrent things, and overcoming adversity, were retained and expanded. BLM was retained as an optional component. You'd probably be surprised at what was retained. The usual suspects are pushing misleading narratives, which then are pushed in even more misleading ways by people like you.

Choices are made all the time regarding pedagogical content. It just usually goes in one direction in terms of social issues. Not this time in the context of public schools in Florida, whether you -- or, for that matter, I -- agree fully with it or not.

Mik...you know this how? You read it?

You know parents in Loudon County had a big meeting about CRT at a public school board meeting with future governor Youngkin.

Outside the meeting were kids who attended the schools in question. You know what they said? I don't know what the big deal is, they don't teach CRT at our schools.

There is a fantastic history teacher, retired history teacher, that comes around on this board infrequently. And I will tell you I have gone to his school to speak, I have gone to watch him teach. And I can tell you he is the best teacher I have ever seen. For me he is a great reference what is part of the teachings in school, our schools in the puget sound area.

My kids and their classmates are a great reference as well. They have seemed to made it past what you are calling an indoctrination.

Maybe we just got lucky.

And someone who thinks there is worked to be done in hat you are referring to...I think systemic racism....I will tell you reparations will never be paid. Ever.

It may be a great sound bite for some people, but it is never going to happen. If I gave up my house, and everyone in my neighborhood followed my lead, that solves nothing.

Gen X was raised with "be seen and not hear", "suck it up", latchkey kids - a lot of "**** off, we've got better things to do" from their parents, which while it creates a self-reliant independent individual has also borne this incredible over-correction that started with participation trophies and is now full blown child-worship, to the point of "oh, you want to be an albino cat who identifies as an multi-gendered iceberg? Cool! Lets go ahead and make sure all of society plays pretend with you, and if they don't there is something wrong with the other 3 billion people on the planet. Also, we're going to fight for albino-cat-non-binary-iceberg rights and make sure laws and statutes are written to validate our existence as well, and if you don't you are a hate monger, bigot, and xenophobe."

No middle ground, btw. No disapproval with love, or confrontational guidance - all that means is that you aren't validating a 14 year olds world view and therefore you're a bad person. Ironic that we (seemingly) believe as a country that only septegenerians have the wisdom to lead the country, but GODDAMIT ALL TO HELL RESPECT MY WISE WISE TEEN TO MAKE IRREVERSABLE LIFE CHOICES FOR THEMSELVES!!!!

The biggest transgression is from the medical field who, with clear conscious, is enabling and profiting from this tragedy, psychiatry being the worst. Why aren't they standing up and talking loudly about the psychosis that is gender dysphoria and how to treat that instead of allowing the world to dictate the treatment? Its clinically proven that post transition patients continue to suffer from many if not all of the adjacent mental health issues they had pre-transition, so how are we helping? Certainly "do no harm" doesn't mean ignore the problem.

Enough. Adults need to adult, we can do with with love and understanding instead of "because I said so" like our parents.

There is definitely an assault and sexualization of the children going on in Canada as well as here. I could post a lot more instances of this crap but I want to be able to digest my lunch.

Again, you continue to make my point. Rosa Parks, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente were banned for what reason? Hell Clemente has been dead for 52 years. That means people have read his story for 42 years without "harming" at least three generations of people.

You are shielding a new generation, even if it is temporary, from a viewpoint of history from the book that has been around for 40 plus years.

By taking those books off the shelf, and having a review is so over the top. It is no different than what ultra liberals have done. Just a different method.

Societal influences, hardship, stress, less opportunities, inferior, treated like shi$? Let's compare suicide rates to race. Trans comparisons are difficult since we are limited on historical data.

White suicide rates are historically 3x that of black rates. Even during the 50's and 60's when there was far more hardships/barriers for the black population, 3x rate less. One could conclude that they have less mental health conditions than white people even though they faced more hardships.

Latino/Hispanic rates are 2-3x lower, current and historically. Asian 3X, currently/historically. Same mental health conclusions can be made here.

Anyway, something to consider with your argument above.

What school district was this? Link please to the story(s).

Never mind, I found it. Florida. Go figure again.

I agree. In the former, if you talk to a kid about sex, you should be arrested. Period.

Same if you encourage a kid to be trans...question their gender, refer to them by a pronoun other than their birth gender etc.
I guess where I struggle sponge...is there are more kids who have been killed in the last year by gun fire at schools than there are trans kids in school where we worry about their pronouns. But it is the trans question of say 500 kids that are out in the US, less than 100 play in sports in the US, that is roughly two per state.

And I do know this. in 2000 I firmly believe gay rights and gay marriage is what tipped the scale with Bush and Gore. Bush and Cheney made it a huge campaign issue, and the gay community di as well, forcing Gore's hand. You know what happened? Our society hasn't crumbled because of these "degenerates? If the gay rights people in 2000 just allowed time they have seen their rights change.
