Just another reason NOT to play the game. The governor comes and gives the trophy.

WSU ending up in a glorified MWC would do that.WSU, without a rivalry game, will end our D1 football participation. No more games with Oregon and UW. No more games with USC and UCLA. What’s gonna excite our fan base and motivate them to watch and attend games?
Not if we’re able to retain the yearly Apple Cup and semi regular matchups with Oregon and Oregon St.WSU ending up in a glorified MWC would do that.
It won't matter. OSU will become the big game annually with the majority of the MWC and that's what it's going to be.Not if we’re able to retain the yearly Apple Cup and semi regular matchups with Oregon and Oregon St.
Winning games solves the problem. If you have to rely on your opponents to excite people about your team, then you are doing everything wrong.WSU, without a rivalry game, will end our D1 football participation. And that’s the problem, and one reason the Apple cup would be cancelled. UW will change the set up, UW would insist on a 2 for 1 deal, or a “neutral site” like an NFL stadium. They will stop every other year in Pullman, which will stop the Apple CupHerein lies the problem though. They already think they are better than WSU. Imagine if they leave for the Big10 w more money. They will NEVER play WSU on equal ground. Won’t happen. Therefor if they leave it’s over. I wouldn’t mind keeping the rivalry alive if we did it under the same terms but there’s no way in hell that will happen.
If that's the worst-case scenario, there would be nothing wrong with the game becoming an annual event in Seahawk Stadium. Rotate it every other year so it counts as a home/road game for each program. Better yet, set it up as an annual neutral site game so each team can count it as road game every season so they can retain their full allotment of home games every season. And that’s the problem, and one reason the Apple cup would be cancelled. Kick and scream about it all you want, but we wouldn't backfill the game with an opponent of merit to replace them. If the conferences blow up and we get relegated to a MWC/PAC hybrid league, we would have a tremendous recruiting advantage over the other programs the new league if we retain the Apple Cup. My God, at least we'd have annual regional games our fan base would care about. UW, Oregon State, Boise State, etc.
If WSU and Oregon end up in different conferences, why not keep that rivalry alive by playing at Seahawks Stadium every year?
Gives both schools a close-by non-conference rivalry that's convenient for each fan base.
Also would irritate UW's fragile fan base to no end 😁
That was a bad idea when it came up 10 years ago, and it’s still a bad idea now. Annual WSU games in Seattle were a loser, and they’ll be even worse against UW. Remember, they already demanded 2/3 of the seats every year, so even when we’re wearing home jerseys, it’s really their home game.If that's the worst-case scenario, there would be nothing wrong with the game becoming an annual event in Seahawk Stadium. Comparing WSU vs. Idaho or Stanford at Seahawk Stadium is a bit different than the Apple Cup.That was a bad idea when it came up 10 years ago, and it’s still a bad idea now. No thanks.
Yeah, way more UW fans will come to Apple Cup.Comparing WSU vs. Idaho or Stanford at Seahawk Stadium is a bit different than the Apple Cup.
So we should replace them with Southern Utah? Idaho? Eastern?Yeah, way more UW fans will come to Apple Cup.
I think an annual game with Boise St would draw really well.So we should replace them with Southern Utah? Idaho? Eastern?
No, we shouldn’t play anyone in Seahawks stadium. So we should replace them with Southern Utah? Idaho? Eastern?

More loser fan talk.
We aren't rivals with UO. The mutts are our rival. And the Seattle game was an abject failure. Just ask Popcorn guy.Just looking for ways to keep the WSU-UO rivalry alive.
Maybe the Ducks would want to continue with home-and-home if they decided to leave for the Big Ten and WSU decided to stay in the Pac-12 or go to the Big 12?
Or perhaps Schulz-Chun would prefer to end the series regardless of venue?
Playing at the Seahawks Stadium would require both WSU and UO to make a "sacrifice" in order to maintain a yearly matchup, similar to Oklahoma-Texas in Dallas and Florida-Georgia in Jacksonville
