He took a team that wasn't bad and made it bad. It's early to be on the hot seat, but last year was definitely a bad look for Sumlin.
Sumlins run at A&M didn't inspire confidence either. The shine is really off his star.
Sumlin sucks. He is pissing away Tate's talent. That kid is electrifying under any other coach. Sumlin takes 5 star kids and makes them no calls. "No calls" = announcer never calling their name...
Sumlin looked great at Houston with an exceptional QB, whose name I have forgotten, and parlayed that into the job at Texas A&M where he ran into Johnny Football and looked great there too. Since then, meh. Was curious to see how he would do with Tate but so far, nothing.
Very simple, Sumlin is a Spread, Air Raid, passing attack ish, esque like HC.

That's what he is trying to do at Arizona, but is failing because he is trying to pound a square, non passing attack QB Tate, into a round passing attack hole.
Basically he should have tried to get a Job at a passing attack college, instead of going to Arizona.
That would be like Mike Leach going to a POWER RUNNING College, and trying to pound a square Air Raid into a POWER RUNNIING hole.
It would be the same result as Sumlin:

The longer he goes without Tate doing well, the more he loses his team. Every one of the kids on that team know what Tate can do. If Sumlin doesn't let that kid do what he does and UA starts losing, it'll be Sumlin that gets fired.
You can't take over a team and take the best player and turn him into just a guy.
Sumlin is has and always was a fraud.
At Houston his OC was Holgerson / Kingsburry.
At A&M it was Kingsburry.
He doesn’t know the air raid he just hired people who did. That was his “expertise”.
Now that all those guys are head coaches now he basically is exposed as a fraud.
