Rolo’s a NoNo

My take on this is Rolo's attorneys are trying to say Chun and/or Inslee violated Rolo's civil rights, which is a fairly standard employment law, wrongful termination play (based on my knowledge of the subject).

I still think it's tough sledding for Rolo as the decision to accommodate was done through sources that were not Chun and/or WSU. Inslee's orders were protected due to the state of emergency we were in, so he's basically free to do whatever he needs to do to protect the citizens of the state.

Agreed, this will be one of the dark points in our history. So much ignorance created an angry mob mentality that was ruling things.
Chun and Schulz were named because when you file a wrongful termination suit, you name everyone and hope that something sticks. Without evidence of malice, Chun and Schulz were always going to be released because they were acting as agents of the university, not in a personal capacity.

I still think the quote from the judge is significant, because it basically says that employers were justified in terminating over failure to comply with the order (duh). And WSU was the employer, not Chun, Schulz, or Inslee. If this judge gets to decide, the whole case is going away. In fact, the breach of contract claim could come back on Rolo, since the contract has general requirements that he represent WSU positively.

The attorney on the WSU side needs to be more careful with his language though. Some of the statements from his side seem to almost attack religion, which isn’t going to gain any support. He can make the same point without pissing off that portion of the potential jury pool.

Ultimately I still say that this shouldn’t be about religion. Make it simple - the requirement was for employees to meet the mandate. He didn’t.

You are asking the wrong person. I was out of eligibility. If 40% of the recruits/families didn’t want a coach who wasn’t vaxxed in their home, then that job just got 40% harder for that coach. Again I don’t give two shits about your belief in the vax, if you can’t get into living rooms to recruit, you are worthless as a coach.

Oh Geezus Christ. When the Pope tells people to get vaxxed, then Rolo cites his Catholic faith as his reason not to, I mean come on. Violating what beliefs? He knows more than the Pope?

You already admitted on these very forums that you get all of your information from CNN.

STFU

Oh c'mon Stretch. This is really a reach (or stretch in your case). I mean why would you even post such a thing?

This whole anti-vax thing is just getting old. As I've said, I've had 4 jabs. J&J, Pfizer, and Moderna. Damn glad I had 'em all. And yes, still got a very mild case of Covid. Very mild. I know personally one anti-vaxxer, in her 50's, who died of Covid. People are still dying from Covid. People are still running around my town wearing masks. So maybe the vaccines didn't "prevent" it as originally publicized, but they sure as hell saved lives by reducing the impact.

She probably had 500 co-morbidities like the majority of covid deaths.

STFU? Who the F are you? What is your degree from WSU? What is your profession? Yeah I regularly get my news fron CNN, but I check Faux News on occasion. And my local news sources.

Where do you get your news, prick? And why are you picking a fight with me, asshole?

ED, before RoLo announced himself as an anti-vaxxer, were you on board with him as HFC at WSU?

I know there were some fans who liked him as a coach, but then changed their minds 180° because of his approach to Covid-19
No clue… I don’t knee jerk react to a coach . I thought Price was a clapping clown in 1990. I probably would have fired him after 1990.

Two people said two different things in the season of 1990 and spring of 1991 that totally changed me and I have had patience ever since.

My office manager's wife nearly died from COVID and suffered serious side effects for a year. If not for the fact that she received excellent medical care, she would have died. She is fit, healthy, right at 60 years old, eats healthy, does yoga and doesn't have any co-morbidities. So yeah, COVID was bad for a lot of people. It still baffles me that our country has fallen to where it has where people who used to be able to have logical conversations have turned into a bunch of tin-foil hat wearing loonies just because one orange haired goon managed to huckster his way into the white house.

Trump was decidedly pro-vaccine. Operation Warp Speed was under his watch.

But always good to work that rant into any post.

Well done.

Ummmm......the orange haired goon cultivated an environment where nobody is willing to listen to anyone who disagreed. He learned what kind of monster he created when he got booed for encouraging people to get the vaccine. Trump has no personal convictions beyond accumulating wealth and influence and you can feel free to note that you'll never hear him say anything about the vaccines today. He's very flexible in his moral choices based on what he thinks plays well with his base. The orange one is a big part of the political and social environment that we have today.

FWIW, I agree with those that say that getting a booster now is a waste of time unless you are a high risk patient. With the way that the virus has mutated and changed, most people will see no benefit. That doesn't mean that was always the case....and that's the thing that the anti-vaxxers can't grasp.

When Rolovich was part of the discussion, he had an obligation to "get the jab" if he wanted to keep his job. He felt that he couldn't do that. I don't harbor any ill will today towards him for his stand, but I don't think that WSU should have to give him money because of that choice. Frankly, if he was a good coach and other AD's felt like he got screwed...he would have a job right now. It could be that he doesn't have a job because he is focused on winning his case against WSU, but even that just paints him as a selfish a-hole who doesn't want to work for a living and would rather get paid for nothing besides self created "suffering". I don't like the way things went and I don't root for his success, but I think Dickert is a much better coach and person.

The original reference was "As for us "Sheep," while it is "My body, my choice," what the F does that have to do with one's employer, and how he runs his business. ".

Just questioning how much the employer can mandate what an individual employee does with his/her body. In each case it can affect the operations of the organization. That is why.

An attorney always says that whatever happened was what he was expecting. But it still fails to address the simple fact that employees were mandated to get vaccinated and he didn’t do it. And that he drug his feet to even apply until it was too late for any other outcome.
The suit is still pending, so why does any of that need to be addressed?

This wasn't much of a loss to Rolovich. The dude is correct in saying the core of the case is proceeding. WSU/State of Washington will now have to decide how much time and money will be spent on discovery, and their tolerance for airing dirty laundry.

The Democrats handed the White House to Donald Trump when they nominated that old cow. Even if I dislike Trump, I've got to say in hindsight, I'm kind of glad that she didn't win.

The one thing that does give me hope for our country is that Biden and McCarthy were able to work out a compromise on the debt ceiling deal. Compromise is not a four letter word and our country will be better off if folks from both parties work together rather than hoping to sabotage things in the hopes that will piss off voters so that they get their chance.

Aside from the fact that I think McCarthy is a complete bag of shit, I was glad to see the bipartisan vote as well. For the first time in forever. Of course they really didn't have much choice, and a big handful of Repugnant ones voted no.

Well a good friend of mine his father in law once coached at wsu. He came back to coach against them within a team from what most would say is a lesser conference and his team dominated Mike prices team in 1990. I was sitting next to a coach who once coached with my friends father in law. I was all pissed off at Joe tiller for lack of in game adjustments .

This coaches said “Ed I love your passion but two things to know. One, there are nice professionals on the other side who make adjustments as well.

Second, by the time you notice an adjustment two or three adjustments probably have already been made.

Second thing was spring of 1991 and the same coach came back to Pullman . I went to the spring game to watch the last spring game that was played in Yakima .

I visited my friends father in law after the scrimmage and we were standing outside the locker room and this guy in a big cowboy hat was talking to anyone who would listen . He was a fan and said “trust me Mike price will turn it around. He said it several times and that it requires patience. The guy… Mac Bledsoe. If he had faith in Price maybe I should k give Price a break .

Ok maybe he didn’t say UV up the ass…I’ll take that back. Although based on his other assessments I doubt he’d rule it out.

Potato, potahto. I googled and found the actual press conference clip. So no, he did not specifically say drink bleach, but he did say we should consider ingesting or injecting "disinfectants". And yes consider some sort of internal UV light treatment.

Welllll, I am not sure we should trust anything we see or hear any more. Especially from the MSM. Sadly, the MSM have devolved from a group of dedicated and mostly honest reporters/journalists into a propaganda arm for the Democrat party and pretty much any liberal cause out there. They make almost zero attempt to hide their dishonesty or their contempt for anything remotely conservative or Republican. (Note that conservative and Republican are not necessarily one and the same)

As for specifically Trump promoting injecting bleach and putting a UV light up the ass, It's nice to see that you folks that thought he did actually push that have found out yourselves how wrong you were. As for me, I knew how it went, that he was basically bantering back and forth with the "BRILLIANT DOCTORS" asking about POSSIBLE ways to combat the virus. Never was he promoting anything like that, it was basically like a brainstorming session where folks throw out ideas that seem crazy but once in while one of those crazy ideas turns out to be a good one.

I bet you guys also thought that Trump was sticking up for the neo Nazis or whatever that far out group was in Charlottesville. Wrong on that. Anyone remember when the MSM was castigating Trump when he visited Japan early in his term? Yes, they showed the Japanese leader throwing out some bits of food to a koi pond, then showed Trump dumping a large bunch of the food right into the pond. Jesus, what a stupid moron he was, a true embarrassment for the entire United States! Right? Well, turns out the answer is no. When the entire video was played, it showed Trump following the lead of the Japanese leader by throwing small amounts of food into the pond, and ONLY AFTER he dumped the remainder of the food into the pond did Trump do the same thing. You see, that is the type of complete dishonest that is supposed to pass for journalism these days. You need to step back and check things out before buying into anything from the MSM now.

Want a couple more examples? How about "Hands up, don't shoot"? How about border guards supposedly whipping immigrants? How about a huge one? Two words-Russian Collusion!

There's many more, but I will give it a rest for now.

Bottom line-Trump is far from perfect, and I do not like or appreciate everything he says or does. But I sure would be happier if the press would just report on him fairly and leave it up to all us citizens outside of WA DC to make up our minds about him based on actual facts and acts rather than the biased and unfair way it is currently being done. Perhaps if they had actually done that some of you here would not have looked so foolish when you went off on attacking Trump unfairly?

You ask that Trump be treated fairly and yet he has no problem being a complete and total a$$hole who lies relentlessly, flip flops on issues when necessary and is a heartless turncoat who will attempt to destroy anyone who doesn't pledge total allegiance. Those aren't lies or exaggerations....that's 40 years of data.

If his fans held him to any accountability for his actions, I'd agree that he deserves "fair" treatment. As it is, he's allowed to say or do whatever he wants and it is ignored. Until that changes, f#ck that guy.

Bingo. Look we all know that 90% of “news” is opinion and commentary and you are going to hate it or eat it up and repeat it as fact depending on which side of the aisle you sit.

Video and audio don’t lie. I’m not saying everything trump touched died like some media like to portray. I am saying that I saw plenty of audio and video of him where I was like…huh? Did the president of the US just say that, the vaccine stuff just scratched the surface, there were plenty of other moments that were worse.

Yes I think trump sucked (I think bidens not much better btw) but my opinion is formed by things I’ve seen him do and say, not anything that Don Lemmon or Rachel Maddow said - easiest excuse to use when someone is insulting your hero.

And…his dumbass moments go back several years before he was president.

Honestly, in one way or another, our presidents (and basically all elected offices, especially at the state & national level) have been on a downward trajectory for my entire memory, maybe with a few moments of flat trajectory. They fell off a cliff in 2016.

Yep I agree. While I was no fan of Ronald Ray-gun, in that era of him and Tip O'Neill they actually did things for the greater good of America. Now it's just for the good of the politician. And news was reported as news, not opinion and making shit up. We have fallen so far. And younger Americans, in general, are clueless cell phone junkies. In fact, no one pays attention to shit anymore. I've ranted this before - I talk to all ages of people about the issues of the day and they have no clue. Don't read the paper (paper or online), don't watch the news. If it doesn't come through their phone, they have no idea.

I’m not going to put Ronny Ray-gun’s face on Rushmore either. He was pretty unapologetic about giving money and tax breaks to the rich and then tried to sell the BS idea that it would trickle down. I don’t really buy that he was more interested in the “greater good” than he was in benefits to the rich cronies that would give him another term.

The only thing people with money want is more money. Trickle-down theory was ridiculously implausible.

Yeah, that trickle down theory was about the most BS thing in history. While a 70% marginal tax rate may have been a little much, cutting it to 28% and igniting our ongoing deficit nightmare was F-ing nuts.
