Washington State has offered Riverside (Calif.) C.C. linebacker A.J. Hotchkins, he announced on Twitter. It's the first Pac-12 offer for the 6-foot, 230-pound inside linebacker, who also holds offers from Bowling Green, Idaho, North Texas, Southern Miss, Texas State and Western Kentucky.

Hotchkins was a name that was thrown around on the boards quite a bit over the last few months. When the Cougars lost a few linebacker commits in the previous class (Tezino, Moi and Rudinski), some posters, including Fro, who's been singing his praises for some time, thought Hotchkins would be a solid late addition. However, I spoke with the unrated linebacker, who told me he was returning to Riverside C.C. for his sophomore season following an All-American season as a freshman.

The Tigard (Ore.) product originally signed with Wyoming as a member of the 2014 class, but instead decided to go the JUCO route, gambling on his ability to perform at the JUCO level and then landing at a larger school down the road. Grades were also a risk coming out of high school, though they appear to have been improved and his gamble looks to be paying off.

The Cougars have had a lot of success at Riverside lately. They signed Jeremiah Mitchell and Treshon Broughton out of the JUCO powerhouse last cycle and also, at one point, held commitments from DeVante Wilson (Cal) and Jonah Moi (Oregon).
