Am I the only cynic that feels like the Pac-12 might botch this expansion strategy....

Botched in the sense of being irredeemably screwed (like not being able to get 8 at least arguably reasonable programs)? I doubt it.

Disappointing relative to what seemed not just possible, but likely, a few days ago? Yeah, especially if you were on board with going with a national conference that might grow into a legitimate P5 conference someday, although my feelings were mixed on that in various ways.

Really disappointing if we somehow don't get UNLV and instead pay a lot of money to get Utah State? Yes.

Jim Williams, and lots of sources, have said, reported that PAC 6 has offered official invites to Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA, and that those colleges are mulling, deciding if they want to accept the offer, invite, join PAC, etc.

It's also been reported that USF is probably not interested, that Memphis is 50/50 interested, not interested, is taking its time to wait and see if joining PAC worthwhile, and to see if ACC, will fall apart, invite them to join ACC soon. Tulane is interested, and might semi probably join PAC, but is just double checking to see that Joining PAC is worth it. UTSA is very interested, and probably join PAC, very soon.

PAC 6, will probably invite UNLV, if Memphis an or Tulane say no to PAC 6.

If Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, joins PAC 6, the PAC 6 might or might not target UNLV.

IF UNLV, attaches itself to Nevada, then even if PAC 6 would invite UNLV, PAC 6 rightfully won't take UNLV, IF IF UNLV attached to Nevada, and IF IF PAC 6 had to take Nevada the BOTTOM DWELLER, to get UNLV.

If UNLV wants to join PAC 6, they need to not only not attach to Nevada, but make clear to PAC 6, that they not attached to Nevada.

As good as UNLV is, UNLV is not worth taking Nevada, and UNLV, is not as good as Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, Cal(might join PAC if ACC falls apart), SMU(Might join PAC if ACC falls apart).

OK guys, it is realignment crunch time

First, don't freak out. You've never made it past this step.
Second, keep doing what the Pac-12 has been doing- position itself to form the best G5 conference possible or a west coast pod for the ACC or Big XII.
Yes, absolutely.

We skimmed the top-5 programs from the MWC. We can add anyone else for the 8th and we’ll still be the top West Coast conference.

You prove my point. UNLV is staying in the MWC. UNLV to the Pac-12 should have been tee'd up.
I disagree. The P12 was always better off skimming the top of the MWC. They just lost Boise, SDSU, Fresno, Colorado State and Utah State. No matter who we add as the 8th team, we’re assured of having the best West Coast conference.

It’s much better that we hold pat at 8 programs. We have flexibility now. An eventual East/West merger with the AAC seems inevitable.

Oh fer F's sake. Back to the West Coast pod fantasy? That's your plan? Teresa "swung for the fences" and hit a dribbler back to the mound. My scenario is the only viable option at this point, and it is fading fast. Half the remaining MW has apparently signed a new GOR today. Gloria is out-maneuvering us bigtime. Teresa will be begging for a custodial job at MW HQ before the day/week is over.

Oh and the 4 MW traitors are kicking themselves right now. $5 sez they are on the horn to Gloria begging to renege on bolting. And their attorneys are scrutinizing whatever they may have signed with the Pac to see how they can get out of it.

Ok Mr. "MW will always be there for us". What do you suggest now? Oh wait, you have never suggested anything, just talked shit to everyone else. What do you propose for our next step?

Well are you ostriches getting nervous yet? AAC schools have published their intent to stay in the AAC. Can't believe we were stupid enough to offer Memphis and Tulane ahead of UNLV and whoever. If that is indeed the case.

F-this Gonzaga blather. Won't happen, and would only make things worse if it did.

We are left with this: Regardless of what we have committed to the traitorous 4 on exit fees, we now need to offer them, UNLV and whoever else out of AF/Wyoming or USU UNR/SJSU. Commit to paying ALL of their exit fees. All 6 teams. So, $67M in poaching fees, and $102M in exit fees. $169M out of our $250M. The rest will already be spent this year.

Anyone see another path forward? If so, let's hear it.
Well, your pants are full of the brown stuff so that path is taken.
