Hot off the press -Thoughts

Failure to pick up UNLV would be on the all time dumb ass trophy.

In the true la-la land...

WSU
Oregon State
Fresno State
San Diego State
Colorado State
Boise State
UNLV
Utah State
California
Stanford

Nevada
New Mexico

Why not take everyone? Fck it. Invite every BCS, G5 and FCS school. Have an enormous league. Never have to leave the Western US. Never have a lack of games. Find a streaming deal with subs that let’s you keep what you kill. Have a championship game. Have a roster limit so the talent spreads. Add NIL guardrails. Make up fake trophy rivalry games. Then go play well coached football and let the chips fall where they fall.

Stop chasing what doesn’t want to be chased and build what you want to build.

Hot off the press -Thoughts

Although UNLV has their amazing new stadium, they are, both in terms of TV eyeballs and history IRRELEVANT.

UNLV will most likely remain G5.

Also, there’s no guarantee we’re going to receive a Power 5 Status, as well. We’ll eventually have more clarity.
In terms of TV markets and travel destinations, I would like to see UNLV and UTSA added. #24 and #7 markets by population. River Walk and the Strip!

Is it likely that UNLV would grow their TV following if added to a more attractive conference than the one they are currently in?

I wonder if we will truly be west coast only...or if we go east

Tulane, Memphis, Rice (Houston), North Texas (Dallas) all seem like they could be attractive from a media standpoint.

The Mountain West Conference is likely done.
You only go east with bigger schools, if the ACC implodes and you fold in an East Pod.

I'm sorry, but including the teams mentioned creates a MWC 2.0. There's nothing exciting about this.

New Debate thread?

I usually watch Harris Faulkner (yes, on FNC) at 8:00 in the mornings. I think she is the best thing going on cable news channels, and she is beautiful also. So Wednesday morning she had a small focus group on, with 2 Dems, 2 Repubs, and 2 Indies. Also there was poll expert Lee Carter, all to discuss the previous night's debate. Most of the feedback was not a big surprise, about what you might expect from each of the participants. But what WAS a surprise was what Lee Carter shared.

She had done a real time focus group during the debate, where the participants (from the same three groups) had these dials that allowed her to track the reactions of each of the groups as the questions were being answered. Again, there wasn't much to surprise you from D's and R's, as their responses predictably diverged above and below the 0 line depending on the subject. The surprise came in from the Independent group, as their responses tracked almost identically to the Republican response in every instance, whether the response was negative or positive! I never expected a result like that, as one would expect a group of Independents to have differing responses to the two candidates. If that kind of response extrapolates to the global independent voter group then Harris will be in big trouble, as we all know it is the independent voters that will decide the election.

BTW, here is my opinion on who won and who lost on the debate:
  • Harris- Loser, started poorly, too many lies, NEVER answered a question
  • Trump- Loser, unfocused, lost opportunities, fell for KH's traps
  • ABC- Loser, completely biased, conflict of interest with ABC exec and KH
  • Moderators- Losers, either "fact check" and challenge both or neither-not only one side, completely lost any journalistic integrity they might have had
  • You, me, and Pooneil- Losers, worst debate in recent history, and we learned nothing from the poor performances of all involved.
That's All I Have To Say About That*

*For now, anyway :)
I think when a Trumpy like you doesn’t claim victory it’s pretty obvious what the result was. But again, you and your ilk have no chance of getting flipped, Trump could come on stage and throw his feces at the mods and cameras and you’d still support him.

It’s official

Gotta let the dust settle before evaluating this. If we become the West coast branch of an existing conference, this will be a good move. Either way, it's going to buy us time to rebuild with the best of the rest.
Fair. However, considering the biggest West Coast universities are in better conferences, even with all the travel, they're never returning, barring an ACC collapse and a West/East pod merger. That's the only reason Stanford and Cal would ever return with these teams in the fold.

9/11 Survivor Story

Let me ask you a simple, honest question. Why do you keep bashing "right wing sources" and eating up anything and everything that the left/MSM sources keep feeding you when it has been shown so many times that your sources have jumped on board a story with a narrative/agenda that is later proven to be false?
It's pretty simple. Your favorite sources (Brietbart, redstate, The Federalist, etc) are far right-wing "publications" that are 100% against the Democrats or anyone else who smells like a moderate or liberal. They'll say anything, fact or fiction. They are not news outlets. Call CNN left-leaning if you want, but they actually attempt to fairly report the news. They will call out or question Democrats on all kinds of issues. That is a news outlet.

I gotta get over to the FB board. This new news blows me away.....

Yahoo was the original report, and CBS is picking it up from them. So is the Athletic. Ross Dillinger and Wilner seem to be the only two original articles, but it’s starting to go wider. Announcement as soon as tomorrow, apparently.

I don’t see this as a move to join. The Big 12 or ACC. This is preserving the Pac. What I see is positioning to provide a soft landing place for Stanford & Cal if the ACC comes apart. If that doesn’t happen, or doesn’t happen in time, it’ll be easier to pull UNLV and someone else from the reduced MWC.
Failure to pick up UNLV would be on the all time dumb ass trophy.

Growing markets. New alliance.

I think San Diego, Boise, Las Vegas, Fort Collins are all GROWING or at least "attractive" areas.

WSU already has an awesome following and Oregon State isn't too shabby either.

It's going to be GOLDEN if Cal and Stanford are back in the mix.

I'm not against Utah State and New Mexico either.

I wish it would work for Wyoming and Hawaii, but I get it.

Hot off the press -Thoughts

This will be the west coast “division” in the breakup of the ACC to form power conference #5. Big 12 may see a little churn as well, but I imagine there are some handshakes happening with ACC schools in this agreement knowing the eventual fate of that conference.

Gotta wonder if there is any notion of the Big 12 moving the four traitors into a division with the "new" Pac-12.

New Debate thread?

Oh sorry - Reuters interviewed 10 people. Well that calls the election. Maybe they should now poll 10 million Swifties.

And I don't believe you. What was your degree from WSU? Sure as shit wasn't English. It's board, not bored. Not the first time you have misspelled this.

I'm not angry at all. I'm happy as can be. This 9/11 "thread" has nothing to do with anything current or Coug.

I do grow weary of the fact that every single thing you and Stretch post and refer to and link comes from right-wing sources (aka liars). And most of your shit is just stupid "X" crap. Like your latest from Breitbart. If you want discourse, good. But your endless mind-numbing shit has gotten pretty old. Yet here I am, moth to flame...... :(

Pac-12 link

Part of me feels a little bad for the MWC left-behinds who now feel exactly like we did a year ago. But that, unfortunately, is what CFB is now.

I think it’s doubtful we’ll get our CFP representative back. I think that the remaining 2 slots are for Cal & Stanford, if they want them, and for UNLV and a player to be named later if they don’t.
Why would Cal and Stanford want to play with these schools? They didn't want to two years ago. You can argue travel but they are both world-class leading universities. They'll end up in the BIG to form a PAC 8 pod before joining the MWC 2.0.
