Tastiest dog breed thread - poll coming

Are you saying that this CNN (and MSN) report is fake news? Every credible news agency out there is debunking the cat eating stories.
Not exactly.
If you’re truely interested,

Type “Springfield Ohio” into the X search box today to find discussion from OH Gov. , OH AG and many, many residents.

CNN and other Corporate news outlets have a dog 🐕 in the hunt

New Debate thread?

When loyal is spellchecking you after cocktail hour, you probably didn’t make it beyond CC.
I resent and do not resemble your snide remark, which clearly insinuates that I am always drunk in the evenings. Fake News! I have the occasional evening beverage, I need it to wash down whoever's cat or dog I pulled off of the BBQ that night. I think I'll start a poll as to which dog breed tastes better. I lean toward Bassett Hounds personally. Plus they are easier to catch. :)

9/11 Survivor Story

You are incredibly wrong. The first one you accuse me of liking (Breitbart) is a site that I don't recall linking anything to, ever, and I don't think I have even visited it this calendar year. If I did, it was likely because it was from a story listed in realclearpolitics.com, which actually IS one of my top two political sites that I visit. The other top political site I do visit is townhall.com, and they have some very intelligent people with interesting takes on all things political. Are they conservative? Yes they are, but that isn't a crime. And let me point out that going to sites like that is necessary if you wish to find out the other side of a story- the MSM will ALL march in lockstep and they will be selling the narrative that comes directly from the DNC.

I will just say that RCP is the best site out there, as an aggregator they almost always present opposing viewpoints of an issue. Are you brave enough to actually go there and read both sides? I am.

Last note on my "favorite sites".......the only time I have actually been to Foxnews.com in several months is when I click on an interesting sounding story on RCP without noticing that it is from Fox. I hate their web site! And the same goes for the Federalist- I only go there from an interesting link on RCP.com.

BTW, RCP has good polling info, and Real Clear sections on several other subjects like Investigations, Policy, Markets, World, Defense, Energy, Health, etc. Sorry, but no Real Clear sections on Taylor Swift, Hollywood, The View, or the like.
OK, I went over to RCP. Not overly impressed, they are clearly heavily biased. Sorry to mention Breitbart. That said, almost all of your links in posts come from redstate or The Federalist. But no matter. in 55 days we can kiss and make up. :)

I wonder if we will truly be west coast only...or if we go east

You only go east with bigger schools, if the ACC implodes and you fold in an East Pod.

I'm sorry, but including the teams mentioned creates a MWC 2.0. There's nothing exciting about this.
These schools were added for the potential media value, that's it. Fresno and SDSU will bring viewers.

I still wouldn't rule out WSU going to the ACC or Big-12 in the future either. The timing around this is related to the new schools and the timing of the exit fees. (Have to act now).

It’s official

If we could beg Stanford and Cal back, even as football only members and/or to help us broker a wider reaching merger with the WCC for the Olympic sports, I would think that Apple would be interested to some degree, as would CW. 7:00PM PST viewing windows capture good ratings.
I think Stanford and Cal have a better chance of joining the BIG in a PAC8 division before coming back to this MWC 2.0. Cal maaaybeee would return to help cut travel, but Stanford would rather go independent.

It’s official

Agree on the market value point. And as non-conference games, Boise State, Fresno State, and SDSU would be fun teams to play in conjunction with teams like Stanford and Cal and 100+ years of old conference tradition.

I get things change, and this is the reality of this landscape now. I just don't think this conference is going to get viewership numbers or monetary value people are thinking. I can't imagine WSU or OSU got a massive donation today after this news announced. This will just be "some conference."

Peacock

You guys are going to hate on me, but I've got to say it.

For all of those who cut the cord....you did this to yourselves!

For tomorrow's game, we are unable to Record, and Skip the Commercials, because with Peacock, (or any streaming platform), there is no Cloud and DVR storage interface. The advertisers and ad execs must love this process and platform!

When was the last time I watched a game, and literally had to sit through all the commercials?

I personally can't remember the last time I had to sit and watch commercial, (unless I was at a watch party). Brutal.

Thanks for everyone who cut the cord....and I'm sure you're paying almost the same with all your "A La Carte" streaming channels.

Yes, we've had Peacock for several years, but there is no DVR or Cloud. Must watch the game live.

Thanks a million!
You're welcome!

That's all I have to say about that!

Hot off the press -Thoughts

I agree, and I have mentioned this before, College football as we know it will end up with 30,40,60 super teams, whatever the number, WSU won't be part of it. Start another division, scholarship limits, No NIL or with NIL caps, limit the number of transfers, and comp for players that transfer, you can go on and on. You could come up with a league that will be closer to what college football has been, than the one it is about to become with the Super League. I think there would be a lot of fan interest in a league that more resembles college football's past, than what the future is about to bring us, and with fan interest there is still TV money. And these team will still be very competitive and have players go to the NFL. As Saban said, you can spend 20 million on NIL money, but if you have the wrong players you are SOL. And this is what will happen to many teams in the Super League.

It's still too early to start this as there are still about 30 teams that think they are part of the super league, that won't be. Once they recognize that, is the time to come up the new league.

The law says you cannot limit NIL. So there’s that. However…. make the kid choose. Take the scholarship or take the NIL. But if yoi take the NIL $$$ you are also paying your own way. Maybe that helps get around it. As for transfers… no in conference transfers and no bounce backs. You are in or you are out. Cut the rosters to 70 all in. Gives you a 3 deep on both sides of the ball and 4 more to use as you want. I wouldnt rule against having schools of varying academic status, but I would have a bare minimum academic standard to get into the conference. I also wouldn’t care how much or how little schools wanted to invest. If you wanna be a slumlord and spend $0 and lose all your games…. your choice. But the streaming deal would have a subs element. You get a base $$$ but anything above is on you.

Calling Meister Rebel

Appreciated your input over the past year. Like to hear from the Rebel folks, thought they'd be part of the deal and still might be, heard rumors they were offered, so you know what's up?
I read that UNLV tried to make them and Nevada a package deal and the PAC12 said no and went with someone else. I personally think it had to do with the buyout at this time. $41 million for 4 MWC teams vs $63 million for 6 teams is a big difference.

New Debate thread?

I think when a Trumpy like you doesn’t claim victory it’s pretty obvious what the result was. But again, you and your ilk have no chance of getting flipped, Trump could come on stage and throw his feces at the mods and cameras and you’d still support him.
You are correct, it was obvious what the result was and I NAILED IT with my list.

Of course, an ILK like you must go along with the MSM false narrative that Harris won, because she must be supported at all costs, no dissent allowed. All that in spite of the facts that she lied dozens of times, failed to provide a single useful bit of information about what she would do to help the nation, failed to actually provide an answer to a single question she was actually asked. If the debate was a championship prize fight, she would be the fighter that spent all 12 rounds dancing and running away from the opponent, feinting with jabs, and never throwing a punch that landed. And you would call that a win. LOL

It’s official

It's too bad everything is so wrapped up into market value, because the teams we just added all excite me more than Stanford and Cal. Over the past 5 years, how many times would they have beaten Boise State, Fresno, and SDSU?

Fair. However, considering the biggest West Coast universities are in better conferences, even with all the travel, they're never returning, barring an ACC collapse and a West/East pod merger. That's the only reason Stanford and Cal would ever return with these teams in the fold.

9/11 Survivor Story

It's pretty simple. Your favorite sources (Brietbart, redstate, The Federalist, etc) are far right-wing "publications" that are 100% against the Democrats or anyone else who smells like a moderate or liberal. They'll say anything, fact or fiction. They are not news outlets. Call CNN left-leaning if you want, but they actually attempt to fairly report the news. They will call out or question Democrats on all kinds of issues. That is a news outlet.

I gotta get over to the FB board. This new news blows me away.....

So the West Coast board is going nuts - thread was up to 27 pages a few minutes ago. UNLV board is in shock as am I.

On both sites there has been mention that the Pac-2 is going to pay the exit fees for the 4 schools. The poaching fee is a given. Wonder where they are getting that info/rumor from?

You can actually blame the Mariners, who due to their superiority complex wouldn't move their game time to accommodate and therefore it couldn't be picked up on the networks window, so was slotted to Peacock.

That said, the fact this game is being played is stupid. I'll bang that drum until the end of time.

Why not take everyone? Fck it. Invite every BCS, G5 and FCS school. Have an enormous league. Never have to leave the Western US. Never have a lack of games. Find a streaming deal with subs that let’s you keep what you kill. Have a championship game. Have a roster limit so the talent spreads. Add NIL guardrails. Make up fake trophy rivalry games. Then go play well coached football and let the chips fall where they fall.

Stop chasing what doesn’t want to be chased and build what you want to build.

Absolutely zero chance that we will get P5 status restored (recall that it was stripped earlier this year). Two schools downgraded to G5 (basically) add 4 and soon to be 6 G5 schools, so that elevates them to P5 stature? Hey I'd love to be wrong and eat crow on this.

That said, I'm very much in shock (not good or bad, just shock) over this development. I guess Teresa keeps her job.

Not really opposed to that idea, but I'd guess there's something about expenses to where the insurance policies (and the like) along with traveling make it so there's not enough coming in to make it doable.

If there was ZERO to worry about on the money side... get Hawaii

I guess now we know why the scheduling agreement with the MW went sideways.
Wilner’s article doesn’t mention P-5 status will be retained in this new arrangement.

Is P-5 status assured? Any rumors as to what Media rights deal might look like?
