CW?

Anyone know anything about CW sports? Their website said to just download the app on my Samsung TV, but I did that…and there’s not even a listing for sports.
CBS and Warner Bros. merger some time ago. Known as The CW.

For Phoenix greater metro, (Scottsdale)....Dish Channel 07 KAZT.....
What's interesting is you don't need an OTA antenna. If you have DISH, you'll get CW Sports. Not sure about DirecTV, Comcast, Cox, Spectrum, etc, etc.

DISH has a Gamefinder channel, so it was easy to find the channel. Bing it, I mean Google it.🌵

WSU football: 3 keys — and 3 new names to know — for Cougars in 2024

Pretty much everything is new for the Cougars in 2024, including their conference, quarterback and the bulk of their roster. Here are keys for WSU’s success and three new names to know.

Three keys to the season

Run the football effectively

The lack of success running the football is arguably the biggest reason the Cougars had a losing season last year. They averaged just 3.0 yards per rush (341 carries for 1,374 yards) while their opponents rushed for 2,082 yards and averaged 4.3 yards per rush. When defenses stopped respecting WSU’s running game it made things much tougher for quarterback Cam Ward because there were more defenders dropping back into coverage. The Cougars have four players back who started on the offensive line last season. That experience is obviously good, but that unit, and the running backs, need to be better.

Solid play at quarterback

The Cougars needed to replace two-year starting quarterback Ward, who transferred to Miami after two up-and-down seasons in Pullman. John Mateer, who showed his ability to run last year while playing in 11 games, will open the season as the starter. Mateer has thrown just 19 passes at WSU, but he is confident that he is ready, and the Cougars will need him to be because much of their success will depend on how their quarterback plays. If Mateer gets hurt or doesn’t perform, Zevi Eckhaus, a three-year star at FCS Bryant, will get his chance.

Finish, finish, finish

The Cougars lost four games (California, Stanford, Washington and UCLA) in which they had a chance to take the lead or tie the score in the final minutes but could not do it. If they had won just two of those games, it would have left a completely different feeling to the season. There will undoubtedly be close games this season for the Cougars, and they will need to do a better job of coming through in the closing minutes.

Three newcomers to watch

Edge rusher Syrus Webster

The Cougars lost two of their best players, and team leaders, with the graduation of sixth-year senior edge rushers Brennan Jackson and Ron Stone Jr. They will be tough to replace, and WSU coach Jake Dickert said it will be done by committee. A prominent player in the rotation figures to be Webster, who spent the past three seasons at Utah Tech and is the school’s career sacks leader with 14.5. Last season, Webster had seven sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. Anything close to those numbers this season from Webster, 6 feet 4 and 254 pounds, would be a huge boost to the WSU defense.

Receiver Kris Hutson

Hutson was one of Oregon’s top receivers in 2021 and 2022 but had just one catch last season and transferred to Washington State. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Hutson caught 31 passes for 419 yards, ranking second among Ducks in receiving yards and third in receptions. He improved on those numbers in 2022 with 44 catches (second on the team) for 472 yards. He also returned punts and kickoffs for the Ducks. If he can display the promise he showed at Oregon, he could be a nice addition to the receivers group, which is led by Kyle Williams.

Quarterback Zevi Eckhaus

How important Eckhaus, 6 feet and 200 pounds, will be this season will depend on the health and the level of play of Mateer, who was named WSU’s starting quarterback after battling with Eckhaus during the spring and the start of fall camp. If Eckhaus needs to be called upon, he has a wealth of experience to rely on. He threw for 10,215 yards and 137 touchdowns at Culver City High School outside Los Angeles and became the school’s career passing leader. He then played three seasons at FCS Bryant in Providence, R.I., throwing for 8,527 yards and 76 touchdowns. Expect Eckhaus to be ready if he gets a chance to play.

I have high hopes for the Cougs. Mateer will shine IMHO. PSU will be a good indicator. We should wipe up the turf with them. Then comes the tough stretch.

Worst CFB coaches

Every best/worst list is mostly arbitrary. Best place to live/school to attend/car to drive/etc., and the corresponding worst list. Putting Price on a list like this is absurd. The list must have been generated by the uninformed. Another example of brains and knowledge not being required to publish something on the internet.
Now if you are going to make fun of Uber do it over on the Beasley thread. Everyone, including Whitman County, mocks him mercilessly over there. This board is full of civility, Hope, Joy and occasional Coug talk. :)

Tastiest dog breed thread - poll coming

Kamla's parents were immigrants. So what? Everyone in this country is an immigrant except Native Americans.
Her parents were divorced when she was 8. She was raised by her mother.
Her father retired as a Professor Emeritus at Stanford.
Her parents were highly educated. Is that a bad thing?
So what if she got help in her career from a boyfriend - 30 years ago.
That's all I have for now.
Don’t tell me. Not my claims.

I can’t wait for community notes to prove this guy wrong point by point.

Edit - Kamala passed the bar on her 2nd try. First time Bar passing rates hover around 60%. Took me three tries to pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam. 2 the first try, 1 the second try, last one the third try. So what?

Sounds like Trumps bio coming into 2016.

So what I got out if it a liberal leftist who is extremely tough on crime.

Also, black people dont want their kids educated except to minority immigrant parents who one happened to be black.

Three , the black experience is determined by a white guy and he determines what the black experience is.

And four , Harris has no chance because she really isnt black, she is too tough on crime .

The Cougs kickoff their 2024 football season on Saturday

No talk about the upcoming season on the board? Sounds like many would rather be on Gilligan's Island.

Any thoughts, predictions on the upcoming season? For me there are so many unknowns, weird schedule, not sure what to expect from this team, the QB situation could be shaky at best. I fear a long season.

Cougs are 6-0 in my College Football 25 version of fake football. Overall, I've been able to run more effectively than I would expect but Christian Hilborn can't hold a block to save his soul. Interesting to note that apparently WSU coaches agree since he is not the starter on this weeks depth chart.

If you haven't looked the updated depth chart, our offensive line has good size this year. The starters average 309 lbs and the right guard position is the only one that's a bit undersized with Dieu at 288 lbs.

As far as schedule goes, this year has the potential to be the easiest schedule that WSU has likely ever faced. Texas Tech is picked 9th in the Big 12 and UW was picked 10th in the Big 10 media poll. Portland State, SJSU, Hawaii, SDSU, Utah State and New Mexico are all down right now and any self-respecting team would go 6-0 against that group of teams. Boise State and Fresno State have given us fits in the past, but neither was great last year. Wyoming had a good record last year but they played five games against teams ranked below 100 in most power rankings and only two games against Top 50 teams. Massey projects WSU to finish 9-3 with only three games against Top 50 opponents. If Tech and UW are as bad as their respective conference media folks think, our toughest game is going to be against OSU.

When you look at the Oregon State depth chart, almost half of the offense is new including their top 3 running backs, QB, two OL and a wide receiver. They have six freshmen in their defensive two deep. We have three new wide receivers and obviously Mateer is an unknown, but the Beavers have a lot more uncertainty than we do.

It would not be all that surprising for WSU to run the table this year and make the CFP. It won't happen and we would get obliterated if we qualified....but it could happen.
