Chamberlain had that sort of thinking. Ultimately, when you start thinking you have the right to divvy up other people's futures, the slippery slope becomes utterly frictionless. Best to stay away from that approach.

If he truly sucked at it, he wouldn't have gotten Canada to beef up border security. Or Mexico to do that also. Or El Salvador to take the MS 13 charity workers into their supermax prison. Or at least get Putin and Zelensky talking about a cease fire and a path to peace. Or been able to get several hostages returned home. Or get some NATO countries to get their defense spending pushed up closer to what they are obligated to.

FWIW, the Canada border security package was put forth when Biden was President and finalized under Trump. Would they have waffled and not finished it without Trump's threats? Who knows....
When it comes to Putin, Trump doesn't even realize that he is the victim of masterclass negotiating by Putin. Russia is giving up nothing and getting Trump to force Zelensky into concessions. If Putin was a car salesman....Trump is definitely paying for that undercoating.
I'm glad that Trump was able to force NATO to up their spending....but it's too bad that he's such an asshole that he can't just go home with a win....he's gotta try to push for more all the time.
So...Trump is hit or miss at negotiating but he's undeniably great at demanding approval when he thinks he might have had any influence on anything....real or perceived.

If anything has been handed to Putin it was Biden, who simply muttered "Don't" a couple times instead of mustering all the European allies into massing at the border and stopping Putin from ever crossing into Ukraine in the first place.

I mean to be fair Ol Joe was pretty incoherent at the end. But any reasonable person who has watched and listened to this nonsense and has also watched weekend at Bernie’s can come to a reasonable conclusion that a dead guy would make a better leader.
He's already gotten Zelensky to agree to negotiate giving up territory in exchange for peace (although Putin laughed and wanted more). He got Ukraine to stop hitting Russian fuel depots while Russia is not honoring their end of the bargain. He got Zelensky to offer to resign in exchange for a peace that wasn't coming. Trump allowed Ukrainians to get killed more easily by withholding intel from them so Russia could hit them while they were blinded. Rubio has already said that Ukraine joining NATO was not going to happen. Trump has weakened the NATO alliance because he's a petty little dictator that craves adoration and Europe wasn't giving him enough accolades.
So yeah.....Trump has been very helpful to Putin. Of course, you can always yell, "But.....Biden!" as your defense. Maybe blame Hillary while you are at it....or maybe it was Hunter Biden's laptop. It's hard to keep track of MAGA's worthless f#cking excuses for how "The Great Negotiator" is failing to get anything meaningful done in Ukraine.
