Hot off the press -Thoughts

I agree, and I have mentioned this before, College football as we know it will end up with 30,40,60 super teams, whatever the number, WSU won't be part of it. Start another division, scholarship limits, No NIL or with NIL caps, limit the number of transfers, and comp for players that transfer, you can go on and on. You could come up with a league that will be closer to what college football has been, than the one it is about to become with the Super League. I think there would be a lot of fan interest in a league that more resembles college football's past, than what the future is about to bring us, and with fan interest there is still TV money. And these team will still be very competitive and have players go to the NFL. As Saban said, you can spend 20 million on NIL money, but if you have the wrong players you are SOL. And this is what will happen to many teams in the Super League.

It's still too early to start this as there are still about 30 teams that think they are part of the super league, that won't be. Once they recognize that, is the time to come up the new league.
This isn't speculation - the B1G and SEC have openly talked about doing this within the next 5 years; its going to happen. All of the lower tier P4 schools are going to be left with their d!ck in their hands waiting for the scraps to fall from the adult table of their former conference members.

The bottom halves of the B1G, SEC and the majority of the ACC and B12 should be making plans to do their own thing. Take a long hard look in the mirror and realize that you aren't going to be invited to the adult table and move forward. Align with all the other rejects to not take bodybag games from the NFL lite and do your completely own thing.

Calling Meister Rebel

I read that UNLV tried to make them and Nevada a package deal and the PAC12 said no and went with someone else. I personally think it had to do with the buyout at this time. $41 million for 4 MWC teams vs $63 million for 6 teams is a big difference.

Plus No Way the PAC takes a bottom feeder like a Hawai, Nevada, New Mexico, just to get a team like UNLV, if the PAC 8 would take a bottom feeder, the PAC 8 would have done a reverse merger of whole entire MWC, taken Hawai, Nevada, New Mexico as bottom feeders.

Hot off the press -Thoughts

Absolutely zero chance that we will get P5 status restored (recall that it was stripped earlier this year). Two schools downgraded to G5 (basically) add 4 and soon to be 6 G5 schools, so that elevates them to P5 stature? Hey I'd love to be wrong and eat crow on this.

That said, I'm very much in shock (not good or bad, just shock) over this development. I guess Teresa keeps her job.

If PAC takes specifically the best of the best borderline, hybrid G5, P5 colleges, like specifically BSU, SDSU, Fresno St, Memphis, Tulane, that would be good enough to make the PAC 8 a HYBRID G5, P5 ish conference, and that specific type, kind of conference could get the weakest P5 status back by 2028, the date that the CFP evaluates, downgrades, upgrades conferences P5, G5 status, and what they eligible for, from CFP.

BSU, SDSU, Fresno St, Memphis, Tulane, are good enough, worthy enough, have enough value, etc, NOW to be worthy of joining a P4, P5 conference, like a Big 12, ACC, A HYBRID G5, P5, PAC 8 of BSU, SDSU, Fresno St, Memphis, WSU, OSU, CSU.

I guess now we know why the scheduling agreement with the MW went sideways.
Wilner’s article doesn’t mention P-5 status will be retained in this new arrangement.

Is P-5 status assured? Any rumors as to what Media rights deal might look like?
Well, considering the pundits are already throwing around "P4" as a term, I'm guessing that die is cast and no matter what the P2 does they won't get their "P" status back. And honestly, until the revenue of the included programs reaches a level commensurate of a "power" moniker they shouldn't get that status back.

Sky isn’t falling

Waiting around is what got us Fcked last time and frankly I'm a little galled at how many Cougar fans are down on this deal. If you couldn't see the writing on the wall that the P2 were going to get fcked AGAIN, then I really can't help you.

This is the kid who waits and waits and waits to ask the prettiest girl to dance and never gets the balls to do so and ends up missing out, instead of asking any one of the dozen of pretty girls that want to dance and hell, might even play with their ding-dong.

This was not my #1 option for the conference, but these are good teams we've got coming in. They have good fan bases and good school support. Its now up to the conference to leverage that into a TV deal that will bring the level of the programs in line with the mid tier P4 schools.

Just heard that we offered UNLV, but they insisted on being a package deal with Nevada. We said no because that would drop the MWC below 8 teams.

If true, I'm glad that we took the high road and left the MWC intact.

I'm glad that PAC said no to Nevada as a packaged deal, as Nevada is not good enough to Join PAC. UNLV is good enough to join PAC, but the PAC isn't going to take the bottom feeders, just so that the PAC can take a semi top team like UNLV.

I'm glad that didn't reduce MWC to below 8. That suggest that probably going to go after Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, Liberty(12-0(MAAC or Sun Belt), North Texas(Sun Belt or MAAC), Texas St(Sun Belt or MAAC), NDSU, as list of possible last 2 to join PAC.

MWC will probably try to get Memphis, Tulane, Liberty, James Madison, NDSU, South Dakotah St, Sac St, EWU, 1,2 from each of MAAC, Sun Belt, AAC, WAC, Big West, FCS, etc.

I do not think MWC will merge with AAC, and don't think the AAC would merge with MWC.

MWC might merge with either Sun Belt, MAAC, WAC, Big West.

If the AAC, Sun Belt, MAAC, WAC, Big West is raided by either MWC, AAC, PAC, then they would raid, MWC, AAC, Sun Belt, MAAC, WAC, Big West, FCS, etc.

NDSU, South Dakotah, Sac St, EWU, Montana, Idaho, are probably candidates to get called up from FCS, go to WAC, Big West, Sun Belt, MAAC, etc.

That's how I see G5 realignment, expansion, etc, shaking out.

Rumor is UNLV was offered but declined because they want Nevada-Reno to come and were told no.
Good article below that mentions this in passing. Of course there was no hurdle for the NW traitors when they jumped....

Hot off the press -Thoughts

There’s rumors a MWC school declined?

My guess is the 4 schools were targeted as best brands and were given the best terms. If more MWC come in they’ll have to pony up more $$ then the first 4.
Your post makes no sense. The Pac-2 has to pony up the poaching fee amount of $10M+ per school per our scheduling agreement. Departing MW conference schools have to pay the MW $17M each. The only "pony up" that could possibly exist is if the Pac promised to pay some or all of the exit fees for the first 4, then would lower that promise to future MW schools. However, I have yet to hear anything about the Pac contributing to exit fees.

Hot off the press -Thoughts

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that UNLV is playing the long game. It might be them who declined. Everything about future realignment is tied to market and market size. Las Vegas is the crown jewel of corporate greed.

At some point, one of the emerging super conferences is going to bring UNLV on board. Can you imagine Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, etc. playing in Las Vegas? I can. I know how those fan bases travel.

I can’t be negative of this path. I understand wanting to be in a “power conference”, but the pressure was to either bid us down to 1/2 shares or in the case of the ACC, wait for implosion and then have WSU and OSU apply along with many of the schools we just picked up in a downward bidding war. This gave us the option to go in handcuffed as the bitch across the country or try and make something out of our unique situation.

Taking the four we did now secures a handful of the biggest markets available along with highly competitive programs with the option to chase others. This conference will be the group that plays the highest level of football that plays most/all games weekly in the western footprint. Now they have the freedom to add Stan and Cal if they return. UNLV if they decouple from UNR. They can also go secure UTSA with its blooming medical campus and growing football program. TX St is there as well. Tulane in Nola market.

Instead of waiting around we are now in the driver seat and can build something without being seen as the last opinion and littlest member. And whatever is made of this conference, it now exists as an option for a western pod for any conference trying to build or expand one. In the current landscape of relegation and future conference implosions, this is giving us the chance to build something decent as we see fit instead of being a whipping boy for an eastern conference. It’s not perfect but it’s better than taking it up the *ss a signing away our ability to be a full member 2000 miles away in many respects.

New Debate thread?

I resent and do not resemble your snide remark, which clearly insinuates that I am always drunk in the evenings. Fake News! I have the occasional evening beverage, I need it to wash down whoever's cat or dog I pulled off of the BBQ that night. I think I'll start a poll as to which dog breed tastes better. I lean toward Bassett Hounds personally. Plus they are easier to catch. :)
I am shocked! I didn't realize you were Haitian.......

OK, I went over to RCP. Not overly impressed, they are clearly heavily biased. Sorry to mention Breitbart. That said, almost all of your links in posts come from redstate or The Federalist. But no matter. in 55 days we can kiss and make up. :)

It looks to me that about 13 out of 28 articles linked are from MSM/left leaning sources. How does that equate to heavily biased? I only see 8 articles that are clearly right leaning sources, several that I don't know what they are.

It appears to me that you are blinded by TDS, so angry at Trump that you have lost all objectivity about anything that doesn't bash the Orange Man Bad.

Hmmmm, you didn't mean that RCP politics was heavily biased by meaning that they lean way left, did you? After all, 13 to 8 is pretty out of balance!
