I'm about done with this, but I'll ask one last thing. When do you think the ACC might collapse?

The ACC is not going to collapse.

I'll give you a couple of points to consider.

ESPN has a lot at stake with the ACC and will move when necessary to protect their financial interests.

The ACC Network launched Aug. 22, 2019. The network profits are split 50/50 between ESPN and the ACC.

In 2022-23 academic year for which data is available the league made $481.7 million from its television rights.

This year the ACCN will receive carriage rates from cable and satellite companies in Northern California with the addition of Stanford and Cal and the Dallas Texas market with the addition of SMU.

The Nielsen TV Market ranking for San Fran and Palo Alto area is #10 and #5 for the Dallas Market.

Additionally, the ACC total sports content/distribution is 100% with ESPN. If the ACC collapsed ESPN would have a BIG HOLE in their sports programming.

At this point in time we are hearing from everyone else but ESPN.

Don't know if WSU/OSU could become a member of the ACC with a western pod with CAL and Standford but ESPN will be part of the discussion.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

As usual, they don't rank professionals

The joke on this list is USC. As the real estate agents always say, "location, location, location". In SC's case the foreign student population also alters the culture of the overall student body; they rake in a lot of money by swelling the foreign student population.

UCLA is a pretty reserved party school. Outside of the frats the school is almost dead on a weekend. Sure, they party. But to be on this list? And ranking Oklahoma ahead of Oklahoma State defies logic.

Santa Barbara is legit. It is closer to WSU of the late 70's than any other school that I've visited, with all the attendant issues that goes with that.

As usual, they don't rank professionals

Have you been to Pullman on a typical Friday or Saturday recently?

The mighty have fallen. The alumni still know how to party. The students don’t.

The LV Review article gives me some hope again for the merger. At this point the main reasons for still wanting a reverse merger are, in no particular order:
  • Keeping our future NCAA basketball allocations (~$30M for the Pac-2 in FY 2026 and beyond)
  • Allowing for a rewritten set of bylaws that IMHO would benefit the MW schools if done correctly. Reduce exit fees and eliminate the BSU premium for starters
  • Add a litle cachet to the conference. This one is debatable, but I stand firm on the notion that the Alaska Air PacMtn Conference would come off as an elevation in profile for the MW, and some semblance of face-saving for the Pac-2
  • If we could pull it off and make it effective for FY2025, the Pac-2 would keep their BB allocations, the MW schools would keep all of theirs (however that would be split up, assumably pro-rata as they currently stand. Pac-2 and MW schools keep whatever other cash, etc. exists. Now if the Pac-2 were to join another conference (none of whom want us) as of FY 2025, our final Rose Bowl $50M and CFP monies (a few $M?) would probably go away. So it's reverse merge as of FY 2025 or wait until FY 2026
  • Finally, we currently cannot win a league championship in FB, and get -0- BB allocations from the WCC aka HS gym league. An FY 2025 reverse merger fixes both for next year. And eliminates the $10M plus $1M affiliation payments and allows us to share in whatever TV revenues are out there.
Teresa will be out of a job come FY 2026 no matter what happens. Again, in my humble but All-knowing and All-seeing opinion, it seems like her best bet is to lobby for her old job back under new Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. Part of my magical and almost mystical vision is, as stated only a few dozen times, is to shutter the Pac-2 offices and move the merged conference HQ to Colorado Springs under Gloria's leadership.

Such a win-win for all involved. That said, if the Pac-2 continues to F- around, our only option will soon be to, hat in hand, come begging for the Mtn West to take us in as of FY2026. The $30M out the window becomes less of an issue at that point.
Move HQ to Vegas.

Ryan Leaf suggests pulling the plug on the ESPN GameDay flag

If this was the first year that we started waving the flag on Game Day, I would agree; but it's not. It's a longstanding tradition.

I have a better analogy than yours. My ex-wife and I used to go to Hawaii or San Diego together every year for the 15 years we were together. When our divorce was final, I took a new girl with me to Hawaii and it was a blast.

Flying the flag this year doesn't send any meaningful message other than, "FU, we're still here."
This right here is the biggest reason to continue.

Sure, the flag is good for visibility. Is it really meaningful beyond our fan base? Not really. But isn’t our own fan base the real reason it’s continued this long anyway?

Wouldn’t surprise me if the ESPN powers pull any support or assistance for us to get the flag center stage, but for as long as we can get it there, we should continue…just to be a pain in the ass.

Just please, try to position it so our flag isn’t in picture with McAfee.

Actually Kennedy is wrong....the time period MAGA is talking about is the 50's. Booming economy, middle class growing. Out of WW2 (or the first world war to Trump's knowledge), limited war in Korea...then the meat and potato's of the grievances...you can figure it out. BTW....tax rate on the wealthiest 49% and they were doing just fine, and not pissing and moaning about "their money".
Actually it was 91% on mfj over 400k, or single over 200k.

You mean 2 decorated retired Generals hate Trump because he disparages our veterans, mocks wounded veterans and doesn't want them around him, and calls wounded and dead soldiers suckers and losers. Trust me, you are going to see a shitload of ads and speeches on these topics in the next couple of months. So get used to it.

And his mocking of war hero John McCain, revered in Arizona, will be prominent in that and other states. Lots of ammunition.
Sad part that treatment of war veterans and people who suffer disabilities is ok with 46% of the people who vote...

Well what happens when Trump either leaves office or dies? He is the only person that can make america great again, and inflation lowest of the largest economies right now, high stock market, low unemployment, violent crime going down. I guess I am wondering what he will do when things don't go his way, like the last pandemic. He knew what was coming to America, and for his own self interests, it was one or two cases, and then he will reopen the economy on the day Jesus rose. He would have won 2020 if he didn't lie about the most important thing to happen to our country in years.
The stupid thing about MAGA is it’s just a recycled message from every presidential challenger to an incumbent (in this case party). “America has been shitty the last four or eight years with (insert name/party) in office. We’re gonna make it better!”
