That's not what I said. At all. Inferred maybe. Question is, can the long-hiding moderate R's stand up against the right wing freaks (Boebert, Hawley, MTG, Gosar, the state of Texas, etc.) and do the right thing or not.

I look at what I consider the major issues, in no particular order:
  • Border - I'm fine with a crackdown. Sometimes the pendulum needs to swing the other way to achieve equilibrium. Little-known fact is that a lot of naturalized Hispanics don't like illegal migrant Mexicans. Probably was a factor
  • Financial - as Gibby mentioned, my retirement accounts are smiling today. But I worry long term and worry about SS and Medicare (not old enough for that yet). Parents lost a shit ton of retirement in the crash of 1987 and it never really recovered
  • Ukraine. N. Korea, Russia, Iran, Palestine, NATO, etc. - probably my biggest fear is international affairs. I'm frankly a little scared about what Trump may do. Or not do. He talks big. Perhaps being perceived as deranged might work to our advantage on the world stage
  • China and tariffs - frankly I'm sort of for this. I'm sick of going to the store and seeing "Made in China" garbage all over the place. Little $10 plastic kiddy toys - we don't need that shit on our shelves. I don't buy much other than food, beer and necessities, so it won't hit me much. Can't say I'm optimistic here, cautiously curious maybe.....
  • Women's rights - F- it ladies, you are screwed if you live in a Red state. And you can blame yourselves
  • Transgender shit - I'm all in on getting rid of this shit. NO men playing women's sports, period. No men in women's bathrooms. No sex-change operations for inmates (that Trump ad with Kamala supporting inmate sex change was probably the single most effective piece of the campaign)
  • More tax breaks for billionaires - it's coming, look for it
  • Reign of retribution - it will take a lot of effort from the R's to control this, and I don't think they will. The thought of who Trump will fill his cabinet with scares the shit out of me. With control of the White House and both chambers, the R's are going to be able to do whatever the hell they want. And they will. It could and probably will be a very long 2 years before voters get a chance to rebalance things
That's all.
What concerns me more than all of those things is if RFK really ends up at the head of HHS. The man is a loon, and he’s already put out his plans to end vaccination programs and fluoridation of drinking water. Prepare for the return of measles & polio, and the rise of children’s denturists.

Election Day

I did want to say that I 100% agree with you that Democrats are idiots. They got so caught up in trying to fix issues for fringe groups that they pissed off the majority of the country. I'm not surprised that Trump won because the Democrats made it easy to generate headlines that people would love to hate.

As far as the future goes? It's a bit early to declare GOP domination given that 4 years ago Donald Trump was supposed to have been swept into the dustbin of history. A$$holes like JD Vance are not going to be winning national elections. There's a reason that the GOP is too chickenshit to walk away from Trump. Anyone else trying his bullshit would be in prison. But hey, you gotta respect that Trump knows how to push buttons and do whatever the f#ck he wants. It's impressive.
Not an unhinged emotional rant. Nope. Not at all.

😡 rage on Bro!

Ukraine shouldn't exist if it can't do so by it's own volition. We are not the world's police. The world is pretty clear about not wanting us to be the world's police (see: Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc.). So the only thing I can suggest to those of you who are pro-Ukraine is to actually go over there on your own and help out. I did my time with that sort of thing, I'm out. No more warhawks, no more Neocons.
the republicans have shoved pro military, pro nationalism bullshit down our throats since 9/11. every major holiday and every sporting event we have is now co-opted by military propaganda bullshit pushed by the right.

piss off with this nonsense.

Rage on? Deliriously upset? For f#ck's sake.....where did you learn how to read? I will never support Trump....but as I said....this shit doesn't impact me. I don't like that my grocery bill jumped $100 a month (or whatever) a couple years ago but that had no impact on my discretionary income so no....I didn't get my panties in a bunch about it. My wife just spent $11k to take my daughter to see Taylor Swift in Indianapolis last weekend....and there were 70,000 other people there, most of them paying an egregious amount to be there and that was just one of many stops. So for all the talk about "INFLATION!", it sure seems like a lot of people can afford to piss away a lot of money.

But assume that I'm raging on and deliriously upset all you want. You f#ckers lie relentlessly so why stop now? And seriously, a poster calling themselves "TrumpCoug" is the most pathetic f#cking thing that I've seen on this board and we all know the pathetic shitshow that this place can be. I'm not mad at him though......I'm embarrassed for him and WSU.
You’ve never nor will you ever meet Trumpcoug. Why do allow him to hold so much emotional leverage over you?

Seems silly and counterproductive

Election Day

I'm an independent, and any democrat mad at the results should pissed at their party. They flat out blew it. And you could see it coming. They choose to dig their heels in and didn't want to change their tune. Their messaging and campaign was botched. Biden should have been pushed out earlier. Harris wasn't the Biden replacement answer....she had low ratings at a VP...was she going to be more favorable as President.

Again, this is 100% on the terrible democrat messaging and policies. If they don't change to more moderate, common sense policies, they will lose badly again.
This was 12 years in the making. The democrats have had the same tired old candidates since Obama’s term ended. Clinton, Biden, and Sanders are yesterday’s news, and they still don’t have another interesting candidate to press forward with. Kamala was just the same old thing in a younger package.
The republicans are clearly looking ahead, and Vance looks like their likely candidate in 2028. More importantly, they’ve consolidated positions and are staking positions. The democrats are disorganized, don’t have a leader, and they’re getting older. Republicans have a platform, a leader, and now a young candidate.

If they don’t pull their heads out and start moving with the times, the Dems won’t see the inside of the oval for another generation.

I was traveling yesterday so missed some of the details, but is it true 15M less votes were counted? Seems a little odd. Will you election fraud and rigged election experts take a peek into that? I’m sure you’re very concerned. Thanks!
2020 was a big year for turnout, so this isn't weird. Harris will get about 10 million less than Biden, and Trump will get about the same as what he got in 2020.

I don’t know what the numbers were, but there was talk about reduced turnout. Sound like lots of people didn’t have a strong preference, so didn’t vote. Also sounds like there were a fair number who didn’t vote for president, but voted down ballot races.

3. I have seen a rather smart businessman, Kevin O'Leary (otherwise known as Mr Wonderfull from Shark Tank), say that the US needs to put 100% tariffs on China to punish them for their unfair business practices and theft of intellectual property. He wants to bring them to their knees. So, is that a wise thing to do or a horrible idea? What should Trump do?
But we won't be able to continue to consume as much disposable crap from AliExpress and Temu! And if I'm not consuming, I'm not going into more debt. Sounds like a BAD PLAN.

We absolutely must not put tariffs on foreign made goods from countries who actively dislike us. That is wrong-think.

Odds we go 11-1?

Based on the near misses we’ve played so far this year (SJ, Fresno, SD) it’s going to be tough getting through these last 4 unscathed. OSU on the road seems like the biggest hurdle to me
The Beavs have really looked messed up. Even though they lost personnel, I really though they would be the one's to go 10-2/11-1. Missed that prediction by a mile.

I could see us losing on the road to them, but it wouldn't be a heartbreaker to me. Messed up season, messed up conference, messed up results. If one had told me we'd be 10-2 after all this crap (and with our modest history of success), I'd be like "Hell ya'!" Still want to go down to Potato Salad Stadium and crush them, but I'm not going to rope myself if we don't. They're our bro's now, never any illwell to them.

Yeah SDS and FS could have both been losses easily along with SJS at home. I’d give us a 15% chance at 11-1, it’s likely an unsuspecting foe trips us up with 4 games left. And I don’t think we are head and shoulders more talented than OSU. They will be highly motivated that’s a toss up on the road.

Replying to myself here. How about you all stop with the insults and intelligently opine on the major issues facing America? I have listed and opined on many of them (above). Yet I meander through 3 threads of insults and BS and don't see a lot of intelligent discourse. Note that I am OK with a border crackdown, dispensing with this transgender rights shit and grudgingly sort of support the tariffs. And worry about the international scene. Would be happy to hear what you Trumpers think should and will happen. Absent of personal insults perhaps?
Tariffs, oh what do we do about tariffs? Some say they are great for America, some say it will ruin us and make everything way more expensive. I will say right up front I am not an expert on them, and will not argue either for or against them here. But I will just point out some things I have heard about them.

1. I have heard that Trump put some tariffs on China in his first term. Although the left is screaming about tariffs now, I think they left Trumps tariffs in place and actually added some more. Is that all true?
2. Saw a business guy state that Europe has a 100% tariff on US cars sold there, and we have like a 15% tariff on their cars. Is that true, if so why are we letting them get away with that?

Just going to say that with the election the media has been ignoring Ukraine. Ukraine is in big trouble, Russia is grinding them up. The failed offensive last summer was a disaster they can't recover from. The average age of a Ukrainian solider is over 40.

Even if Ukraine can cut a favorable peace deal, there are two generations of Ukrainians that are dead or maimed. The infrastructure is wrecked. Ukraine will have the choice of totally collapsing or indebting itself to a western banking syndicate forever.
Ukraine isn't going to exist by February 1.

Election Day

I don't know that there was a viable alternative other than Harris. Newsom, Whitmer or whoever played it smart by passing and focusing on 2028, IMO.
Newsome just ate a poopy sandwich inre Proposition 36. He was highly vocal about how bad it was and yet it's passing with 70% of the vote (heavy bipartisan in a blue state). He's going to have to pivot hard between now and 2028 on that issue (crime and punishment), not to mention his propensity for being pro-tax (which is always a hard sell with our current levels of inflation...which aren't going to change, as they're permanent now).

Plus, I suspect there are some skeletons in that dude's closet...he's escaped national scrutiny because he's remained a regional clown. There'll be some women coming forward with tales of hijinx, no doubt.

LANDSLIDE

When Trump won the first time, I told my wife (also a Coug) that we needed to give him a chance. He had the potential to do some good things. When his cabinet started to resemble a spinning door, my first thought was that government types were not used to working for a businessman, and that is why they were leaving. When military leader after military leader and foreign policy folks who had my respect bailed on him and eventually made it clear why, I was concerned. When he tried to get the Georgia election results falsified, claimed the election was rigged, and incited the attack on the capitol building...then did nothing as law enforcement pleaded for help...I was done. You don't abandon your troops on the hill (even Capitol Hill). Unless of course you viewed your troops as the skinheads and others attacking the place, rather than law enforcement. That day was my line in the sand.

At this point I honestly don't know whether I can believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Will he really do any of the things he says? His supporters hope he does the things they agree with and the saner ones hope he does not turn the military, DOJ & FBI against his political enemies as he has said he would do. They hope he does not bow to Putin and pull the rug out from under Ukraine. I don't want to see the federal government actively trying to stop all abortions; Trump has promised so many different things on this issue, I need a spinning wheel and a dart to know what is likely. It seems safe to assume that our government will now substantially ignore climate change and its effects...hopefully they will at least increase FEMA funding, since those needs are only going to accelerate...mostly in red states, ironically.

I know people who still think he will get Mexico to pay for a wall. I'd at least like to see some sort of agreement where they try to limit immigration and drug smuggling, in return for our limiting of arms smuggling and use of financial structures to limit cartel money transfers. That was next on Bush II's agenda, which got completely hijacked by 9/11.

Regardless of all that, the man is now president of the United States. He has responsibilities. We need to hope and pray that he puts people in place who are capable. The white house appoints a LOT of people in government. Hopefully they will be competent. Many people will want those jobs. I'm just not sure what kind of person will want those jobs this time around.

A lot remains to be seen. I'd guess that we'll have a pretty clear picture of direction by next summer. Maybe everything outrageous that came out of his mouth was simply rhetoric & lies. The problem is knowing which was which...and which he intends to try to actually do.

In the mean time I still support my church, my company, my family, and of course, WSU. They are some of my tribes. Maybe one day the Republican party will restore itself and again be one of my tribes; I hope so, but am not holding my breath.

The arrogant elites running the democratic party will never admit they f__cked up. It's always someone else's fault. They will blame white people/rural rednecks.

Obama and Biden have been swept into the dustbin if history. The GOP will continue to expand with minority and under 30 vote.

And a victory for the Lady Cougs too!

In all seriousness, I truly hope they put an end to this transgender sports garbage. It all stinks of progressive leaning people wanting to pat themselves on the back about how great they are without any real thought about the damage they've done. This was never going to be fixed and women were going to continue to suffer for that mindset. I saw an exit poll from Pittsburgh on CNN or NYT where 85% of the respondents, regardless of political leaning, thought the trans-sports situation was wrong tracked. Maybe now we can start to have a more cohesive national discussion about mental illness and how it's not being addressed (namely, homeless and drug abuse).

And a victory for the Lady Cougs too!

Because the retarded normalization of dude's with Adam's Apples and 5 o'clock shaddows whearing jog bras is over.

Of course, I'm sure Pimples is still going to put on his Handmaid's moo moo and throw a Reddit-worthy tantrum about it...

What the f#ck are you talking about? I know that I've always said that I think transgender athletes in sports is stupid. Y'all just love to make shit up.
