Gardena (Calif.) Serra S Brandon Burton announced on Twitter that he picked up an offer from Washington State. The 6-foot, 193-pound safety is rated four-stars by Rivals and the No. 6 safety in the 2016 class. Additionally, Burton is rated the No. 45 overall prospect in the country and No. 9 prospect in the California for the current cycle.

In addition to Washington State, Burton holds offers from Arizona State, Boston College, California, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington.

UPDATE: New offer out to 4-star DB...

Calabasas (Calif.) S Marquel Dismuke announced on Twitter this afternoon that he picked up an offer from Washington State today. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound safety is rated four-stars by Rivals and the No. 12 safety prospect in the country.

The Rivals250 prospects, who ranks as the No. 156 player in the 2016 class, also holds offers from Arizona State, California, Colorado State, Michigan, Mississippi State, San Diego State and Utah.

Tremane Isabell

I see that Isabell has been suspended from Mizzou since the beginning of the month for what is being called "poor behavior towards teammates and coaches." So besides being a mediocre performer this year, it sounds like he's a team cancer. I'm glad EK saw the signs early and cut him loose.

Didn't we have an earlier poster that was convinced Isabell was a "one and done" type NBA prospect? I believe I was often called out (as was others) for not believing this kid was a program savior.

Maybe Isabell will see the error of his ways and still make the NBA. Maybe

Neurological diseases in the future. The article out of Lake O is linked below but the Mayo Clinic study is here:

Mayo Clinic

EDIT: I'd read the Lake O article first, as it's a father perspective whom happens to be a Stanford researcher, as well. It's also not quite so deep as the Mayo Clinic research findings article.

State break down of D1 prospects

I came across this article today that is really interesting to me because of how some people are questioning why we couldn't sign any Washington kids and the Oregon senator complaining how Oregon didn't sign one state kid this year. Washington ranks 23rd in the country in kids signing with D1 schools with just about 128 kids in the last 4 years. California is 3rd with having almost having 1300 (1272) kids signing scholarships to D1 schools. California had more than twice as many kids signing with a D1 school this year alone (289) than Washington has produced in 4 years combined. Now, the thing is about Washington they are getting credited for kids signing with schools like Idaho and Wyoming in this process. I looked at this year, of the 28 kids that signed with a D1 school 15 signed with Pac-12 schools, 8 signing with UW, 3 with Oregon, 2 to Cal and 1 to Arizona and Stanford and out of those 28 kids, 5 came from East of the mountains, Rypien to BSU, Lemieux to Oregon, Adams to Washington and Bamis to Idaho, the rest were on the westside. Why spend a lot of timing recruiting a state where you might get one or two kids in the state if you're lucky? Spend your time in California and Texas, those states produce over 700 kids a year, hell recruit Georgia harder. Washington just doesn't have the talent to invest a lot of time in recruiting, when you are producing maybe at best 15 Pac-12 caliber kids a year where already 50% of them are going to the EWE regardless.

UPDATE: New offer out to JUCO DE...

Glendale (Ariz.) C.C. DE Christian Hill tells me he picked up an offer from Washington State today. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder also holds offers from Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon State, Purdue, Colorado State, San Diego State and Oregon.

A non-qualifier out of high school, Hill is expected to graduate in December and will have three years to play two at the next level. Hill actually never played football in high school, instead enrolling in the Air Force for four years before walking on at Glendale Community College prior to last season. Schools have certainly started to notice. Cool story.

Hoops: New JUCO forward target...

According to Brad Winton of JUCO Recruiting, Washington State checked in on Midland (TX) College PF Torren Jones.

The 6-foot-9 forward is a sophomore with three years to play two left and is averaging 17.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this year. Jones currently holds offers from West Virginia and Colorado.

Jones, a former three-star prospect in the 2013 class, originally signed with Missouri, though he ended up going the JUCO route. The Chandler, Ariz., product played his prep basketball for La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere School, and played his AAU hoops for Cali Supreme. He was rated the No. 27 power forward and No. 123 overall prospect in the 2013 class.

Also of note is that Jones officially visited Washington State prior to committing to Missouri. Coming out of high school, Jones also held offers from Arizona, California, Colorado, Marquette, Miami, Oregon, Texas, Washington and several others.

It's clear that Ernie Kent is looking to add another JUCO forward in this class, as they've also been keeping an eye on Baytown (TX) Lee College forward Ahmed Mohamed. You can read our latest update on Mohamed here.

NEW: Leach adds to quality control staff...

A source has confirmed a FootballScoop.com report that Washington State head coach Mike Leach has hired Boise State graduate assistant Joel Filani as an offensive quality control assistant. Filani played receiver for Leach at Texas Tech.

Filani, 30, has spent the last two season's at Boise State as an offensive graduate assistant, and primarily worked with the receivers. He was very productive as a player at Texas Tech from 2003-06, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors in both 2005 and 2006.

Filani was selected in the sixth round by the Tennessee Titans in the 2007 NFL Draft, and also played for the Minnesota Vikings, the Seattle Seahawks, the Detroit Lions, the St. Louis Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2007-09. He played for the Chicago Rush of the Arena League in 2011.

Washington State special teams coordinator Eric Mele was previously the offensive quality control assistant. Graham Harrell also worked as an offensive assistant before being promoted to outside receivers coach.

Just when I've condemned DKD to the trash heap of Coug

hoop history he comes on like gangbusters with the best game of his career to push WSU to a close win over ASU. A career high in points, a key defensive stop, impressive drives to the hoop, clutch free throws--he did it all in the Coug win. Where has this version of him been his entire damn career. Even if he had morphed into superman a few games sooner this season, we would be knocking on the door of the upper division of the conference standings. Still, if he can maintain any semblance of that kind of play, we could still do some damage come tourney time.

Kent Ball

So Kent's team won another PAC 12 ball game last night. Kent has done a great job in infusing his own brand of winning basketball into this year's team. I would like to see a couple of more wins from this team. Needless to say i do not agree with detractors who think that this years recruiting was a bad one. The addition of Valentine , Clark and,Sugg and the others will make for a very competitive and exciting team to watch next year. The others will also have their moments. People cannot seem to grasp that this years team is young and still learning to win. I also see a upset in the Tournament . It has already been a successful year for Kent's team. They ,like all young teams ,play better at home. The great win against ASU was a win over a team who had just beaten a highly ranked Arizona team.Keep it up Ernie,Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead :)
