Idaho all state game

Tony Bennett’s recruit Blake Buchanan had 19 points but our walk-on post LaBeau from Boise was the leading scorer with 22.

Don’t want to read to much into it but its nice to see!

Coach Smith has put together a pretty solid stable of walk-on players. Not sure if they’ll ever be more than practice players buts it’s nice to see. The twins apparently have each grown 2 inches and put on 15 lbs according to the official roster. Also Rohosy is now listed an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier.

Massey's view of 2023 WSU football

I hadn't looked at Massey's ratings this year but I checked it out today. The good news is that our schedule is pretty damned manageable if we don't suck. Following is his breakdown:

Easy wins: CSU, N Colorado, Arizona, Stanford and Colorado
Close wins: ASU, Cal
Close losses: OSU, UCLA
Likely losses: Wisconsin, Oregon, UW

He says we beat CSU by 19, N. Colorado by 39, Arizona by 10, Stanford by 8 and Colorado by 20. His ratings are based on the past performance of teams so the Buffaloes are obviously a bit of a mystery at this point. ASU and Cal are road games and we'd be favored to beat both of them by a touchdown or more in Pullman.

OSU and UCLA are games that would be tossups in Pullman. Personally, I think UCLA is going to struggle this year. It looks like they may be starting a true freshman at QB. Their opening schedule is squishy soft and they'll probably start 3-0 but they face Utah right before they play us. I think it's a game that we have a great opportunity to win.

Massey is predicting yet another 7-5 finish for the Cougs and that wouldn't be the end of the world. Obviously a lot has to happen the right way for that to pan out.

Boise State promotion

Did everyone see the new promotion by the donkoes? They are giving away free tickets to fans who attend home wins and go to the next game too. Their home games are against UCF...who will bring no fans, FCS North Dakota, a terrible San Jose St team, a terrible Wyoming team, a terrible New Mexico team and Air Force when the weather is likely going to be terrible. The computers are suggesting a close loss in the game against UCF....but it's free tickets for the rest of the year if they get over that hump.

Half of their regular season home games failed to sell out last year and only 24,000 people showed up for their MWC championship game in their home stadium. Looks like WSU isn't the only place that isn't pulling in fans when the cold weather strikes or for less popular opponents.

Interesting Arizona & Colorado Fanbase - Big12

I find it rather interesting that in Twitter Land, almost all of the Arizona Fans & about 60% of the Colorado Fans desperately want to move to Big12.

Arizona Fan is very puzzling. Outside of Men’s Hoops, they have struggled in what many consider the weaker of the two conferences (PAC-12) in all sports for years. So by moving to a stronger conference top to bottom, they magically get better & become nationally relevant?? I just don’t see it working that way. Big12 Hoops would take away their one stranglehold they have left as an annual powerhouse.

At some point, wins on the field has to drive the boat. Ask Nebraska, Mizzou, & soon to be Oklahoma/Texas how their brand & fan apathy is doing.

Northwestern fires Pat Fitzgerald

Generally think he's a good coach. Not sure why he didn't have a better handle on what his players were doing, but feel like this got out of hand very quickly in the media.

OT-Music

Someone here recently asked for some new threads that weren't political, but something of interest since football stuff is so dead. Well, except for all the speculation on the coming (or not) implosion of the PAC 8/10/12/14/16 Conference. So here is one I have been meaning to post for a while now.....

Let's hear your nominations for singers that had a great career in spite of having a poor voice. Here is a start-add your own or take potshots:

Male
Bob Dylan
Rod Stewart
Johnny Cash
Neal Young
Leon Redbone
Joe Walsh
Joe Cocker
Tom Waits

Female
Janis Joplin
Melissa Etheridge

I considered adding Eric Clapton, David Gimour, and Mark Knopfler (allheavy favorites of mine) to the list but decided they just missed the cut.
