2010 Cougar Football Team vrs. 2014 Cougar Football Team

The last few threads on this here forum have seemed to have been high jacked by the Wulff vs Leach debate crowd (NOT blaming anyone specifically, I think we can all agree it takes two to tango). All this debate about success vs progress, progress vs W/L column, Price vs Leach vs Wulff vs Walden, etc... got me thinking.... Which 3rd year Cougar team would beat the other?

Specifically, Leach's 2014 squad vrs. Wulff's stout 2010 team.

Who would win? Also, this is a hypothetical universe (also brought up in another thread), so yes... the freshman version of a player would be going up against their senior/junior 2014 counterpart clone.

Have at thee!

ESPN's view of our Non-Con

I think his "thoughts" at the end are spot on.

Interesting to see the outside perspective on our non-con.

Rutgers is really our test. Sounds like the QB is "lights out". We might be defending the East Coast version of the Air Raid. But Lombardi is right on this one. Our Defense is what killed not only last years Rutgers game but pretty much all of the games we lost… Grinch has a pretty big plate he's gotta clear.

Also sounds like they have a couple D players that could be interesting…

"The Gunship"

When Leach and Maestro first arrived,
There was a lot of talk about, Air Raid (Leach) + Pistol (Maestro) = Awesome (!!!)

Upon their arrival however, it is my opinion that the the QB/OL/RB situation did not lend itself to playing with these concepts, and installing the Air Raid took precedence as it fit the personnel better. (This is NOT meant to detract from Halliday's or anyone else's accomplishments, just setting the table.)

Going into this season there were some rumblings of Falk working (and being more comfortable) from under center, the O-Line being solid, and the explosiveness of the RB's. It feels to me like Leach and Maestro may now have the pieces in place to begin to experiment with mashing these two offenses into one-
"The Gunship"
(I know, the most natural combination would be the "Air Pistol" but that seems a little too wimpy to my ear!)

Anyway,
I would like to know what people's thoughts are regarding the combination of these two attacks-
the Air Raid with the Pistol.

X's & O's,
Current personnel fitment,
New or changing responsibilities for players,
etc.

This post is intended to look forward, at the development and evolution of the offense, for the upcoming season.

Please, if you would, refrain from taking this thread to other topics. (Wulff, Moos, past W-L, etc. etc.)

Thanks!

usc sanctions....?

I'm curious. We all know what happened at sc and the Reggie Bush cheating scandal...... but I want to know what others think should happen to North Carolina for their huge academic cheating scandal that was University sanctioned. Does UNC deserve a bigger penalty then sc got?

I think NC should get hammered for Univesity sanctioned cheating.... that is the definition of the dreaded loss of institutional control label. Hammer away on n'caroline NCAA !!

Martin Stadium - Moved from another thread

Can some engineer take a look at the stadium and calculate how many seats would be added if we brought the end zone bowl up to the height of the sideline seats? It would have to be a deck of course because of the concessions, etc underneath but the actual number of seats should be similar to just continuing the horseshoe. One thing that always surprised me was just how much distance is in between the corners of the stadium in the bowl end. maybe finishing the bowl would add 10,000 seats. Remember, it used to be 40,000 seats when we had the wooden bowl and it came nowhere near the top of the reserved seats.

So we knew this was going to happen...

right? We had to offer him? Ben Moos, Bill Moos, is a TE in Pullman. Class of 2017. 6'4" and 240…

We offered him, I believe, yesterday. While on one hand I can see him staying there. On the other, I can see him getting the heck out of dodge. Either way… but found it interesting we finally offered.
