Abandoning allies

These clowns are so balls deep for Trump, they are pot committed and will never see the light of day. All they can do at this point is keep doubling down on stupid.

I haven’t read much on what it was like for Germans who vehemently supported Hitler during his rise to power after his defeat. I suspect many crawled back into their holes and weren’t heard from again. I wonder if the Trumptards will do the same after he’s eventually outed and removed. The positive with how quickly it’s unraveling is well, how quickly it’s unraveling. His fate and those who played the Goebels role along side him is actually looking like it will come sooner than anyone expected.
As a young girl my mother-in-law lived under Nazi occupation in Luxembourg. People like Goober and the functionally illiterate lawyer were Nazi sympathizers during the war. She had cousins that were shunned by the rest of her family and society for their wartime activities. Luxembourg was/is a very civil place: in other countries the fate of these people could be far worse.

NY Post? Perhaps you could link a hugely less partisan source.

Your TDS prompts you to continually feel the need to jump to the defense of this terrible human.

Stretch, help me understand how you (a seemingly fundamentally decent human) can support such an indecent human. No choice? Had to? No better candidates?
I wasn't aware that we had to run our sources past the Disinformation Committee for approval before posting. BTW, is the committee you, Coug90%, Simp Willie? :) BTW, note that the article was not all about kissing Trump's ass, it did include some of his problems, and it was about his work long before he was the president.

You guys struggle more understanding TDS than you would with a nuclear brain surgery text book.

FYI, I may answer this question that you raise. I have been mulling it over in my mind whether to give long, rational, informative answer to the question or just admit the reality that it won't make a ****ing bit of difference for the Orange Man Bad gang because they operate with horse blinders on and are incapable of processing any opinion that creates a miniscule bit of cognitive dissonance in their world. I'll let you know.

So given that, do you and the other TDS folks here think it was a good idea, that it didn't break any political protocols, for Zelenskyy to come into the Oval Office and start trying to push for additional support from the US? That seems like a pretty stupid thing to do from my knothole.

Well, I suppose it would have worked with Joe or Kamala, byt Trump and Vance are both way smarter than those two chumps.

The second clear body language signal was after VZ had embarrassed himself by rudely talking over his host like he thought he was on a MSNBC talk show, the cameras caught the Ukrainian ambassador with her head in her hands, shaking her head with the realization how big of a cluster**** her boss was doing. It was classic!

Sometimes you amaze me. Trump and Vance's body language and words were way worse than Zelensky's.

And the guy is 3 years into a war. Of course he would ask for more aid. Wouldn't you?

And the "meeting" might have well been a talk show. Again - why was this open to reporters given the sensitive subject matter at hand? Zelensky should have just said no I won't have a press-filled meeting. That's why they have press conferences. Absolutely disgraceful performance by the USA. And oh, tell me about Rubio's body language. Like WTF did I do this for?

It was the oval office presser photo op that we’ve seen many times. Why Trump didn’t clear the room when it heated up, I don’t know.

You’re forgetting that Zelenskyy has gotten everything or almost everything he’s wanted. He wanted ATACMS. Eventually got them. Then it was to launch them deep into Russia. And Patriot batteries, and eventually got them. And it was F-16s, and eventually got them.

But now he’s not getting something he wants- a security guaranty. Of course Zelenskyy is frustrated and desperate. But that doesn’t mean Ukraine gets whatever Zelenskyy asks for.

the "great negotiator" is out there giving up every negotiating point before he had his first meeting with Putin. Y'all keep talking about stopping the war because people are dying. By that logic, we should have told Europe to just surrender to Hitler because it would have stopped the killing. F#cking retarded comment to suggest that Ukrainians should surrender just because it's the easy thing to do.
Pretty sure you’re free to go die for Zelensky.

For those that might think that body language is telling, (I think a lot of poker players do) there were a couple things that stood out in today's scuffle. The first one was after VZ started off the shit show and JD started talking he leaned back and scowled, with his arms tightly crossed, giving off a strong signal that he didn't give a shit what was being said to him. Not really a good thing to do when you are invited onto someone else's home turf, and they are attempting to give you some urgently needed help.

The second clear body language signal was after VZ had embarrassed himself by rudely talking over his host like he thought he was on a MSNBC talk show, the cameras caught the Ukrainian ambassador with her head in her hands, shaking her head with the realization how big of a cluster**** her boss was doing. Or, the other interpretation:
Zelensky’s posture was defensive, and Vance’s forward lean, gestures in his direction, tone and volume were extremely aggressive.

Plus, he couldn’t get a word in as Vance & Trump kept talking over him. He kept a pretty even volume and seemed to try to maintain some decorum while his “hosts” went on the attack. His ambassador had her head in her hands because she couldn’t believe they’d been drawn into this ambush at the hands of a country that has stood for freedom & self-determination for a century…until a couple weeks ago.

Not really.
Funny coming from a guy who fancies himself a wwii authority yet wasn’t aware/doesn’t understand a Goebbels quote, how it pertains to post-war Germany and their laws and what it has to do with Vance’s words in Germany and his embracing of the racist and anti-Semitic right-wing extremist AfD.

You didn’t like the results of a democratic election. That's the only conclusion that can be reached. You do know that the AfD candidate for chancellor is gay, and her partner is Sri Lankan. That doesn’t quite fit your narrative.

And, as previously stated, Zuck and Elon got their money’s worth.

Simple answer for simple minds. Try harder.

And yes, Musk and the Facebook dweeb did get their money’s worth. Our country is for sale to the highest bidder, same as it ever was. Just a lot more transparent now. But isn’t this the very corruption the MAGAs are supposedly rebelling against? Funny that. Squirrel, squirrel, look at the squirrel.

Ignoring facts you don’t like is indeed a simple minded approach. You are trying too hard.

Are alliances built on self-enrichment really alliances for the betterment of the country?

30+ years of neo-conservatism (including Obama and Clintons) has resulted in millions of deaths and created countless millionaires (billionaires)?

Enough is enough.

Let's be honest, this is only news because it happen in public. This isn't a Trump thing. Like the British before us, the USA has a history of strong arm "diplomacy. "

Talking about the bomb, Ernest Bevin, Labour (left wing) UK foreign secretary, had this to say in 1946, "We've got to have this thing … whatever it costs. We've got to have the bloody union jack on top of it."

This is what he had to say to the British cabinet, not following a meeting with Vyacheslav Molotov as you might suspect, but following a dressed down meeting with Truman's Secretary of State James Byrnes. Prior to that meeting, as a good socialist, Bevin was for scrapping military spending and UK bomb development. After the meeting, it was "we will eat grass to have the bomb."

Now imagine how bad THAT meeting went...

Time and place, time and place. This was neither the proper time nor the proper place. Before this meeting/ceremony-yes, proper time and place. After this meeting/ceremony- yes, proper time and place. Each of those options would be out of the view of the press and public. There you can ask for whatever you want, try to plead your case for much more than what we (The United States) have already given and committed.

Let's say that you and your wife are going to your in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner. Your in-laws have been helping you and your wife out for the past 3 years with $1,000/month because you were laid off and had to find another job that pays a lot less than what you used to make. Last week they had agreed to give you an extra $200/month starting in January to help even more with increased costs of food and utilities. You appreciate their support, but you REALLY want to get $1,500/month from them to live more comfortably. So do ask them over the phone or in person the week before the dinner, at the Thanksgiving dinner with other relatives there, or the week after the dinner?

I am sure you know that the proper time is absolutely NOT at the dinner. And I am sure you realize that the proper time and place for Zelensky to try to negotiate additional support from the US was absolutely NOT at yesterday's meeting/ceremony.

Was it the time and place for Trump and Vance to demand that Zelensky debase himself and beg for our support?

We are supposed to be a Christian nation and the GOP is supposed to be the party that represents that. Trump and Vance act like Mafia goons telling Zelensky, "It would be a shame if anything were to happen to your little country" and demanding hundreds of billions of dollars in rare earth minerals and natural resources is the exact opposite of Christianity.

Trump could have treated Zelensky with a modicum of respect himself, but unfortunately, the only people that Trump treats with respect are men that are worse than him....because he wishes that he could be them. Instead, he used that press conference to ambush Zelensky in an attempt to get him to grovel. You talk about time and place and you are right that it was neither the time nor place for Trump to be a gigantic prick....but that's Trump 24/7 so what else would we have expected? And Vance is just a f#ckin' poser who wants to be Trump.

Nailed it with the first sentence!

I saw an interview yesterday with Mike Pompeo and he stated he had seen and participated in many negotiations that got much more heated than yesterday's, but had never seen it done in public like that. He said it was very wrong for Zelensky to do that in public. Just after him 4-Star General Jack Keane (Retired) was interviewed and agreed with Pompeo, saying that Zelensky is not understanding the situation, that he actually IS getting support from Trump.

FWIW, I have never seen anyone as knowledgeable on political and military conflicts/situations, and break it down into understandable language. An extremely brilliant man!

It really must suck to be you, living in your world completely consumed by hatred.

Time and place is important. VZ blew up the deal and it is his fault. The mineral rights deal had benefits to both parties, the US and Ukraine would both gain something. As Gen Keane stated BEFORE the meeting yesterday, Putin HATES this deal. Zelensky needed to realize that Trump cannot end up getting a peace deal made if he comes out 100% in favor of favor of Ukraine.

Zelensky went for anal on the first date when he might have walked away with a little heavy petting.

Don't make the boss look bad at the annual company meeting.
