Shit political thread. Stop it!

Aside from all the other stuff you wrote here...you SURE he put america first? Or did he really just put himself first?
Very few want either Biden or Trump.

I think Biden will be replaced due to his declining health.

I can’t vote for either as Trump is too obsessed with fighting yesterday’s battles and real or perceived injustices.

Not voting I’m ‘24 because I won’t vote for a Democrat.

You clearly have no clue about Trump Derangement Syndrome, or any realization that you are clearly suffering from it. Too bad that you don't realize that you do not have the ability or authority to reverse the definition of it just because you want to. Projection IS a real thing.

Trump is an actual traitor? That's pretty rich. Did you get the proof from Adam Schiff? Just curious about that, since he also claimed Trump was a traitor and never came up with a single bit of evidence to support that claim. That is a truly ridiculous claim to make. There are a lot of things to not like about Trump, but one thing is certain-he did put America first, and wanted the US to be the best country in the world.

We need more business people like him leading our country and far fewer lawyers and career politicians that have never held a real job in their life.

I know what you think Trump Derangement Syndrome is....and I know that you don't have any clue about what the real Trump Derangement Syndrome is. What's "pretty rich" is that you view Trump as some kind of hero while you undoubtedly piss down your legs about Hillary's emails and Hunter's stupid laptop.

Lol. The six bankruptcies never happened. Nor did the $400M equivalent handout he started with. Head. In. Sand.

In retrospect when your business mostly consists of the ability to grift on idiots, I suppose you could argue he’s a wildly successful businessman 🤷

Remember the fuss over Donald's tax returns? The only two reasons for it I can think of are: (1) he has massive NOL carryovers from losing his ass in Atlantic City, of the kind where he will never pay federal income tax again; and (2) some aggressive tax positions that he has largely gotten away with.

Now, damn near every real estate developer I've ever met has gotten over his/her skis at some point or another. That's what happens when everything is leveraged. The BKs were corporate not personal, and he was shunned by banks for years. That's why he started licensing his name and did The Apprentice. Building himself back up from where he was in the early 90s was no easy feat. Forbes estimates his net worth at $2.5 billion, which is a lot higher than mine.

Yes, I am. He put in place policies that were friendly to American economy so that inflation was kept in check and real wages actually grew for all categories. How is that going under the new guy?

He worked to control our borders and limit immigration. How is that going under the new guy?

He didn't kiss the asses of the other countries, like NATO and Middle East. How is that going under the new guy?

Russia and North Korean aggression were limited under Trump. How's that going with the new guy?

Trump promoted energy independence in order to stimulate the economy with affordablefuel and limit the control over the US by foreign countries. How is that going under the new guy?

He pushed through a tax break for ~90-95% of Americans. How are taxes going under the new guy?

And, he, like all presidents, DID spend too much money. And he had some mean tweets that offended some people. Which meant that he needed to be impeached for his crime of offending snowflakes. Yeah, right.

Trump derangement syndrome (TDS) is a pejorative term, usually for criticism or negative reactions to former United States president Donald Trump that are perceived to be irrational, and presumed to have little regard towards Trump's actual policy positions, or actions undertaken by his administration.[1] The term has mainly been used by Trump supporters to discredit criticism of his actions, as a way of reframing the discussion by suggesting that his opponents are incapable of accurately perceiving the world.[2][3][4] Politico co-founder John Harris wrote that TDS is related to gaslighting, "another psychological concept in vogue in the Trump era."[5] Journalists have used the term to call for restraint when judging Trump's statements and actions

Urban Dictionary offers up this handy definition: “Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their dislike of Donald Trump, to the point at which they will abandon all logic and reason.”

There you go. And just to "learn ya" something, it originally was used against GWB by those that hated him. It was easy to morph from BDS to ODS to TDS.

For the record, I do NOT view Trump as a hero. In my view, most of the actual heroes in the country are folks that few people have ever heard of, people that do amazing things for other people. What Trump did was promote America throughout the world and make policies that encouraged energy independence, which lead to a very strong economy that was benefitting almost all Americans right up until the point that Covid kicked us all right in the nuts.

He was far from perfect, but he was better than his predecessor and MILES ahead of his successor. The thing is that I am able to overcome distaste for some of his personal actions and methods of getting things done while still being able to recognize the overall good he did for the economy and country. You are unable to recognize or admit that he had large benefit to the country because of your hatred of him personally.

Oh for gawd sakes. And how many pussies did he grab along the way?

Stretch, you are so far off base on all of your points. The guy is a horrible human being. couple of comments - he cut taxes for the rich, and the deficit skyrocketed. And Russia didn't invade Ukraine while he was Prez? Like that was his doing as he was kissing Putin's butt for 4 years? And no North Korean aggression? They haven't invaded anyone for 70 years.

And why the F, once again, does a Football thread that I started devolve into this shit?

Are you want to compare yourself to the Donald? You may have noticed that many a President were not exactly pure as the driven snow.

On Ukraine, it is notable that Crimea was invaded under Obama, and Putin launched the "special military operation" under Biden. If you bothered to think rationally, you might realize that Trump was far more hawkish toward Russia than either Obama or Biden.

And are you telling me your taxes didn't decrease because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act? Mine did.

The true fact remains that just about anyone off the street would be a better choice than either Trump or Biden.

I have no idea how many pussies Trump grabbed along the way and neither do you. It may have been one, it may have been a hundred, nobody knows. Or that comment may have just been "locker room bragging" and simply a bunch of bullshit, like the HS QB that says he nailed the head cheerleader last weekend.

You, like Flatland, are letting your hatred for Trump interfere with your ability to rationally consider the things that he did that were good for the country and for us as individuals. See, he didn't just cut taxes for the rich-90+% of Americans got their taxes cut. Too bad it wasn't 100%, so I guess he is just horrible. But didn't revenues actually rise after the tax cuts? I think they did. Must have been that excess spending that made the deficit rise, kind of like Biden is doing, only at a higher level.

As far as NK, I never said they invaded anyone, I referred to aggression. NK's aggression was doing more and more ballastic missile tests, which stopped after Trump visited the country.

Russia, Russia, Russia! Isn't it fun telling lies about them. Perhaps you can explain exactly how he was kissing Putin's ass. Must have been how he was pushing to help Russia's economy by pushing Europe to buy LNG from the US instead of Russia. Right? Or was it all from the secret meeting that Trump had with Putin in Atlantis where he asked for Putin to help him win the election? LOL

Fans of the tax cuts always seem to overlook the fact that they’re temporary. The changes to the individual taxes go away in 2025, so the standard deduction will be cut in half and the rates will go back to what they were.

The cuts to taxes for large corporations - which were far more generous than those to individuals - are permanent. Some of the provisions for accelerated depreciation are already phasing out, which is part of what’s grinding on small business now.

In what should be a surprise to no one, the corporate tax cuts didn’t give the result they were supposed to. The theory (which has been disproved before) was that corporations would re-invest in their infrastructure and their employees, and their tax savings would benefit individuals too. That didn’t happen. They reinvested, but in their shareholders, not their business. Their savings went to stock buybacks and dividend payments. Who could have guessed…other than anyone who paid attention when Reagan tried the same thing.

Anyway, don’t celebrate about those tax cuts too much. They’re going away.

They're going away, yes. Congress could extend them if they wanted to.

Was it also trickle down economics that the Fed had a free money policy for several years starting in the Obama regime? I think there is no doubt. Those with assets saw a huge increase in valuations while the lower middle class don't have enough money to buy many assets.

I'm not a fan of the current administration's policies but Trump, being the idiot that he is, went too far on border control. The "Wall" was a vanity project that is harmful to the environment, violates property rights and wasn't going to stop illegal immigration. He spent a year telling the country that Mexico would pay for it and rolled over like a pussy when Mexico's President told him to go **** himself. Contrary to the thinking of all of the racist, nationalist fools that worship the Donald, we NEED immigration. Most of the greatest innovations in our country's history were made by immigrants or their first generation descendants. I've seen Mexicans work on construction crews and I've seen Americans work on construction crews and trust me....your dollar goes farther when there are Mexicans working. We need carefully monitored and controlled immigration....not the extremes presented by each party.

Donald Trump kissed the ass of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. Russia didn't invade Ukraine on the Cheeto-in-Chief's watch, but they certainly continued to attack Syrian rebels fighting for democracy in Syria during his watch and Wagner, backed by Russia, had been committing war crimes in Africa throughout the Donald's tenure.

His moronic tariffs were cast randomly and act as a tax on Americans....not on foreign countries or firms.

On taxes, his tax breaks did help some people, but they screwed over millions of Americans like me that used to itemize. My taxes jumped $1500 per year because of his tax breaks. For the record, the only permanent tax breaks he secured were for the wealthy and for large corporations. As for Biden's tax proposals.....none of them likely impact anyone on this board in a material way unless they make over $400k per year.

"Energy Independence" is a worn out tag line that was false at the time. The US continued to import oil under Trump and never stopped. We just had more American companies exporting oil. FWIW, US oil production is on track to exceed the record set in November 2019 in the next month or so if it hasn't already. US oil field production hit 13 million barrels per day in November 2019 but was down to 10.5 million barrels per day on election day in 2020. As a political stunt, producers dramatically cut production in February 2021, but by the end of the year, production was back above 2018 numbers. And if you do some research, you'll see that the average for the entire year in 2023 is already higher than it averaged in 2019....Donald's best year. So, when it comes to "energy independence"......the Donald is actually going to be in second place behind Biden before it's all said and done.

Inflation has been a bitch for the past couple years, but most of the problem is that the economy is so strong, retailers can get away with raising prices and everyone has to just pay up. There were a lot of big profits posted in 2022. The economy continues to surprise and refuses to go into a recession despite all of the Fed's efforts.

So yeah, worship the Cheeto if you want, but he's second best at everything in the long run.

Trump, love him or hate him, love his policies, hate them. That politics. But when you demonstrate an unwillingness to relinquish power after a election lost, and a peaceful exchange of power (more or less) requires a threatened en masse justice department revolt and a VP unwilling to entertain phoney elector ballots, you have no business being anywhere around the presidency of the United States.

On that. I'm sure we can all agree.

Actually, I doubt it. A big part of his base thinks open revolt is justified simply because he says so. The charging of the barricades and ensuing chaos inside the Capitol, the “occupying” of offices and taking of trophies - that we’ve seen the video of - was overblown and exaggerated. But the murky claims of undercounts and rampant election fraud across multiple states - which there’s zero evidence to support - somehow those are 100% truth.

Seeing should be believing. But it’s not anymore. If Donald tells you you didn’t see it, you didn’t. And that’s the real TDS.

Trump tough on Putin? Lmfao. you don’t have to be a body language expert to see what went down in Helsinki as nothing less than Trump being had by Putin. Who knows what was said, but the resulting asskissing of a foreign adversary is a disgrace at the level which we’ve never seen from a president in modern times. I’d almost argue that moment and what it lead to is worse than 1/6…it’s resulted in the closest we’ve come to a WW since the Cuban missile crisis.

Putin didn’t have to go full scale war on Ukraine because Trump was going to hand it to him, and eventually would have sat idly by as he moved through Eastern Europe.

You can still itemize. And, yes, you're afflicted with TDS. Wean yourself off MSNBC. Maybe try independent journalism on YouTube.

This response always cracks me up. It doesn’t matter what version of the news you watch. You can’t distort what comes out of someone’s mouth…what they clearly said on video, in front of a camera, mic, “perfect” call that was recorded. Yes certain networks will cover things more than others depending on what they want you to see/hear and the narrative they want to spin. But if you are focused on that individual, and not what hannity, Tucker, Lemon, or Maddow are saying it’s really quite simple…you either believe your eyes and ears…or you don’t.

Oh but you can. His Charlottesville comments on "fine people on both sides" was distorted.

Maybe you should try independent journalism too.

Did he say it? Hearing what you want to hear isn’t what “distorted” means.

Let me give you a smattering of stuff I’ve heard come directly out of Trumps mouth.
-McCain wasn’t a war hero because he got caught (from captain bone spurs)
-grab em by the pussy, if you are famous they let you do it
-I believe Putin over our own intelligence (paraphrasing, Helsinki). Also video of Putin leading him around like a whipped dog. Yeah real strong one he is
-I need you to find us 11,270? Votes. To GA. Straight up confession of attempted election interference.
-I need you to do me a favor ( Zelinsky shakedown) perfect phone call…yeah ok
-bleach and uv light in the body (Covid. Hate Fauci all you want the hand on forehead reaction was the appropriate one)
-Mocking a disabled reporter like a first grade bully would

You apparently don't understand how the tax law changed. Prior to the Donald and his GOP monkeys changing the tax laws, the standard deduction was $12,700 if you filed jointly and you could itemize various deductions and stack them on top of that deduction. I used to be able to deduct around $17k per year in those itemized deductions. The Donald and his GOP monkeys upped the standard deduction to $24,000 and handed out a bunch of child tax credits but you couldn't stack those itemized deductions on top of that anymore. So....my deductions went from around $30k per year down to $24k per year. My kids are grown up and I make too much money regardless so I never got to enjoy those child tax credits. Instead, I got to pay an additional $1,500 in taxes every year.

FWIW, I don't watch MSNBC, CNN or any other liberal media outlet. I also avoid Fox News, Newsmax and OAN because only morons and old people watch those channels. And independent journalism is usually highly suspect. I have an uber conservative friend who used to watch this one nimrod who wears a pistol in a shoulder harness on his show. Nothing says "insecure dickhead" like an exposed firearm hanging off your body while you are sitting in a locked building.

And yet strangely, you parrot MSNBC. Weird.

I can provide more if these don't do it for you.

I try to focus on football and or WSU but I’ll tell you what really pisses me off with the tax code - the 10,000 max deduction on State and Local Taxes. It really frosts me to get taxed on my taxes. Initially this was to “penalize” blue states with high taxes to spur voter behavior but once the Ds regained power there was 0 mention of modifying this. Both parties suck.

It seems like an opportune time for a third party.

It will never happen, but if you want genuine tax reform, eliminate deductions, credits, etc., and lower the rates. Putting tax lawyers and accountants out of work would save everyone money. But of course, congress would be unable to give out favors.
