You suck Meister. I was holding this back so that I could ridicule this board later. Although this guy is a heack who doesn't know shit. We shall have a chat on your board. :)

Shrewd? Okay, fine, say that if you must.

But after all the money (donations and season tickets) I spent on Oregon State sports for decades, it would have been completely unacceptable for Oregon State to agree to the reverse merger Gloria Nevarez wanted, especially given the terms of the MWC/PAC-12 football scheduling agreement. A reverse merger would have meant the end of my support. And probably a whole lot of other Beaver fans, too.

Gloria Nevarez, a shrewd business woman. Sure. She shrewdly did a great job of pi$$ing a lot of us off.

Now the great Gloria Nevarez will demonstrate her greatness by rebuilding her conference.
Um, the reverse merger would have preserved the Pac 12. Who says Gloria wanted it, unless we promised that she would be the Commissioner? Your wires are crossed. All this BS about us not wanting the MW cellar dwellars. Well, who will round out the Pac 8? Sacramento State? I dunno, maybe Idaho? Word is that UNLV is giving us the finger.

Why would a reverse merger ended all of OSU's support? Because you are too good for those lower life programs? Don't forget that OSU is the undisputed bottom dweller of the Pac-8/1-/12 in FB.

Yeah, so what? Gloria is a shrewd business woman, looking out for her conference.

Just wow

Disagree.

Ward was one of the hottest NIL names in football at the end of last year.

He is currently #1 in Heisman projections. It’s crystal clear he has NFL measurables.

If his season continues on its current path he will be a high #1 NFL draft pick
We are talking about two different seasons. He was a 5th rounder at best last year, which is why he took NIL money and came back.

Doesn’t matter if he was one of the hottest NIL names, he wasn’t going high in the draft last year scoring 6 points against Arizona.

He’s cleaned a lot up and helps that he has a good OLine and running game to take some pressure off. If he continues to play well, yeah he may be a first rounder.

Yeah, so what? Gloria is a shrewd business woman, looking out for her conference. Quackkoff was over his head, as is Teresa. Speaking of which, Teresa cares about herself keeping a job - which is why we are in such a F-ed position right now. That said, I agree the terms suck(ed). Don't forget no TV money for the away games, no chance to compete for the conference title, etc. Another example of why Teresa needs to be fired, we need to go hat in hand and resurrect the reverse merger and install Gloria as our Commissioner. Pretty f-ing simple. Or we go get Sac. St as our 8th member and call it a day.
Is she? Her conference is falling apart. What is shrewd about that? It seems to me that she overplayed her hand.

Coug1990, I've had similar thoughts.

When my OSU Beavers go on the road to play football at places like Michigan, Ohio State, and LSU, we get PAID $1M to $1.5M by the home team. (Never heard of getting $2M for one of those games...)

When the Beavers host Idaho State, Portland State, Sacramento State, etc, for a football game, we pay them around $300K to $500K for their visit.

The PAC-12 is paying the Mountain West $14M for 12 games this season, 6 home and 6 away. Neither the Beavers or the Cougars are getting paid for visiting their stadiums (for the 6 road games that are part of the 2024 scheduling agreement).

For the Cougars' $7M, the Cougars get home games with Hawaii, Utah State, and Wyoming. Oh, baby, what a schedule.

For the Beaver' $7M, the Beavers get home games with UNLV, Colorado State, and San Jose State. Arguably a better group of teams than the Cougars', but not worth $7M.

For $14M, the PAC-12 did not get a visit from the MWC's best brands, Boise State, Fresno State, or SDSU.

MWC commissioner Gloria Nevarez did not try to partner with the PAC-12 on this scheduling agreement. Rather, she knew we didn't have a realistic second option, so she took full advantage of us.
Yep, they were taking advantage of the two schools and also acting like they were doing this out of the kindness of their heart. The MWC could have with the two schools and tried to have a fair outcome for all sports. Instead, we had to go to the WCC for our other sports because they were reasonable.

It is a great point you make about not getting paid for the away games. If you have a home and home, then the home team gets what they make. In this situation, the MWC is getting paid whether they are hosting or visiting. It's ridiculous.

One year deal with an option to extend,
No Gibby, that wasn't the point. Yes the Year 2 option was in the agreement (the copy I have keeps blurring out on me so I can't get to that part). Meister thinks it was another $12M. The linked CBS article says it was $14M. I swear when I had the F-ing agreement in my paws it was $10M. So the question (and point) is how did that mutate into the reported $30M? And why? Only Gloria knows. I may have to traipse down to Colorado Springs (have I ever mentioned I was born there?) and ask her over a few drinks.

To Meister - I don't know if the Pac (Teresa) balked or the MW (Gloria) balked. Maybe we did and Gloria said F-you it's $30M. Let's keep in mind that these are two probably menopausal women cat fighting. Speaking of cats, I researched and can't find evidence that either of them has kids. So they may very well be menopausal childless cat ladies fighting over our conference futures. I suggest a cage match, or perhaps a jello wrestling faceoff.

I don't feel sorry for the MWC at all. They knew they had us over a barrel before this season because we needed games in a hurry. So, they overcharged us. They tried to do the same thing in the other sports, but we had more time to make other arrangements. They even tried to gouge us even more by doubling the amount they were charging for the 2025 schedule, and we said no.

Did you notice that all of our tough and money making conference games are on the road? It is not a coincidence.

Instead of trying to work with the Pac 12 for some sort of partnership, the MWC leadership tried to use us as an ATM. They were just as greedy as the huskies, Ducks, etc. The MWC overplayed their hand. I repeat, I don't feel sorry for them at all.

I have changed my mind... I want Nevada

Rice, Texas St, North Texas, Liberty(12-0, G5 champ), James Madison(JMU(G5 champ), Apalachian St(beats michigan types), NDSU the best of the best FCS last 50 years, that beats FBS, P4,5 on semi reg basis, that should be at the G5 level, instead of FCS. South Dakotah St, the same as NDSU, Gonzaga, St Mary(The 8 teams in the conference thing, does not mean that all 8 conference members have to be football, so having 1 of the 8 be a bball only, if can't get a good 8th football college, wouldn't be bad, and would be good.

There are talks going on between Gonzaga, St Mary's to potentially add them to PAC 8.

There are plenty of good options.

But that's IF IF PAC 7 does not get UNLV, or Airforce.
Well Mik. My question was not directed to you. That said:

You are wrong (what a surpise) about all 8 FBS conference members not having to sponsor football. I hate to quote Wikipedia, but they do provide useful info. This is all about being an FBS conference. To qualify, among other things, you have to have 8 Football-playing members.

To go on, Dakota is not spelled Dakotah. For about the 10th time. We aren't getting any AAC teams. Do you even know where James Madison and Liberty are located? Hint - Virginia. Yeah they are logical candidates. But yeah your remaining list of a Sun Belt and 3 FCS teams will certainly qualify us as your "hyprid G5/P4 conference", and the relative ease of convenient travel will solve our budget woes.

Didn't I suggest that you just shut up for a while? Leave the commentary to the - what did you call me? - idiotic and something - posters.

What I don't get is that all the Scheduling Agreement needed was a signature from the Pac-12 for the 2nd year. I won't get into the original terms we all know what they are and both parties originally approved it. My understanding was that instead of signing for the 2nd year which would have been $12 million, (less than the first year's $14 million because the Administrative fee of $2 million covered both years), was the Pac-2 wanted to renegotiate. Something happened in those negotiations that created friction. There was even a quote from Theresa Gould that she and Gloria were playing phone tag or something to that effect. I remember when I heard that I was thinking what a dumb thing to say as professional conference leaders. I mean if you don't know how to schedule conference calls or meetings then you are ****ed up. At that time I felt that something was up between those two. I thought they don't like each other. Where that $30 million dollar figure came from I don't know. Everything was going well even when the MWC accepted the affiliate membership of your baseball and swim teams. That was in April. No dollars were discussed over that that I know of. Why did things just turn and get nasty in the next 4 months.
One year deal with an option to extend,

Just wow

Completely disagree. After last year there was no guarantee cam Ward was going to be anything more than a training camp arm on an nfl roster. When you have a chance to make the kind of money you would make as a third round draft pick to play another year in college you’ve got to take it…life changing money and there’s zero guarantee his game will translate to the nfl and he will make any significant money in the pros? Yeah, thats a no brainer.

It sucks that college football has turned into this but I can’t blame Cam for his decision.

I don't blame him for leaving and I'm not mad at all. But, selfishly, as a Cougar football fan, I can't root for him because his success provides no benefit to WSU. I won't hate it if he does well....but I'm not celebrating it.

I have changed my mind... I want Nevada

UNLV and NV or just UNLV ?

Forget the past ! This is about the FUTURE !

LV is THE destination for a conf champ game AND a fun visit ! Its a TAG that makes any football game there on any given weekend a watchable contender !

GET UNLV and if necessary, take NV !

and ... the legal action is a smart move by the PAC 7 !

**** the left of liberal seattle TRASH !
I don't need you posting in bold type! What we need from you is more pics of beautiful boobs. Stay in your lane, please! Taihtsat

Just wow

That's the world we live in and you've nailed it on the head.

As mercenary as some kids are about leaving for the money...I'm comfortable saying f#ck Cam Ward, I hope he ends up having a terrible season at Miami because it does not help WSU to have him be successful. That's mean spirited on my part...but I'm a fan of WSU football, not some dude chasing dollars. Ward having success empowers other schools to come to Mateer to lure him away. That sucks.
You bring up some great points. Yeah, fvck that guy! That's all I have to say about that
