Game canceled

First of all, I’m sorry to hear about your friend. That’s a shame. It’s a tragic virus for those affected.

I’m not going to condemn you for your post, but why not also respond to the political post ripping conservatives as “hillbilly Trumpers?” People have become ok political attacks if they come from their side of the argument, and quick to pull out the f-off with your political commentary if the opinions aren’t aligned with yours.

I just can’t feature those double standards.

FWIW, if there was a post about "hillbilly Trumpers", it must have been by someone that I've got marked to ignore, because I didn't see it.

This thread reeks of massive pre-game boozing for a Coug game that never happened. Commonly referred to as Apple Cup.

That’s exactly what happened.

The COVID debates often deteriorate into political commentary, which is perplexing to me. I suspect that’s due to the polarizing “Trump effect” over the past 4 years, and I say that as a moderate conservative. Libert actually.

I’m of the opinion that everyone should mask up indoors if the proprietor requests it. If you’re high risk or fearful, then you should absolutely quarantine. If you’re ok with the risks, then you should live your life. I’ll never agree with the decision to close the global economy and keep children out of school because of this. That’s my opinion as a parent and as someone who cares for my 76 year old parents. If we succumb to COVID, it was natures fate. In the words of my 76 year old Dad, “how many months and years do I have left? Not enough to isolate myself.”

That opinion (or mindset) isn’t how I expect other people to feel. It stems from my personal risk tolerance, and that I feel the lasting effects of COVID are going to impact tens, if not hundreds of millions of people globally. The wealth and privilege gap has been widened exponentially as a result of these lockdowns.

FWIW, I'm vehemently opposed to mass shutdowns. I have a friend in Spokane who works out at an underground gym and I think it's incredibly stupid that he has to do that. Personally, I'm not a fan of masking but at the same time, if it's the placebo that allows us to keep our country open, I'm willing to do it. EDIT: And if it reduces the death toll by even 5-10%, that's a lot of people that aren't dead.

I do get angry at those that think that coronavirus is some kind of fake, liberal conspiracy because I live in one of the reddest states in the country and I have an awful lot of Republican friends who've caught this "fake" virus. One of my friend's dad developed a heart condition after he caught it and one of my co-workers has a parent who's been in ICU for several weeks and is probably going to die. I guarantee that my friends here are not part of some liberal conspiracy. My sister-in-law's family put up a 10' long pro-Trump sign on their property next to the highway and one of their kids has the virus. And again, I've now had a friend lose their life from it. It is insulting for people to make this political from the left or right perspective.

I don’t understand the liberal comments. COVID is killing people. It’s not a liberal/conservative issue. All people need to take it seriously and protect themselves AND others. Yes. I’m bummed the Coug game was cancelled, but I gotta say it seems weird to be having CF during a pandemic. Ok. I’ve said my piece now.

I feel your frustration Flat, a poorly managed pandemic and the rise of a major anti-democracy movement, simultaneously. Its hard to stay composed and measured when everything we hold dear is under threat. Remember, vaccinations are at hand, and the courts are stepping up en masse to protect our Constitution against the nonsense. Come July, it will only be a bad memory.

You keep bringing it back to arguing against those claiming this is a "fake conspiracy." Who is making that argument? I don't know what these Kansans are doing to you, but it seems extreme.

I’ve heard that the coaches may or may not feel there was more of a choice not to play than a mandate it couldn’t happen.

I can't count the number of times in the past six months that I've heard that it's a liberal conspiracy but it's in the hundreds. What's crazy is that I've been a registered Republican for over three decades, but the actions of the GOP in the past decade has turned me into a RINO and I have no shame in being called that. I view it as a badge of honor at this point. Of course, we all know that an unchecked liberal agenda is not a good thing either. So...when it comes down to it.....this year, politics, sports and everything just kind of sucks right now.

FWIW, while I do feel that liberals want to go too far on the virus at times, the lies and delusions held by my conservative cohorts in Kansas is mind boggling.

On the topic of drinking....I decided to try Corona Premier today.

Well, If I were at the bar right now, I would have a Rockhill Farms paired with a Chuckanut pilsner or other decent pils or lager

I get it. I think all we have here, though, are people pissed about shutdowns and overly restrictive protocols that, e.g., cancel a game 90 minutes before kickoff with one positive test, in addition to all the other nonsense we've seen. Most importantly ... glad you got Corona after all.

Trumer Pils. With Cougar Gold. A smoked tri-tip sandwich. And a side of tart coleslaw. I got to eat it regardless of whether the game took place! The Trumer comes from Berkeley. Seemed appropriate, and it is a darned good Pils. It was more reliable than the Cal team.

That Pilsner sounds fair and balanced.

The tri-tip sounds awesome!

There is a difference between liberal/conservative, Republican/Democrat.

Those differences carry over into Covid management.

Liberals/Democrats believe, think that everything should be perfectly, equally fair. All money, income, earned or not should be redistributed to the poor, from the rich, middle class so that everybody is equally poor, middle class, not rich, and so that its harder to earn money, etc, basically socialistic, marxist, communistic, etc.

They also want the government to control everything, for there to be a NANNY state.

To do the above, they the liberal democrats dont care about stepping on the constitution, violating rights, being close minded, intolerant, etc.

They the Liberal democrats are politically correct to the extreme, and are the politically correct police force.

They also think everything and everyone, except non whites, and white guilter's are racist, etc.

So what does this have to do with Covid?

Liberal Democrats are more likely, are usually, most of the time lock things down, etc.

Liberal Democrats would have us believe, think that Covid is more serious then it is, that they have to lock things down, control everything, redistribute all money, etc, because if they dont, millions will die, and the economy will tank, and everyone except for the richest will be poor, out of work, etc.

The only thing they are right about is that if they have their way, and continue to lock everything down, the economy will remain tanked, and jobs will continue to be lost, and small businesses will continue to go out of business, etc.

Republicans, conservatives think, believe, know that:

1. 10 million covid cases, about 250k dead, and about a 2, TWO . 6, SIX, 5, FIVE, 2.65% MORTALITY RATE compared to FLU's 2.5 to 4.3 million cases, 1.35% Mortality Rate.

2. That:

A. Testing

B. Contact tracing

C. Wearing Mask

D. Social Distancing

E. Not locking things down, will help control the Covid Virus, help make the impact not as bad, and not hurt the economy as much, and help the economy recover quicker.

I am sorry that people have died from covid and will die from covid.

There are 2 extremes in regards to covid.

1. That covid is nothing.

That is false. Covid is bad, but not as bad as a lot of people wrongly think. But social distancing is needed, and that wouldnt be needed if it was nothing.

2. That it is like the black bubonic plague, etc.

I'm sorry but 250k dead out of 10 million cases in USA, and a 2.65 mortality rate, is not that bad as that, and lockdowns are not needed.

And the CDC, WHO, Center of Disease Control, and World Health Organization, have both said that Lockdowns are not needed to deal with Covid and are BAD.

But Liberal Democrats like Inslee, think they know more then the CDC, WHO, and ignore them, and wrongly still do lockdowns anyways.

Also you generally wont find Republican, conservative Mayor's, Citu Councilmen, County Commissioners, Governors, etc, doing what Inslee, Liberal Democrats are doing in locking things down.

All that said. I realize, know its not all liberal Democrats.

Trump/Fauci, republicans, conservatives,is, are just as bad on, about covid, as the liberal democrats, because most conservative, republicans, would have us wrongly think covid is nothing.

But at least Republicans, conservatives are not doing what the liberal democrats in Las Vegas, Nevada are doing, in saying that 350 to 1500 people can sit shoulder to shoulder, and gamble together in a casino, while churches using covid safety protocols cant have more then 50 at church.

SUPREME COURT JUSTICE Neil Gorsuch pointed out the UNCONSTITUTIONAL HYPOCRISY FAVORITISM, DISCRIMINATION OF THAT.

So no Covid is NOT a liberal democrat conspiracy.

Anybody who thinks that is stupid, altho that's their right to be stupid if they want.

But altho covid wasnt, isnt a conspiracy, and wasnt political, both the liberal democrats, republicans, conservatives, are screwing up on, about covid.

Liberal Democrats exaggerating Covid and locking things down, and conservatives, republicans, making it out to be nothing.

So sadly covid has become political, instead of about the facts, numbers, correct interpretation, correct course of action.

Lol at you calling me a know it all. Despite you giving the dictionary definition, you dont know what a know it all is.

A Know it all is someone who doesnt know what they are talking about, are factually wrong, either think they are right, everyone else wrong. They are kind of like a pretender, that they know it all, or are right, everyone wrong, when they are the one who is wrong.

For your low information, I dont know it all.

But what I said was right.

Liberal Democrats are what I said they are, their views, agenda, etc are what I said it is in regards to covid and everything else.

I know that because I have talked to a lot of democrats, who have admitted thats their agenda.

Also I didnt just blame Liberal Democrats. I pointed out how Republicans/conservatives were at fault for wrongly making covid out to be nothing.

Thats also true.

And its true what I said that covid is not a conspiracy.

Also I didnt attack anyone. I just stated the facts, what is right and wrong.

And the reason I even posted:

1. There was TOXIC, INCORRECT, RHETORIC, ATTACKS, NAME CALLING by you, others, both sides.

2. The liberals were attacking conservative republicans

3. The Republican, Conservatives were attacking the Liberals.

4. There was posters wrongly saying covid wasnt political when it is.

5. There was posters both saying that covid either was or was not a conspiracy.
6. Covid is NOT a conspiracy

7. Posters were saying that liberals, democrats were not the ones doing the lockdowns, etc, when they were.

8. It was a crap, mess that my comment aimed to clean up, point out what was right, what was wrong, in a logical, factual way, in a non toxic way, without attacking, etc.

Its IRONIC that you who was making the most attacking, Toxic, know it all post in this thread, would accuse the comment I made as a toxic, know it all post.

As MR SPOCK would say, YOU ARE BEING ILLOGICAL.

Instead of factually, logically discussing, debating, proving me, others wrong, you instead just toxically attack, name call, spew vitriolic rhetoric, be a know it all, be close minded, be intolerant, be illogical, etc, like the perfect, typical liberal democrat you are.

In saying that, not all liberal democrats are like you.

I once had a wonderful discussion with a liberal democrat at a restaurant.

After that I understood, understand him, liberal democrats, others better.

He changed my mind about 1, 2 things, but overall I still disagreed with his liberal democrat view.

Its too bad you cant be more like that liberal democrat.

Its also Ironic that you said you were muting me over the comment I made, that had practically, almost nothing wrong with it, wasnt bad, or wasnt that bad, when almost everyone here thinks you are a toxic troll and wonder if they should mute, ban, etc, you.

The biggest problem with it all Mik is people like you who have to put a damn label on everything. Constantly labeling things in concrete like liberal and conservative is what leads to the team sport aspect of politics. It’s what’s wrong with our political system in general, then ignorant people on both sides pick a color and ratchet it up without hardly any understanding of what they are fighting for.

political beliefs are like brain disease. There’s infinite variations and severities - the label itself is meaningless it’s finding a treatment that best manages the issue, and then reevaluating along the way.

There’s hardly anyone in government and few in society who want to redistribute wealth equally among all people. There’s hardly anyone in government and few in society who wants a dictatorship. There’s plenty who want to assign a label because it simplifies it for them and makes them feel justified and right in their actions, no matter how out of line they may be.

Pretty good summary. What has been most astonishing to me in the past 10 years is the blatant lies that are promoted as fact to discourage any kind of intelligent discourse. Since political affiliations have started being treated as team sports, people have spent an inordinate amount of time promoting lies and exaggerations instead of focusing on what items that can be dealt with in bi-partisan fashion.

I am in the process of disassociating myself from a friend that I've known for 25 years because I don't want to discuss politics with him and I can't pretend that I'm ok with him turning into a ranting idiot talking up Newsmax and OAN. I fear that we are trending into some very, very dark times where truth is secondary to winning. I am seriously thinking about moving to Belize or another country just to get away from the partisan stupidity that is rising.

I mostly agree. It doesn't bode well for the future of the uSA when nearly three-quarters of nearly half the country doesn't think Biden was fairly or legitimately elected, using all manner of motivated-reasoning and conspiratorial thinking to justify their passions. I do not think there is going to be any coming back from that.

The GOP, once a rational, reasonable political party has evolved so much in just 4 yrs and continues to be solidified as an irrational and unreasonable party by the balkinization of media bubbles that do not recognize common points of fact. It is moving quickly, too. FOX is no longer quite pure enough and is losing audience share to an even worse version of itself.

My only hope is that Biden is boring and ordinary for 4 yrs to perhaps reinstate some normalcy to that office. It will be a huge change to simply have someone in that office that isn't ACTIVELY trying to divide it's citizensbased solely on our manufactured image of the other side.

Canada is looking like a pretty good place to retire. Taihtsat

A duopoloy perpetuates itself. Not quite like a monopoly does, but maybe in a worse way. It's white hat v. black hat, 0 or 1, red or blue, but never really doing much. The duopoly provides the opportunity for each side to blame the other.

Mexico has better weather.

That’s typically what racists say.

p.s. it’s not ok to be racist.

I doubt you even know what a race is or what a racist is. Can you tell us what makes someone a racist? Can you identify how many races there are? (Hint, there are probably fewer than you think)

For extra credit, can you explain how making a comment about Barack Obama or Maxine Waters or Colin Kaepernick makes you a racist?

That’s exactly what happened.

The COVID debates often deteriorate into political commentary, which is perplexing to me. I suspect that’s due to the polarizing “Trump effect” over the past 4 years, and I say that as a moderate conservative. Libert actually.

The economy isn't being shut down for the fraction of people dying, it is shut down for the people who would have died because the hospitals don't have the capacity to handle it. They aren't looking at what did happen, but rather what would have happened.

How many people in New York, the epicenter, would have died if nothing happened, that there was no state mandate?

Truth is many people self isolated anyway. The economy was taking a hit whether or not there was a closure.
