Super Bowl field

Been reading and watching videos on this thing. Still can't get my arms around it. A giant tray, and UNLV plays on an artificial field that resides underneath? And the fiasco last year in Phoenix?

Crazy shit man.

Wake Forest court storming

I guess we are done talking about our Cougs for tonight. I'm not ready for bed, and TV is boring!

This Wake Forest/Duke thing is a bit crazy. At WSU, when we do the court or field storming, fans have to climb over the guardrails or squeeze through the gates and security, slowing down the mob. This was just out of control. were there no gates or rails or security? Geezus. (Scroll down the link for the footage of the incident)

New O Line coach

Here is a portion of what I picked up, know nothing about him, other than what I have read. Here is a brief summary:

The Cougars are hiring former UTEP offensive line coach Jared Kaster, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, filling the opening left by Clay McGuire’s departure last week.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman was the first to report the news.

Kaster spent last season at Austin Peay, where he helped the Governors win the United Athletic Conference as the team’s co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. In mid-December, he departed for the job at UTEP, where he stayed until now, amounting to a stint of about two months.

Senior Day for Women today

So we are losing Bella and Bea, 2 starters.
Leger-Walker probably as well, but I hold out hope. If she is going to miss basically the entire WNBA season, how attractive will she be especially coming off injury? Ripping up the WCC next year might help her profile a lot. Wonder what her degree status is. Teder? I dunno her life plans, not WNBA bound. I had not really followed the women previously, but I see she started every game in 22-23. There's our 4th starter if she stays. Never too impressed with Clarke, she can graduate IMHO.

More Schulz and WSU research stuff

Sorry - the first thread was getting off track.

I was rooting around and stumbled across this.

So in the other thread, Schulz's "Drive to 25" initiative has failed. I referred to Elson Floyd's unsuccessful efforts to get WSU into the AAU. Which of course you all know as the Association of American Universities. The top research universities in the country.

So, Floyd failed. Did Schulz do better? Well let's see. Since Schulz became President in 2016, what universities have been invited? Not us.
ASU
U of Cal, Riverside
U of Cal, Santa Cruz
U of S. Florida
Utah
Dartmouth
George Washington U.
Tufts (?)
Miami
Notre Dame
Washington U. St Louis

For comparison, from 2006 to 2016 two universities were invited, and since 2006 two have been kicked out (Nebraska and Iowa State).

So, by this barometer WSU under Schulz has failed miserably. But I'm sure he will pick up the pace now that he has moved to the Tri-Cities

ESPN News

No, nothing about our Cougs. And really, where is the front page splash?

No, much more tame stuff. Links below.

First, Dwight Howard and his maybe-maybe not consensual encounter with - a man! Isn't he the one who would get into tussles with Aron Baynes in the NBA? Kinda shines a whole new light on those interactions
Second, former NFL player and other HS teammates suing a female ex-trainer for sexual assault - 20 years ago! Ok. not to be a pig, just a red-blooded man. Getting sexual favors in HS from a woman who was 6 years older, which obviously you enjoyed (funny thing about guys, we can't hide that). What guy would be upset about that? A future NFL FB player to boot?
